Rise of the Runelords - GM Pablo (Inactive)

Game Master Stetrix

Something is afoot in Varisia. There have been a series of odd murders in a small town on the west coast called Sand Point and more recently the capital Magnimar, where even the lord-mayor was a target. A cult of serial murderers called the Skinsaw Men was uncovered and stopped. We have also received reports of more activity along the border.

I would like you to go see the lord-mayor of Magnimar. Assure him the Pathfinder society will do what we can to help him. Investigate these goings on and see if there is a common thread to all this unrest. We have a lot of interests in Varisia and would like to maintain the good graces of the government. I doubt the lord mayor will have you sitting around for long. It is a big place and inevitably something will need attention.

So how does that sound? A mission without a precise goal and with no guarantee of coin. Ha! Are you up for it?

Now let's have a look at that door in the corner. It looks like we're almost done here. I can't wait for this place to burn. There are so many remains of humanoids here that a pyre is the only fitting end to this place!

Silver Crusade

that tree had less than 4 hit points per square. Word to the wise - don't buy cheap flooring.

Fernleaf check for traps.

Couldn't discern where everybody was, so I removed the webs and critter from the map. Is there any use for the digestive juices of this creature? Should Fernleaf save some in a vial to make paralysis poisons/antidotes? Detect magic on the door and lock.

Fernleaf finds no traps. Inside a small room is a chest which also has no traps. Inside the chest is agate- studded gold ring worth 50 gp, a necklace of emeralds and silver worth 350 gp, a belt of Dexterity +2, a large sack filled with assorted coins (210 gp, 452 sp, and 108 cp), a ruby-inlaid red dragon-scale cloak clasp worth 600 gp, and an elven-made +1 shocking longbow.

Now that would be a good floor!

Out of paranoid reflexes (should be a feat or a trait) casting Elemental Touch- fire and I'll whack it (don't even go there) several times two handed and sans other buffs!

What the...?

Longsword: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 261d8 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 9 + (2) = 12

Hit it some more, Anaba! It isn't quite dead yet! Or better yet, grab the booty and let's torch this hell hole!

Dark Archive

Buchart and Ababa with her fire sword chop it to bits and stop the regeneration. You find no more rooms in the house of horrors.

You find Shalelu in the barn with the Rangers whi still need rest before being able to travel. Shalelu notices the bow you found "I think you found my Father-in-laws bow."

I wonder how our ranger friends are doing? We need to check that spider hole out before we torch the barn, as well!

I think we're going to have a massive bond fire!

Dark Archive

You find nothing of value in the spider hole

BOND FIRE TIME!!!
While Shalelu and Cela heal up rangers, I will start gathering firewood and start stacking it in the basement next to the tree. If I find any oil around the house I will add that, as well. We can torch the house today and the barn tomorrow, I guess.

For the rangers, some much needed rest!

Shalelu should take the bow.

Dark Archive

What do you do with the Rangers?
Shalelu says "The Rangers are too weak to travel. We should wait until they have a little rest. The fire may bring some unwanted guests"

Cela says "With eight hours rest I can cast lesser restoration on them which will help. ". She gathers all the wounded and uses all remaining channel heals to cure everyone to full hitpoints.

Anaba and Cela, would it be better to torch the place now or wait until dark to do it? I have little or no survival skills in the wild, so...! Seems it will call attention to us either way! Perhaps at dusk? Sorry to seem so eager, but I have been dreaming of a bond fire since I first smelled this place.

Come morning I will cast Lesser Restoration to cure exhaustion. The former prisoners should be hydrated/fed by now. Everyone can get a head start back to the horses and then I will cast park and set this place on fire, assume bird form and catch up. Once it catches it will be visible for miles.

I suggest we wait to burn the house down, as much as I can't wait for that wretched place to be gone. Let's get some rest, take turns on the watch and recuperate.

Scarab Sages

Male Human Magus L8/Brawler L1/Bloodrager L1

I can provide temporary mounts for the rangers. We will help them take the fort back! Unless they feel we need reinforcents!

Good plan Cela, that lets us get the Rangers and our party down the road and is safer.
I thought it was bonfire?

Both spellings take you to large controlled outdoor fires on Google. I thought bond fire came from selling war bonds, but I found a reference to bonding around a fire with friends. We need to do that at my place soon! I have two trees worth of firewood!

That would be great! Need to do it soon!

AFK for a dental appt.

Back now.

You collect your horses tied up about a miLe away and Bring them into the barn. Gmstuff: 2d100 ⇒ (78, 1) = 79

The night goes by and Cela casts lessor restoration on the Black Arrow Rangers.

You pack the horses and start to leave, but are attacked as you exit.

I'll make a map and determine the enemy tomorrow.

I do want to finish searching the house. And by "I", I mean I would like the assistance of someone skilled in the art of observation, unlike myself, who sometimes can not find his pants in the morning.

Silver Crusade

I'll get Smek to help me. Find the shiny things, Smek!

Oh? I won't dispute your claim to it, although I got the impression you were a wanderer like myself, and didn't really have time for the married life. Is he out here somewhere?

Was this old farm always like this? Do you think the tree was responsible for the extreme level of defilement?

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Transmuter 2

Oh, and I want to try to salvage some lumber from the evil tree. It deserves to be an end table.

carpentry: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Fernleaf can creep about with Sekkimm and Smek!

For the table you cut the Tendriculos trunk away from the roots and set it outside on some old wood to cure. You figure you have to come back this way and can take it back with you.

Shalelu tries to explain about the bow you found. "Sorry, I was not clear about the bow. It is difficult for me to talk about my past. It is not mine, but my Step-father's, Jakardros Sovark. the second in command, now Commander of the Black Arrow Rangers, I guess. He is one of the prisoners we rescued. I was not expecting to see him, but was worried something had happened to him in the fort. I am a bit embarrassed, having not spoken to him in years. I wanted to go on this mission to see him and try to mend some old wounds. We spoke while you were in the house...He left me alone in Crying Leaf after my mother died in a dragon attack after he helped kill that dragon. He said his heart was to broken to stay, but he abandoned me really...I see he is in great pain now with the loss of his brothers in the fort. I for one would like to help him recapture the fort and try to repair his inner wounds. If you would help I would be most grateful."

Searching upstairs you find a large cedar chest that you did not open. You also find in the cluttered upstairs room 5 flasks of acid stored under one of the tables and three full sets of masterwork thieves’ tools scavenged from the gear here.

There is nothing else you really want from the house, unless human leather bound furniture suits your style.

Rolande has the Varisian idols (2, grant summoned monsters +2 hp per HD if used as an additional material component), but you may want to give those to Cela or Sekkimm as they are just used when casting a summon spell.

I thought they were magic items, so give to whomever needs them.

Did someone burn the house down after checking it out and before we get attacked by whatever we are getting attacked by? Congrats on the slab pouring Tom! I am so jazzed for you!

Silver Crusade

I'll carry the chest out.

So we now know for sure that the fort has fallen? That's more than we knew when we left. What's holding it now?

I'll use the raven figurine to pass along current news of the fort to the town we last left from.

Fernleaf checks the Chest recovered in the house search and finds no traps. The lid is firmly stuck and has to be wrenched or pried open. Inside is a sack of what looks like coins within.
Also found are the weapons, cloaks and armor from many rangers and townspeople hidden away in crates upstairs all are non-magical. You are able to refit the rangers with weapons and armor.

Also I need a spell list from Cela and Buchart before we continue to any encounters.

Well, if it isn't magic, it could be poison or disease. Maybe wear gloves while you handle it?
