Russel Wilcox |
Russel whispers back to Taril, "Let's see how Avizzi's play goes. All I want is fifteen minutes alone with my target, nothing else. Perhaps if you all help me I can help you? We are after all former comrades".
GM Kip |
I think this scene is going swimmingly! Everyone can have a bonus Force point.
As Russel points out his mark, Jerel, the man seems to be watching the Hutt expectantly.
Darga turns to Avizzi " Of course, you're welcome to speak on this matter. I'm interested to hear your insight. " He says, TC-663 translating as usual.
The Twilek dancer tries to quietly pull her arm free from Kalus's grip, but then goes along with him when she feels that doing so would just attract more attention to herself. She instead batts her eyes at Kalus " Yeah right, if I give them up chances are Darga will kill us all, the question is what can I do for you to make you forget you ever saw anything?.. "
GM Kip |
The Twilek looks a little disappointed "Darga's Major-Domo? I don't know frang about that Neimoidian. "
Avizzi the Strange |
"Well, firstly, seeing as this is a trade matter, I think Bocce would be a good common language." The togruta turns to the Zabrak and begins speaking in the rapidfire trade tongue. "You claim that the slaves are used, but isn't every slave used? Surely you wouldn't expect brand new property to be passed to your hands without first being put to good use by the original owner. Otherwise how would he know which slaves are of the proper quality to be sold on to you? It sounds to me on first offer that you expect higher quality goods for no raise in price. Only a foolish merchant would truly expect such a deal, especially when he has no position to negotiate."
Avizzi turns to Darga. "This is, of course, assuming you have not begun reneging on old trade agreements. But I doubt such a merchant as yourself, fair and honest, would engage in such thievery." Bocce doesn't have a great deal of language for compliments, but Avizzi uses what he can. "Even if you have sold damaged goods, as the merchant there is little negotiation to be done. You might lower the price, or offer finer product, but the buyer could as easily attempt to find another partner for his trade."
He turns back to the Zabrak. "So I come back to one thing," Avizzi says, musing in Basic once more. "There's really very little point in you coming here. Either you're lying about the slaves to get more money, which you should have known wouldn't work; you're honestly trying to renegotiate when you should have just gone to another merchant, which is foolish; or this is all a pretense for something." Avizzi may not have seen the poisoning or the goblet switch, but he knew the way his companions were acting. "Now, maybe you should explain yourself, or leave with the slaves you have, less one."
He gives a feral grin. "Payment for wasting all of our time."
Russel Wilcox |
Russel palms Jerel's blaster and switches it to stun.
If the Zabrak and the crew makes a move to leave, Russel readies an action to shoot Jerel with his own blaster. He figures with his friends here and the Iron Ring in enemy territory, he will at least be able to hold onto Jerel long enough to extract what he needs.
GM Kip |
"Ho, Ho, ho, here is a being who knows business! " Darga booms in Huttese, while the Zabrak spends a second to take in Avizzi's words.
" Well, Darga certainly can move a bulk amount of product, if we were to source our slaves from elsewhere... we'd have to find two or even three different vendors... " The Zabrak says a little lamely.
" Exactly! " Darga booms, " You know, I'm expecting a fresh shipment of slaves very soon. Why don't you stay in my palace, you can have first pick and I'll give you a small discount, hmm? "
The Zabrak slaver thinks these new terms over for a moment before giving his agreement, a couple of Darga's servant's are directed to show the Iron Ring delegation to their rooms. As they're just about to be led from the throne room, Igren Demos can be seen leaning close and whispering something to Darga.
"Halt!" booms the Hutt once more. " Kalus, Nomi. What has happened here with this Twilek slave?"
Russel Wilcox |
Russel waits for his former allies' reaction, anticipating or perhaps hoping for a battle.
Kalus "The Red Hawk" Arrhun |
Kalus whispers to the slave, "You had your chance." Then he moves forward with her, saying, "Mighty Darga, while you were engaged in negotiations with the Iron Ring, I spotted this slave slipping something into a drink that was headed towards you. I asked Nomi to ensure the drink did not reach you while I apprehended the slave so she didn't try to run away. She hasn't yet told me who hired her. Perhaps, mighty Darga, she will tell you. That perhaps would likely turn to a definitely if you spared her life."
GM Kip |
Sorry five kids and a vomit bug don't mix well it's been a rough weekend and start to the week!
Also I'm now imagining Nomi almost raising the glass to her lips before remembering it's poisoned, only to almost raise it again a moment later...
The Zabrak spins looking totally surprised his eyes wide and staring at the Twilek slave.
" I swear, I had no idea, nothing to do with this! "
" Ah, but she is your slave, and so your responsibility! " Darga booms,
The Hutt looks to Demos, who snaps his fingers, suddenly gamorrean guards flank the slave taking her from Kalus and pulling her before the Hutts dais. Darga stares down at her " Tell me, slave, who instructed you to poison me? Or I will have these guard remove your lekku 15 imperial centaunits at a time! "
The Twilek cries out in pain as the Gamorreans each grab a lekku and stretch them out. As she cries out, Russel and Taril notice her eyes flick towards Jerel, But the human slaver just stares back at her his face impassive...
A long second ticks by and Darga lets out a loud Tut, Demos nods to the gamorreans and they pull the Twilek to the ground by her Lekku, she cries out in pain again and whimpers as another guard steps up with a vibroaxe and raises it high.
" Wait, wait " she cries out.
The guard pauses, axe raised in the air.
" It was my master! Gokru! "
" What! I never! Schutta! She lies! " yells the Zabrak
Russel Wilcox |
Russel knows the game is up, he need his man and he needs him alive. He whispers to Taril, "Remember, I need Jerel alive and uh... you guys placed me in the Iron Ring as a spy if Darga asks".
He draws Jerels' blaster already set on stun and aims it at Gokru!
"Drop your weapon you filthy Zabrak, it's over for you!"
Readied Action to shoot him with the weapon on stun.

Kalus "The Red Hawk" Arrhun |
Kalus looks at the Iron Ring and says, "Well, that's interesting. Gokru comes to complain about merchandise, and just happens to bring a slave who fingers him for trying to assassinate Darga. Unless you have some evidence to mitigate her accusations, I'd say you're in line for a very different version of hospitality than you were initially offered."

Nomi grabs a handful of blastcorn off a stopped serving droid's tray, and munches it as she watches Kalus work.
She goes to take a drink and stops herself.
GM Kip |
The Zabrak raises his arms as Russel points the pistol at him, the room tenses up. Jerel goes for his blaster, finds it isn't there and then does a double take at Russel, while the Rodian bodyguard levels his rifle in Russel's direction.
"I didn't do it! I came here to negotiate a better deal! Why would I have you poisoned mighty Darga! " Gotru yells as Jerel edges towards the exit of the throne room trying to slip away.
"Silence! I have had enough of this! Take them all to the dungeons! " Darga booms as his gamorrean guards move in on The Iron Ring members, including Russel. " Tomorrow you shall all fight in the gladiators arena! Those who survive will be be granted clemency, and the chance to continue our business relationship! " Darga's eyes roll back to the Twilek slave. " Except for you! " As Darga says the last word the Gamorreans axe falls and the slaves head rolls across the floor...
If anyone wants to speak up for Russel now is the time.
Avizzi the Strange |
"Illustrious Darga," Avizzi says quickly, glancing at the others for backup. "There is something you should know. That man there--" he points at Russel "--is a compatriot of ours, and a good man to have free and allied with us. It would be a shame to cast him to the pits, especially when you can see he himself is prepared to fight for your life already!"
Deception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
GM Kip |
Darga looks down on Avizzi from his daise, taking a moment to consider your words while the gamorrean closest to Russel pauses, a hand outstretched to seize him.
Igren Demos leans in to whisper something to the Hutt, and Darga smiles widely. "Ah, yes... You claim this man is your ally, which I find interesting... If you wish to ensure his freedom then I will allow you to fight by his side in the gladiatorial matches tomorrow!" Darga says with a thump of his tail. "Assuming you agree I'm looking forward to seeing you in action!"
With that two gamorreans grab Russel and try to wrest the pistol out of his hand and drag him off with the other members of the Iron Ring.
Make a check, anything that makes sense. A Deception or Persuasion check against the Gamorreans or even an Acrobatics or Endurance to position yourself close to Jerel when you reach the cells. I'm open to anything you can justify somehow.
If you're successful I'll run the interrogation via PM so it doesn't slow down the flow of the game to much.

Russel winks at the crew as he is lead away, "Uh, you are all gonna fight with me right guys?"
Deception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 - Reverse psychology on the Guards!
Avizzi the Strange |
Avizzi sighs at what's apparently more suspicious plotting from Demos, but he nods. "Fair enough. I hope my injured state doesn't put a damper on the theatrics." His tone is barely muzzled annoyance, but he didn't truly expect Darga to just let Russel go. Hutts don't work that way.
GM Kip |
Please Pm me what you do next during the night.
The rest of the day is given over to planning the next days matches, starting out with one on one matches between members of the Iron Ring and some of Darga's finest gladiators and then after a midday break Russel and yourselves will fight the very best warriors Darga has and finally culminating with Warwick Raden facing his doom in the ring with the Roggwart!
You're all instructed to rest for the rest of the day so you can be at your best for your fight.
Zabrak: 1d10 ⇒ 9
Rodian: 1d10 ⇒ 3
Twilek: 1d10 ⇒ 3
Tough human: 1d10 ⇒ 9
Wookiee: 1d10 ⇒ 10
Jerel: 1d10 ⇒ 2
The next morning you're all summoned to Darga's court by Six Six. Again the wall behind the dais has retracted and the gladiator's arena can be seen through the plasteel windows.
Everyone crowds around as one by one the members of the Iron Ring are dragged out to fight. Armed with whatever weapon they choose...
Though some put up a good fight, the Rodian with the massive repeating blaster rifle in particular. Only one of them survives, the mean looking black furred Wookiee who enters unarmed and manages to club his trandoshan foe into a stupor before taking his blaster and fires it straight into his head. Darga absolves the Wookiee as promised and he's allowed to join the crowd in the throne room, though guards watch him closely.
Last to face his battle is Jerel, he stumbles out into the arena looking rough, tired and disoriented. He doesn't put up much of a fight and is ends up being beheaded by his gamorrean foe after about two minutes of fighting.
Finally after a mini banquet for lunch, you're all led down to a small room off the arena the walls are lined with weapon racks and there's even a few racks of armour... Russel looks up from where he's sitting on a bench as you're led in...
You're all given your choice of weapons and armour (including Russel) or simply allowed to use your own if that's what you choose...
All the melee weapons from the core book are available here (except lightsabers of course) and ranged weapons as well. (All ranged weapons from the core book are available except for the "Heavy weapons" and the "simple weapons"). If there's a weapon you'd like to try from another book run it past me and I'll let you know if Darga has it.
The armour varieties available are:
Blast Helmet and Vest
Armoured Flight Suit and
Battle Armour
Though I doubt anyone will want to wear armour as the penalties are quite bad if you're not proficient.
Avizzi the Strange |
Avizzi is happy with his own equipment, double-checking his slugthrower pistol is fully loaded. He takes a look over the other equipment, and considers the spears, but ultimately turns them down. He hasn't used one in years, and to be truthful he wasn't much good with one even then--always better with a bow, or a rifle. He checks the sights of his pistol and glances to the others. "Ready?"
Kalus "The Red Hawk" Arrhun |
Seeing that none of what Darga's people had provided was better than his equipment, Kalus checks the power level of his blaster pistol and vibroblade before settling his hat on his head and saying, "Let's get this over with. We've got work to do."
Taril Sha |
Taril flicks her lekku and casts an eye over the assorted weapons, but chooses the hold on to her trust Blastech.
With a sigh of annoyance and boredom, she says "Yeah, let's get htis over with " outrageously imitating Kalus, smiling sweetly at the other scoundrel.
Russel Wilcox |
Russel takes his own weapons back and grins at Jerel, "Stick close to me pal and we'll get out of this alive. Just don't shoot my allies, cause ya' know, they'll shoot back..."
GM Kip |
Sorry Russel, Jerel faced his own match earlier, he was taken from the cell about 15 minutes before you were.
After you all have picked weapons or declare yourselves ready, you're directed out into the arena. The space is expansive, dirt crunches under your feet and flickering light shines on you from the lamps mounted around the perimeter. you can just make out Darga and his court staring down at you through the glare of the lights. His voice booms out in Huttese, followed by the mechanical and reedy voice of Six Six his protocol droid. It seems he's halfway through introducing the fight.
"I've saved the best of these fights for last. This Iron Ring member is supported by my special guests Kalus, Avizzi, Taril and Nomi! And so they will be pitted against a group of my best gladiators! The Karg brothers, fearsome with their Vibro-Axes and Zayda with his custom built battle droid!"
Looking across the arena you see three Gamorreans dressed in full battle armour and hefting massive vibro-axes, and to their right a Rodian stands beside a droid that appears to have a grenade launcher for a left arm!
"Take up your positions!" Darga booms giving you all a moment to take cover and get ready for the fight. "And let the match begin!"
You all have a chance to spread out and take cover before the beginning of the fight so position yourselves somewhere on the right hand side of the field.

Gladiators
Avizzi the Strange |
Once in the arena, Avizzi moves quickly to the side, his pistol in hand. "Draw their fire," he murmurs to the others, just loud enough for them to hear. If we can flank them, prevent them from really using cover...
With that in mind, when the match starts, the togruta begins slowly shifting around the cover, edging next to it while trying to keep out of sight from any of the other gladiators.
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 +5 if I have my poncho, but I'm guessing I don't.
Kalus "The Red Hawk" Arrhun |
Kalus nods and moves off to the other side, to prevent them from finding other cover.
Knowledge (tactics): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Working to see if I can determine a strategy that might be particularly effective.

Round 1
Russel moves forward so to get a better shot at the foes, always one for aggression he pushes as close as he can and fires at the Droid.
Blaster Pistol 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 - Blaster Damage 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) + 2 = 9 +1 to attack and damage if within range of point blank shot
GM Kip |
You can tell that the droid will hang back and fire grenades at any group of your allies that he can, the Rodian is likely to hang back too, the Gamoreans will likely charge and try to bring as much pain as they can...
Honestly this is hard as I'm not much of a tactician ooc...
You're allowed to bring any gear you like, so you can have that camouflage poncho Avizzi.
Russel, is there a reason that you're Damage Threshold is lower than your Fortitude Defense? Or is that a typo?
Avizzi ducks behind cover activating his Camouflage Poncho, he begins to flank the enemy.
Taril, takes cover next to Kalus, the two of them well hidden behind a boulder.
I'll count you both as Fighting defensively.
Russel charges out into the field and fires his pistol at the battle Droid. The blaster bolt burns into the boulder as the droid ducks down, bits of super hot rock fly from a tiny burning crater.
Nomi moves forward from her cover, stun baton in hand, she takes up a defensive fighting stance and readies herself to attack one of the Gamorreans should they charge at her...
Ready to attack, fighting defensively.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The droid levels it's grenade launcher, firing a grenade at Nomi and Russel. The grenade lands just in the right spot, and blue energy suddenly erupts catching Russel and washing over Nomi as she manages to dodge the worst of it!
Stun Grenade!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Miss on Nomi fighting defensively,
Hit on Russel.
Stun Damage: 4d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 1) + 3 = 18
Nomi takes 4 damage,
Russel takes 9 damage, and is knocked 2 steps down the condition track!
Zayda, the Rodian, takes careful aim and shoots at Nomi, but Nomi's heightened reflexes are too good and she dodges to the side letting the blaster bolt slip straight past.
Zayda V Nomi: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14
One of the Zarg brothers moves around a boulder and then charges squealing some gamorrean battle cry, Nomi jabs at him with her stun baton, but misses!
The gamorrean brings his axe down in an over hand chop but also swings Wild, his axe digging into the sand!
Nomi Vs Green Zarg: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 5 = 4
G Gamorrean V Nomi: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Kalus "The Red Hawk" Arrhun |
Round 5
Kalus sees the others struggling against the Gammoreans, but sees that the grenade launching droid is definitely wearing them down. Ducking along to cover, Kalus fires at the droid trying to take it out of the picture.
Attack, PBS: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 1 = 16
Damage, PBS: 3d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1, 8, 3) + 2 + 1 = 15
Avizzi the Strange |
Avizzi grunts as the blaster bolt strikes his body, and he slips back around cover as he grits his teeth, fighting through the pain.
Two swift actions to recover, moving up the condition track, then moving around the cover some.
Taril Sha |
Trying to help out Nomi, Taril leans out and targets one of the Gammoreans...
Attack, Point Blank: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 1 = 11
Damage: 4d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 6) + 1 + 1 = 21
Come on!!!
