Moving onto next room...can't see the number, it's the room directly north of b20


Shelves of books line the walls of this room, interspersed with curious objects such as skulls fitted with stubs of candles, tribal fetishes, and decorative scroll cases. An empty birdcage lies near the southern wall beside a small desk and a fine leather chair. Statues and sculptures grin from all corners of the room.

Billy:
As you enter the room dozens of memories of expeditions, sea voyages, and travels to exotic locales race through your mind, remnants of Traver Foxglove’s journeys before he settled down here in Varisia. As the memories build momentum, they become increasingly infused with a sense of bitter disappointment and regret, and you becomes increasingly aware that he is now receiving memories that never were, memories of fantastic discoveries he could have made had he not chosen to settle down with a shrill harpy of a wife.

You all see what appear to be tears in the corners of Billy's eyes. "Someone else take point. I...I...just don't care anymore..." I should have never left home...what's the point of me being here...I've already lost everything that's important.

Urga loads Billy's rifle and puts it in his arms. He then moves down the second floor hall (icon moved).

She readies her greatsword and falls in beside Urga.

"Let's clear this floor before we head further up."

Once both the B20s are cleared, let's systematically clear the rest of the attic, starting with B22.


A desk and a chair sit in the middle of this drafty room. Chimneys rise to the west, while to the east, two intricate stained-glass windows are set into the wall. The northern window depicts a dark-haired woman with pale skin, large green eyes, and a black-and-red gown; with both hands she wields a jagged iron staff. The southern window’s lower half has been broken and patched with canvas; what remains of its upper half depicts a handsome man dressed in regal finery and a crown of ivory and jade. Small scorch marks mar the wood near the broken window. A battered and ruined telescope lies on its side near the desk and a large trap door in the roof has been tied shut by several lengths of rope.

Urga:

When Urga enters this room, he suddenly feels uncomfortably hot. A second later, he believes he has suddenly caught on fire, and that the only way to put the flames out before he burns to death is to throw himself through the unbroken window and, hopefully, into the sea below.

Wow! Haven't been able to post since Friday. The site was up for me a few hours yesterday, but every post I made has now disappeared. Hopefully its over now.


It was a rollback since the site pretty went down the pipes. At one point it didn't even recognize I had an account.

"Urga?" Lua looks on to her team mate with concern. Her concern turns into shock as she realizes what he is trying to do.

"Urga!"

Lua dashes to cut off the half orc, and subdue him if necessary.

"Urga! Snap out of it!"

Grapple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24


That is a successful grapple. Once you managed to get a hold of him, he only struggles a little bit while trying to move towards the window. Then in a few seconds he snaps out of it.

What do I see?


The window overhangs a section of roof from the floor below, and beyond that it is apparently against the edge of the cliff because you only see the waves of the ocean.

To Lua, "You saved my life! I owe you a debt of gratitude."

To Thomas,"It was some sort of hallucination or possession. Either by the spirits in this house or some other dark magic. We will have to tread more carefully. Lua, perhaps you should lead. Your link with your deity may make you more resilient against the spirits."

Shenderik looks about warily. He does not like haunts and spirits and things of the unnatural world.

"Let's be moving on, then," he says. I've seen no sign of these heroes we've come looking for."

Based on your experience, you all figure it was yet another haunt. It seems that some of the haunts are triggered by particular personality traits.

Billy follows Lua, knowing all the while that nothing really matters anymore.

Lua looks to the halforc.
"Urga, I know that if tables were turned, you would ldo the same for anyone of us."

Lua agrees to taking the lead. "Team, now that we know that these haunts can control our very action I propose a plan."

She checks to make sure all of the team are listening. "I will enter each room first. I will give a count of five and then say 'check'. This way you know I have control of my faculties. What say you team?"

She will listen intently to any suggestions to her plan and then she will move north to B24 (or B23 I can't really tell from the map which rooms we haven't hit) and enter.

The door to this room is locked, but the unmistakable sound of a sobbing woman can be heard beyond it.
