Given that the assassin is likely a shapechanger of some description, letting it out of sight seems like a particularly bad idea. With a squeaky sigh, Fixit sprints into the elevator and squeezes in next to her.

"Wait for me!! After that explosion, I don't want those guards looking to closely at me and my background. There's too much shady stuff hidden in my closet"

Fixit requires a DC14 Reflex save to remain standing

Ceolor is going to chase the assasin.

Ceolor rushes into the hall and up to the elevator but stops short infront of it as Fixit blocks the enterance to the space. "Oh there you are! Hold the elevator; I've been wanting to talk with you all night and I don't know if I'll get another chance!"

Markar moves in to maintain protection of the Seeker, joining the Spiders to keep her covered.

The cornered assassin can see the only way for her to escape is to start removing some of the threats, so gets to work - blade in hand.

She turns on Fixit like a snake eyeing off a mouse, but then spins and lashes at Ceolor!

Ceolor steps back and fires, but the shot hits the back of the elevator.

Markar maintains protection of Luwazi, as the confused partygoers rush past her and the guards - who knows if one of those might be an accomplice holding a grenade or other weapon?

Fixit can see the only thing stopping this elevator is that he's still in it blocking the door. The G light lit up, the elevator starting to beep expectantly warning whoever is blocking it to move so it can close and begin its descent. He slashes the woman on the leg.

She responds by reaching out as though she is going to push Fixit, but stabs him instead!

Tamon, finding his sights blocked by allies, stands up (Move action) and sees that Fixit is down.

Quickly, he casts a spell and moves Fixit's rifle so that it blocks the door from closing.

That should buy us a little time.

Duration is "concentration", so if the assassin tries to move the rifle, Tamon intends to move it right back in place.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Poor Fixit, it looks like he's playing possum and moving his rifle...

Tamon stands up in the corridor and starts casting a spell, doesn't seem to do much. Meanwhile, Fixit must be alive and playing possum! He's stuck his rifle in the doorway, vexing the knife-wielding assassin once more and stopping her escape! With the rodent being the only thing between her and freedom, she looks at him with murderous intent.

If Tamon can see her murderous intent, he will try to float the rifle up to the top of the door, still blocking it, and grinning broadly to let her know it's him doing it.

Bonus points if she takes AoO's jumping up to try to catch it. :-)

Fixit issues a barely audible groan as his life blood drips from him in a slow but steady stream. His last few decisions flash before his eyes....

”Why did he think he could take on an assassin in close quarters with nothing but a knife?”

An answering thought sluggishly follows the original....

”Because the assassin need to be stopped....and he was the only person close enough to do it”

This time a grunt issues forth for the unconscious ysoki and the bloodflow stops.

Ceolor gives a gasp as the woman brings her knife down across the ysoki's chest and Fixit's blood sprays out. He moves as if to help, before he sees the weapon move and gives a sigh of relief. Eyes ablaze he levels his glare at the woman. As he pulls on his solar mantle he growls at the woman. "You'll pay for that!"

He then brings his rifle up, sights along it, and fires.

"Fine by me" She shoves Fixit and the rifle out of the lift and makes good her escape.

The dust settles, and Fixit is given medical assistance from the emergency responders arriving at the scene. Radaszam and the Spiders are happy that the First Seeker was kept safe.

Luwazigets your assistance to help her up onto a nearby table - "If people are willing to kill me to keep me silent, my words are surely important enough to say". The gala attendees are stunned that someone would have the audacity to attempt an assassination on the First Seeker, and she holds their rapt attention as she delivers her address.

“I had planned for this evening’s announcement to be an exciting one, but I’ll admit this is not quite what I had in mind,” the First Seeker begins, her smile wry but determined.

“Now I find my resolve only further galvanized."

“As many of you know, the First Seeker has the privilege and the responsibility for choosing the direction of the Starfinder Society’s research efforts. I have refrained from setting such a direction while we regroup and rebuild—an undertaking which all of you here have made possible. Also, the fact that Guidance has not yet chosen to formalize my election is another matter, but not one the Society can risk dwelling on. Now that the Society is again in a position to reach for the stars, I am pleased to formally announce the focus of our efforts during my tenure. Thanks to the tireless research of my associate Royo, we have identified a lead on understanding the Scoured Stars incident. And so, the Starfinder Society will continue researching the Scoured Stars, in the hopes of reuniting with our lost colleagues and better understanding this phenomenon.”

There is a moment of surprised quiet over the room, and then the guests, starting with Ykris, begin to applaud in force.

Iteration-177 regards the elected First Seeker with an indiscernible expression,
slowly joining in on the applause.

Royo nods enthusiastically, taking in some of the fanfare for his role in the announcement.

Naiaj frantically appends work orders, noticeably perturbed by some news she has just received.

Zo! actively backs away from the assembled group, still enthusiastically clapping but also making desperate calls to acquire televised rights to all Scoured Stars related endeavors.
