Urga the Ogre |
Urga drops out of his rage and collapses in exhaustion. "Yes Lua, I could use some healing."
Dukkan 'Doc' Longpaw |
Dukkan pulls out three more heaing extracts: the Cure Moderate Wounds (2d8+4) extract going to Urga, while two Cure Light Wounds (1d8+4)extract go to Lua and Thomas.
"Here you three, drink up. Save some of your strength, Lua, just in case we have another fight through that door."
He checks his bag again and notes the depressingly low supplies he had left ready. "Only one healing extract left," he mutters. He didn't mention the other bottle in there as it was still somewhat experimental, a sort of repulsion draught, that when ingested would cause swords and arrows to just slide off the imbibler. (ie. a Shield potion).
Mind if we get a status update on our party's HP levels are? Lost track of them during the fight.
Urga the Ogre |
Urga rises to one knee and drinks the potion, "Thank you Doc."
CMW:2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 8) + 4 = 15
"Well done everyone. That was hard fought."
Urga looks over the fallen bodies for anything of value.

Shenderik |
"Well," says Shenderik, putting out the cigar he had just lit, "I was going to suggest some diplomacy, but I guess it can be delivered in lead with equal eloquence."
The dwarf sighs and puts the cigar butt into his coat pocket, then takes aim and fires.

Since he's still flat footed, what would have otherwise failed to get past him does not provoke. All the attacks land and he does look rather worse for wear.
Since Lua and Dukkan can't see him from the available squares, I will hold their actions.

The air in this damp cavern reeks of a horrific stench—a foul combination of decay, brine, and mold. The cave contains a rickety table, its damp surface cluttered with all manner of what appears to be garbage: empty bottles, bits of clothing, crumpled bits of paper, and more, lying in neatly organized rows. A painting leans against the far side of the table, facing a large leather chair that sits nearby. This chair’s high back and cushion are horribly stained by smears of rotten meat and its arms are sticky with blood. A smaller table sits against the southern wall, its surface heaped with plates and platters of rotten, maggot-infested meat. The horrific stench of the room seems strongest to the west, where the cave’s wall has been overtaken by a horrific growth of dark green mold and dripping fungi. At the center, a patch of black tumescent fungus grows, its horny ridges and tumorlike bulbs forming what could almost be taken to be a humanoid outline. What appears to have once been an exquisite puzzle box the size of a man’s fist lies smashed on the ground at the fungoid ape’s feet.
Billy ''Gunner' Johnson |
Billy momentarily slumps in relief, then remembering his training he quickly reloads his rifle.
That most important of tasks complete, he stoops to examine the body of the thing that they have just killed looking for any clues of what has befallen the previous adventurers or anything else of interest (jewelry, money, keys, etc.)
He suspects that the 4 undead that they fought earlier might have been the party that they were looking but since they didn't have time to search those bodies he's not sure.
drbuzzard |
On the body you find:
a very fine rapier which almost feels too good to be natural in your hands when you give it a test swing
A mithril chain shirt which also seems oddly more durable than normal.
a very nice ring
a locket containing a picture of a female which looks vaguely like the creature that was in cleric garb that you fought in the previous cavern
a key
the outfit on the body is of extremely high quality
You can give me appraise checks to determine some of the values
Shenderik |
"What in the Nine Hells happened here?" says Shenderik, re-lighting his cigar. "Was it just me or did those folks seem an awful lot like the description of Sandpoint's heroes?"
Shenderik will examine the painting, though he will studiously avoid that weird fungal growth.
Urga the Ogre |
"Yes, I would say the heroes got in over their head. They must have run into undead that they couldn't beat and they got turned. Perhaps it was that last creature we just killed."
"Anyway, let's clear the rest of the house. We can have someone back at town appraise the gear."
Urga will move into the B35 cavern when the others are ready.
He will also drink several CLW potions.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Billy ''Gunner' Johnson |
Lets search the four bodies out by the pool, if they are indeed the adventurers we seek, we should be able to find some proof and maybe a notebook or something that could explain what's going on.
drbuzzard |
You search the bodies out in the room with the large pool.

Also on the wizard is a journal. It describes his adventures. His name was Ezren and apparently he was one of the heroes of Sandpoint. He and his fellows had been following up on a string of murders in Sandpoint at the request of the Sherif only to find the clues leading to this haunted house. They did a number of forays into the place. Then the journal describes a plan on one more foray and some prep work for that to explore the basement. He describes the clues they had pieced together. Apparently the man in the other room was Aldern Foxglove, the owner of the manner (also a nobleman of Magnimar with a residence there), but turned into someone evil and undead. He murdered his wife sometime back (that would be the revenant you encountered). His studies of the manor indicate that the haunts are something that point to a larger overall evil nature of the house, as if the whole place inhabited by an evil spirit. He describes something called a phylactery as if the house were one of those, and how a phylactery is part of some ritual related to undeath. You don't really understand all the references because they are quite arcane and thus utterly unfamiliar. He also mentioned some idle speculation that it seemed that the local murders were part of a larger plan, but there wasn't enough information to start piecing it together.
Then there are no more entries.
