Danaris Krupt |

Danaris grimaces and sighs in a mixture of disappointment and awkwardness. "Kast, to be blunt when you chose to put yourself in that position with that girl, you were pursuing her. Erastil does not look lightly on those who take advantage of young women, even foolish ones. Nor does Sandpoint. But, I see that this is a topic better broached in private. I know you are a good man, perhaps we can find a way to remind the community of that."

Malcolm Cavendish |

Yes, Kast, do tell. I am intrigued to learn what happened that has placed us all in a bad light. If it is a question of being honorable towards a young lady, I am certain that you will do the right thing.

Kast Phaer |

"No, I'll not kiss nor tell nor do anything to further besmirch the lady's honor. I will say 2 things of that should be undisputed truth: 1) I didn't pursue her...I did not understand her intentions until she dropped her dress to the floor, i.e. There was no 'seduction', she pressed herself on me, and 2) Nothing was consumated."
Kast looks at the group.
"I know exactly what I did and how it happened. As I've said before, What happened happened. I take responsibility for my part in it. If Vin wants to have words with me like a man, we can arrange that. If he wants to cluck and slander you fine fellows like a overwrought hen, he can do that as well."

Dorin Zstel |

Dorin, who has not been following all the innuendo and careful side-stepping going on, finally adds 2 + 2 and gets 4. "Kast and the shopkeeper's daughter?" he blurts out, aghast.
Yes folks, the geeky 18-year-old finally has a clue.
"Have you even heard about both daughters?" Dorin cannot help but demand of Kast. "The serving girls at the Rusty Dragon say they need to stop being so generous and work at the...uh...Pixie's Kitten." The youth says, his face turning red.
Dorin probably needs to run away from Kast now! Help, Malcolm, Gar, protect the sorcerer!

Zees |

Zees sits quietly staring into space.
Soldiers and women. I thought Kast might be different. Oh well.
Where to now? Where to now?
Seven different goblin tribes - the Whisperers didn't show up. They were led by a human with the Thistletop goblins.
Father Tobyn and Nuala were killed during a fire at the old cathederal. Who was Nuala? Where is her body buried? Do we know anything about her? Knowledge history/local 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Father Tobyn's crypt was broken into and only his body was taken. He was a follower of Desna. We haven't really learned anything else about him? Where would a cult hide around here?
Knowledge local/history/geography for abandoned estates, buildings, caves, etc 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Are the goblins coming back or do they have everything they need? Are we wasting time while some evil plot continues to unfold?

robin |
Nuala was his adoptive daughter which celestial blood made Varisians in the town think her a blessed of Desna . She was buried in the same crypt as him . Interestingly, her tomb was not profaned . She was a bit older than you (except Gar of course) having been found left at the temple 25 years ago .
About where a cult could hide, it depends on too many things for you to know.
The meeting end and the following night is peaceful . In the morning , Sheriff Belor departs leaving you in charge and Shalelu embarks on her information gathering trip .
So any plans for the next days ?

Kast Phaer |

"Does he want to talk to me? Do you think it would be helpful if I went and talked to him?"
As no one has any thoughts on this, Kast will let it drop. If Vin wants to cluck around and whine, so be it. Dorin has already said what the town already knows...his daughter was hardly a saint and all Vin's complaining is going to do is make him look more foolish.
* * *
So any plans for the next days?
Kast will do what he's been training to do: be a soldier and focus on defending the town. He will ask out of his duties at the school for the week so he can focus on patrolling and training.
Kast is open to doing a full town inspection of every home, but realizes that may be really silly and unnecessary...in the light of reflection, while the incident with Abergast was regrettable, it was probably a very isolated.
Kast will ask Malc if he'd like to spar some more...especially working on his swordplay (that is, if Malc wouldn't mind sharing his new sword for a bit).
Kast assumes we will be continuing the same watch shift schedule as before.

Malcolm Cavendish |

@Kast: I would gladly spar with you in between shifts.
Malcolm will take this opportunity to get back onto a regimented schedule of prayer and work at the Cathedral between his shifts as a guard. He also stops by the Inn to see Sir Foxglove and apologize for not being able to feast with him in celebration of the Boar hunt.

'Gar' Duncrick |

Gar buries himself in his work at the shipyard, chopping and sawing like a madman when the opportunities arise.
At night, on his watch, he walks his rounds whittling. Zees can probably observe he is a carving a small toy dog. And yes, it looks very similar to Petal, Albergast's little dog.

Danaris Krupt |

Assuming that Zees shared his knowledge about Nuala with the rest of the merry band, Danaris spends some time considering hiring Gar to repair some of the damage to the crypt, and asking him to take a look at Nuala's tomb, seeing if there is any sign of damage or an indication as to why it was left unmolested. Danaris even floats the idea past Malcolm, to see what he thinks.
Otherwise, in addition to his duties on patrol, Danaris spends his time preparing for yet another funeral and comforting, to the best of his poor ability, Abergast's family, and the other families that lost loved ones to the depredations of the goblins.

Zees |

Zees will share his knowledge of Nuala with the group. He will scribe a scroll of Magic Missle on Day 3 and then realize he is running out of funds. Between shifts he will search through any books he can find for additional information about Father Tobyn, the old church, and the goblins around Sandpoint.

Dorin Zstel |

So the meeting with the mayor breaks up, Sheriff Belor leaves the next day and Shalelu disappears. Well, we were hired to do a deputy job and we'll do it. Dorin will spend any time "on rounds" checking all the alleyways and out-of-place public houses for goblin tracks. Talking to Daviren Hosk at Goblin Squash Stables should help, and Dorin can ask to learn how to properly ride a horse. (Getting the Ride skill point.)
As far as the 50 gp, Dorin did buy a healer's kit, but he needs some experience using it. I think Hannah’s place does the non-magical healing? So Dorin will ask for training on immediate wounds there. (Trying to get a skill point in Heal.)
Dorin will save his money with Ameiko Kaijitsu at the Rusty Dragon Inn because it is too low to get much. Unless we want to pool our gold for some healing potions? robin, how available is antitoxin (Core) and bloodblock (APG)? (Bloodblock is the cheap non-magical stabilizer.)
(Now to figure out how to get that Swim point.)

robin |
I did not confirm it but Sheriff Belor did make you are all free of your usual duties . Of cousre if you want to do double duty , it's your choice .
Malcolm , you go see Sir Foxglobe to learn he has left the town the same morning sheriff Belor left.
Zees, there is no book on Father Tobyn . What books you can find on goblins is on goblin culture and not especially on the specifics around Sandpoint . In the curious goblin , you can see a treatise called 'A varisian myth : The seven stones of the palace of Desna' by Brodert Quink a local sage . You can buy it for 8 gp or of course you could go see Brodert .
Dorin , Hannah Velerin will be happy to train you at no charge .
You can buy antitoxin at Bottled Solutions but bloodblock is not Paizo Material approved .

'Gar' Duncrick |

Gar definitely wants to keep up with his work. Helps taking out some of his frustrations. And since he sleeps down there at the dock, he just doesn't know anything different.

Kast Phaer |

Kast hasn't spent too much of his reward money (just the whistles and a book) and seems to hold out hopes of eventually buying a new sword, just like a soldier would.
Otherwise, he's quite happy with the routine of his new position and responsibilities.

Malcolm Cavendish |

Malcolm thinks to himself that it is very interesting that Sir Foxglove left without even bothering to check on the injured Danaris as a result of HIS hunt. Also, it could be that the hunt was a means to get the group out of town...hmmm.
Malcolm does some digging around by asking his parents and other nobles around Sandpoint to discover anything that he can about Sir Foxglove. I will also inquire at the INN as to whether he indicated where he was headed.
Knowledge(Nobility): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

'Gar' Duncrick |

One morning Aeren Barret will open his front door to find a box on the stoop. Upon opening it, he will find a carved wooden toy dog, and a sack of shiny coins. Coming to see what the commotion is, Amelie will find her son playing with a wooden dog and a sack filed with 50 gp.

Zees |

Zees, there is no book on Father Tobyn . What books you can find on goblins is on goblin culture and not especially on the specifics around Sandpoint . In the curious goblin , you can see a treatise called 'A varisian myth : The seven stones of the palace of Desna' by Brodert Quink, a local sage. You can buy it for 8 gp or of course you could go see Brodert .
Zees will see Brodert about reading the book.

robin |
Malcolm , The Foxglove family is an old family from Magnimar who have an old manor south of Sandpoint. In fact you can easily discover the manor is even older than Sandpoint but its occupation have been sporadic. The manor has had a bad reputation since the death of the last Foxgloves to inhabit it 16 years ago . Both the father and mother of Aldern and his sisters were found dead then . since then the manor has had the reputation of being unlucky . 6 months ago Aldern hired a varisian family of carpenters to restore it and he has been living there on and off since . Apparently his business affairs in Magnimar have made him left it for the last month or so but he was headed back to it when he left the inn .
Zees , Brodart is only too happy to speak to you . While he has nothing much to say about the recent history of the temple , he is much more loquacious about the seven stones in the center of the cathedral . He explains that while the varisians are convinced that these stones are a representations of the seven towers of the palace of Desna , he is not convinced and thinks it is more a representation of the seven virtues revered by the thessalonian empire before its fall . He also makes notes that each virute and sin was apparently associated to a school of magic but that the stones are too much worn to know if they were also associated with magic . But it confirms in his mind that there was a thesslonian site there and that the old light (n Sandpoint was not simply a lightouse but rather a watchtower .

Malcolm Cavendish |

Malcolm will ride out to visit the Foxglove estate when not on watch during appropriate hours.
@Danaris: Would you like to ride out to the Foxglove estate after our watch to do some fact-finding? Sir Foxglove's family was found dead in the manor 16 years ago. I was told that he was heading there when he left the Inn. It seems a little conspicuous to me that he left right after the hunt without even bothering to check on your health. I want to check on the possibility that he pulled us away from town on the hunt for less than honorable reasons - I want to rule him out as having anything to do with the goblins.

Danaris Krupt |

"I'd certainly be willing to ride out there with you Malcolm." Along the way, Danaris will broach a topic that has been bothering him:
"After Zees account of Nuala, Fr. Tobyn's adoptive daughter, I've been bothered by the fact that her tomb went unmolested by the goblins. What would you think if I asked Gar to have a look around her tomb. I'm hesitant to disturb the dead, yet he's trained with that sort of thing and dwarves are said to be good with stone, perhaps he will notice if anything is amiss, even if we didn't."

Malcolm Cavendish |

Sorry, did not notice his presence in the thread.
Danaris, I do not think that there is any hurry in checking out Sir Foxglove. I do seem to recall some bit of concern on his part now that I think of it. I also think that it is a fine idea to round up Gar for a quick investigation of the tomb of Tuala. Let's head over to the docks instead.

'Gar' Duncrick |

Gar will be available for any investigation.
Upon seeing Malcolm and Danarius approaching, Gar climbs sown from his ship he is working on.
"Ho friends."
After explaining their presence, "Aye I can take a look wit'cha. But what are we looking for?"

Danaris Krupt |

"I don't know Gar. Just some reason the goblins would've left Nuala's tomb alone while ransacking the father's. I guess I just have vague misgivings after Zees' recounting of Sandpoint history a day or so ago. I'm asking you because I figure that you might know a bit more about stonework and all, being a carpenter and a dwarf." Throughout this conversation, Danaris tries to keep his voice down, mindful of the scandalous nature of what they are discussing.

Kast Phaer |

Kast I know there has not been much actio, lately but I want to let you finish what you are doing. THere is actually some days hiatus before the next action and it could help you on the long run .
That was meant to be in character, as a character. I'm waiting happily. :)

Dorin Zstel |

Dorin will take the 50 gp he still has and:
1.) Look for antitoxin at Bottled Solutions (50 gp)
2.) Look for bloodblock at Savah's Armory (25 gp)
After seeing the price of both, Dorin will blanch and realize that 50 gp is just a start, and that he's not as rich as he thought with Foxglove's gift. The Healer's kit (50 gp) he already has for 10 uses is far more economical. Still, bloodblock works in the middle of a battle when using a Healer's kit might take longer.
Dorin buys one bloodblock vial for 25 gp.
Dorin then realizes that if anyone knows how to swim and can teach him, it's probably the people who work at the docks. Like Gar! So Dorin will go find Gar after all of this when he has a free afternoon and ask him to teach him to swim.
(No jokes about the 'hard knocks' method of teaching a person to swim, as Gar pushes Dorin off the docks into the water.)

'Gar' Duncrick |

Gar can teach you to swim like a fish...what are those ones that sit on the bottom, a flounder?..maybe a rockfish?
But yes Gar, being nautical, in a way, does swim decently and will help you if you desire.

Danaris Krupt |

A few days after the goblin attack on the Barret's, Danaris asks Gar to join him in Fr. Tobyn's crypt, under the pretext of doing some minor repairs after the goblin attack during the festival.
"Zees' imagination has probably worn off on me, but after his story about Fr. Tobyn and Nuala, it struck me as odd that the goblins desecrated the Father's tomb, but not Nuala's. I mean, that is a pretty targeted attack, for a goblin. I thought you might have a look around, especially at Nuala's tomb. See if anything looks odd or maybe if a goblin left us a surprise like at Barrett's, may Pharasma guide his soul to his just reward."

Malcolm Cavendish |

After training with Zees during his free time, he offers to loan Zees any funds that he may need to buy a reasonably priced sword of his liking.
Zees, you can pay me back when you like, but after our practice session, I would say that you definitely need to get yourself a decent blade. You hold promise, and I mean to help you attain your goals, if you welcome the assistance?
Malcolm will be certain to be there with Danaris and Gar when they investigate the tomb of Nuala.

robin |
Assuming Gar will follow Danaris , you arrive at the cemetery and see Naffer Vosk the caretaker. Seeing you two , he smiles . "Ah here are the heroes . " After a little chitchat , he lets you enter the crypt .
Gar search it but while the central tomb has indeed been forced , the other one has indeed not been interfered with to the best of Gar's opinion .

Danaris Krupt |

Oh well, Gar, sorry to have wasted your time. Something just feels wrong about the whole situation. I can't fathom why the goblins would specifically attack the father's tomb, and leave the other unmolested. Danaris pauses. So, what are we going to do about Kast? Erastil's teachings on these matters are clear, but Kast often has the look of a man who cannot wait to get out of Sandpoint. He'd be a boon to the community. But, no matter: Things will sort themselves out in that situation some day.

Malcolm Cavendish |

I just spent soome time training with Kast, and he is indeed formidable. I will try to speak to him about more chivalrous behavior when it concerns the opposite sex. Maybe I could even see if Kast would agree to me talking to the father in question.

Kast Phaer |

That was sparring? HA!
Kast taps his wooden sword on the grass, getting a feel for the handle. Grinning at Malcolm, he mentions that Abadar would try to sell dirt to earthworms with a smile.
Raising his sword and shield, Kast shouts "On guard!!" and begins to circle is opponent.

'Gar' Duncrick |

"A Dwarven maiden would have her entire clan looking out for her. A suitor would have to satisfy his intentions to her family for years before he would ever be allowed alone with her. Too bad those customs don't apply here."
"Well, I know you boys will see to it that the right thing is done."
Gar heads back to to the dock, chuckling to himself. The first bit of joy he has felt of late.

Malcolm Cavendish |

OK Kast! I will show you Abadar's perfection!
Malcolm Stats

Well, here is your chance...two 1's...WTF!

Kast Phaer |

OK Kast! I will show you Abadar's perfection!
"Abadar's perfection is a sword swinging wildly through the air? I thought he was so much more." Kast counters with a smile.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 to hit;
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 nonlethal.

Kast Phaer |

Ha! Ha! I am simply taking it easy on you! Malcolm smiles back between hacks!
Kast grunts as that last blow nearly finds delicate flesh.
Tricky move, Malc, but I learn!
"Taking it easy on me? I'm not your precious moneypurse! Feel free to hit me a bit, ya goblinkisser!"
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 to hit;
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 nonlethal.

Kast Phaer |

Kast grunts as the takes Malc's sword on his shield.
Oof.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 to hit,
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 nonlethal damage.
Kast begins to settle down, the initial surge of energy passing.
