Ameiko:

Lio smiles a little. She's pretty deep in thought, thinking about what Ameiko has said. She still can't quite wrap her head around all of it, but then, that's what thinking was for. "Thankye." She says, looking over at Ameiko as they walk. She still has a lot to work out, but she understands Ameiko was trying to help. Also, dry humor, excellent. Lio is amused.

Lio holds on to you, even after you come up for air. She still looks a little conflicted, although you're really quite convincing. You're pretty sure she believes you. She nods, looking into your eyes, trying to explain. "I... I do not need you to fight my battles. I... it's just several people spoke up for him, and I, I felt that maybe no one thought he was wrong, and since no one supported me... maybe that meant you agreed with him."

"Others spoke up for him? I didn't ... No, I did not agree with him."

"He ... approached me after the argument, to ask my thoughts about what had just happened. After sounding him out, I do not actually think he is sexist - merely overbearing in general. He apparently simply failed to hear your request that he keep his voice down on the ship, incidentally."

"I encouraged him to discuss with you some manner in which the two of you could try to communicate with one another in a mutually respectful way. I hope that was not ... out of line."

Sometime after breakfast, but before heading out to Fynn Snaevald's, Kalimac seeks out Myriana. A bemused smile is on his face.

"Myri, I have a small favor to ask of you. No, actually Attatoq has a favor to ask. I'm just the middle-man."

"A winter storm is both beautiful and dangerous," Shalelu observes. "But then, so is my sister, scourge of the undead. I am confident you will be able to make your own judgments."

Myri smiles happily at her sister's words.

have to go to work. catch up on rest of thread tonight. (tomorrow in your case)

Liothonae:
Kei is with Melinda, which makes him fairly easy to find right after breakfast, but means you should probably post a spoiler to her if you want to ask something of him, as she would be there.

At some point during the morning, Kalimac goes up to Ameiko. He gives her shy smile as he works up to say what he's been rehersing in his mind.

"You know, the last few days of caravan travel to Kalsgard I had visions of a quiet time in the city with time to take you to a nice dinner. But since we've been here it's just been one crisis after another and I haven't had the chance to do the one thing I really wanted to do here." Kalimac takes a deep breath. "Ameiko, assuming we live through the day, would you do me the honor of accompanying me to dinner tonight?"

Despite your somewhat-more-clumsy-than-usual attempt at suavity, Ameriko smiles broadly. "I would love to."

A landowner who was quite an ass." She shrugs, "I think he was a minion of the big wig whose funeral got finished up this morning. Something to do with the rimrunner's guild?" She smiles, "'Course, I'm sure that you could find out far more than I could, if you wanted to."

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

Kyrademon:
Oddly enough, that die roll played right into the nervousness I envisioned Kalimac to be feeling.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
"Easier for me, maybe. Come on, love. If we stay up here, we're just going to end up naked and I don't want to keep everyone waiting."

He grins. "Well, I might want to, if I was having some kind of motivation, já?"

Kei:
"Do I really seem the type to not provide motivation?" Mel quips with a returned grin.

Earlier In The Day

Shopping:

Rhost takes this opportunity to pick up the rest of the cold weather gear that Sandru recommended, some Extra Food, and a vast quantity of smithing raw materials (enough to finish off Whispering Shrike). In the course of his peregrinations, Rhost will need to stop by the Caravan. He also has some questions for Helgarval when it wakes up.

Caravan:

Rhost is curious to check on the progress of the repair, and surprised to discover it's already finished (if I have my timeline correct). He seeks out Koya (or knocks on her trailer if she's not immediately to be found).

Helgarval:

Rhost has a series of questions for Helgarval. He asks these over the course of the morning.

"How were you trapped? You fly."

"Why are you and Spivey not friends?"

"We're going over the Crown and down the other side. Can you recommend any special Desna places to visit?"

"Saw Spivey manifest a starknife. Can you do that?"

"I encouraged him to discuss with you some manner in which the two of you could try to communicate with one another in a mutually respectful way. I hope that was not ... out of line."

"Yes, Mel spoke up for him.. and..." She sighs, trying not to get overly emotional, she closes her eyes for a second, and reopens them, looking up at you. "How does he not come across as favoring the thoughts of the men, and not listening to the women in this group? He only seems to listen to those he respects, and that respect is not extended to the vast majority of women in the party. Every time he has ever said something to me, it has either been a lecture, or it has been condescending in some manner. Yet he speaks to Alaric and Kalimac as equals. When I ask him to do something, he completely disregards me." She wonders if it's ok to talk about what Ameiko told her on the walk over. "Ameiko said, he has been trying to... shelter, her from danger because she was apparently incapable of taking care of herself. And he cannot just speak like a normal person to Mel?" She frowns. "How could he fail to hear me?" She is really frustrated. "And he can be super swarmy and nice, I've seen it. He does it to other people all the time, but he cannot be bothered to be polite to me, ever? Is he unconsciously doing these things... not listening to me, lecturing and talking down to me, because I was a slave? And of course he agrees to something when you ask him, you could strike him down before he could even act... so he's polite to you."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
"Well, yes. Easier for you." She stops at the door, looking back, "I guess I should pretend to be a responsible person in that case, not a jealous harpy."

Female Elven Urban Druid 9, Brightness Seeker 1

Melinda and Kei:
Just before you leave after breakfast "Moighte ah 'ave a word, Kei?" Lio asks the street urchin.

Provided she isn't interrupting anything vital. "Ye mainde keepen an eye an' eare oute fer a young slave, fermer slave, lad naimed Jorun? Let me knoue where 'e es, ef ye fainde 'em?" Lio will of course pay him, and she describes Jorun as well.

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

Ameiko:
Kalimac gives a relieved sigh. He smiles and says, "It's a date then."

The happy smile on his face tells the tale that they could all be jumped by a hundred demons right now, and he'd still be ridiculously happy.

The Caravan is indeed repaired thanks to the efforts of Tollin and Sandru.

Koya is easy to find, and grins when she sees you. "Thought all of ya had fergit the old woman."

"Yeah, I ... a date it is." She looks a little surprised as she says it. You get the impression that it has been a very long time since she has gone on a date.

Liothonae:
“I asked him about many of these very things,” Shalelu replies.

”He told me he treated Ameiko that way not because she is a woman, but because he is in love with her. And that he has belatedly come to the conclusion that it was a remarkably poor way to express his love.”

”And he said that he would argue with any member of the party he disagreed with, and in truth, he was also a dick to Alaric, and vice-versa, before Alaric learned how best to approach him.”

”I tried to tell him why his being both overbearing and overprotective reads as sexism. But after talking with him, my own impression is that he is a reasonably well-intentioned man who is not ... the brightest of our group. He does not understand why his words provoke anger so he responds with anger in turn. But I do not know. Perhaps I am wrong. I’m not perfect.”

Mel:
"You leave Zaiobe out of this," Alaric says playfully, following Mel out the door.

Kalimac nods. "Fynn."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
Mel looks utterly confused for a minute. "What does Zaiobe have to do with a small, adorable pixie hitting on you?"

Melinda:
Shopping comments:

10 gp is *very* low end for books. Books are pricy, running from roughly 10 to roughly 50 gp depending on quality. So you can get 10 gp books, but they'd be pretty crappy ones.

A portable writing desk won't cost that much, however. Figure a nice one would be 20 gp.

Blanket sized furs would be 5 sp each, not 5 gp each. But 15 gp is the right price for the fur sleeping bag.

Consider Tien food to be Japanese, and Ulfen food to be Icelandic, and simply scale the price based on how good you want it.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
Alaric positively wilts under that comment: "I don't know that she was hitting on me exactly. Maybe a little light flirting, I mean, I don't think she meant anything by it..."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Kei:
Kei wrote:
"But how much motivation? That's what yer calls the key question, na-ni?"

She smiles, "Well, assuming that you want your motivation in filthy lucre, instead of favors or something silly like that..."

Her eyes grow serious, "There are four people that I'd like to know about. But... Not at a safe thing."

"How does 10 gold a person sound? Fifty for the whole bunch and anything interesting that is related to them? Bonus for keeping yourself safe."

There is a pause.

It is a very short pause.

"List of names, please," he says.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
"Okay, you were flirting with a small, adorable pixie." She looks over at you with a playful glare, "And you were turning colors."

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
The admission only makes the color deepen. "No I wasn't," he lies badly. "I was just being nice... and we hadn't talked... and she's... um..." The last is almost a squeak: "Don't know that I'd say adorable."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Kei:
Kei wrote:

"List of names, please," he says.

Mel nods. "Promise me you'll be careful, though, k?" And then, with only a little pause, "Flynn Snaevald, Goti Runecaster, Thorborg Silverskorr, and the Rimerunners Guild. I know that Snaevald has people watching me and my friends, and so does Runecaster. Plus Runecaster is a magic-user."

I'm assuming this is towards the end of shopping, so Mel already has a list of good clothing places.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
"You should talk to her more, she is an amazing woman." However, Mel's cat-green eyes narrow, her voice dropping a little, "How would... you... describe her?"

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
Mel's statement bleeds the color away. His eyes soften, mouth breaks into the crooked grin. "Not like I'd describe you."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
The color that bled away from Alaric apparently transferred to Mel because she turns a lovely jade. If Alaric were to use his mind-reading ability he would know for sure that the small pixie-like woman is the furthest thing from Mel's mind at the moment.

"Oh." She goes up on her toes, for a soft, quiet kiss. "I have dinner plans with Lio, Shae, and Zaiobe." A pause, "Assuming that we aren't in the middle of another battle, of course."

She looks up, "But... I'd really like to spend sunset with you... if I wouldn't bother you."

Melinda:

It can be presumed that after the shopping, he scurries off to investigate.

Liothonae:
In the late morning, Kei finds you and slips a note into your hand. "Here yer go."

There is an address on it in the Bone Quarter, actually not too far from the Caravan.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Kyrademon:
3 books (100 gp for the set should be above average quality)
portable writing desk for Lio (20 gp)
body paint (50 gp)
fur dye (50 gp) the cost for the paint/dye based off disguise kit, more specific but more colors?
amber/gold jewelry set (100 gp)

Two person fur sleeping bag (15 gp)
chocolate ~50 servings (1gp ea)
big honey jar (1 gp)
honey combs (~1 cp ea, 5 sp worth)
TOTAL: 396.5 gp

very nice, well-made diary, navy blue dyed leather binding (50 gp)
fresh pomegranates (16 gp/pound ~ would like 2#)
various Minkai ingredients (miso, wakame, natto, konnyaku, chikuwa) all high end base product so 10 gp for enough that Rhost could use for a meal or two?
Icelandic moss (yep serious: see here) ... say 50 uses for 5 gp?
bottle of high quality brennivín (an Icelandic akvavit, maybe a potato one?) 50 gp?
oo... more skyr (1 sp/serving, 25)

Melinda:
After your first round of shopping, Ameiko tracks you down.

"That shopping trip. Can we do it now?" she asks with a certain amount of urgency. "I need new clothes for tonight."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Ameiko:
Mel's eyes light up, she produces a piece of paper, it has a list of shop names and how to get to them. "I was just on my way to find you." She nods. "I did research." She looks down, "I thought... you might be too busy..."

Then she looks up, eyes sparking with interest, "Wait... Why the... what's tonight?"

Mel drops of a bunch of packages in her and Alaric's room.

Alaric:
By late morning, the unused bed in the room is buried under a pile of wrapped packages of many shapes and sizes.

Melinda:

"Date."

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

Ameiko:
Kalimac notes but does not comment on Ameiko's surprise. She overlooked his nervousness in asking her to dinner, after all. And to tell the truth, it's not like he's been on a lot of dates recently either.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Ameiko:
Ameiko wrote:
"Date."

Huge smile, "So... what kind of clothes do you need?" Looks at her list, back up at Ameiko, "I made notes."

She looks a little wistful, "I asked Alaric to take me out for a date... before... we never really...", she shakes her head perking back up. "So, your date. Who? Where? How skimpy?"

"Oh... I liked them because they match your armor, but they are really stylish..."

Mel ducks back into her room, returns with a box, which she hands to Ameiko. A happy smile. "More useful than sexy, but I thought they'd be perfect for you."
Box has said Boots of Elvenkind, stylish Boots of Elvenkind.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
Looping an arm around her slender waist: "Melinda, when are you going to get it into your head that you're never a bother? Remember what I said back there about being desperately and hopelessly in love with you? That was true. When you're not around, I'm counting minutes until I see you again. I... all right, this might be creepy... I sometimes smell this part of my armor," he says, gesturing to his shoulder, "because it smells a little like your hair." He kisses her nose. "Have fun on your girls' night, and maybe I'm the one that gets to take care of a drunk for once."

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Alaric:
She nods, eyes flashing from his shoulder to his eyes. "Well... I have lists. And a native guide," she says with a grin, "So hopefully shopping will be quick, even in this really big city."

"You?"

Male Human Cleric 10

Myri:
At some point, post-breakfast, Alaric will approach Myriana when she's more or less alone. "Myri, I was wondering... Mel's birthday is coming up, and I wanted to get her something special. Do you have any ideas?"

GM:
Ameiko will be getting an almost identical question around the same time.

Male Human Cleric 10

Mel:
"No idea. Probably see what Rhost and Kalimac are up to, I guess?"
