The ring is not magical, not is anything else around, except for the large monstrosity in the upper corner that was hiding in the dark shadows, watching you. The scythe it holds also radiates magic.
This misshapen monster is a thing from a child's nightmares. A jumbled mass of body parts incorporating as much cow and horse as man, the Scarecrow's considerable girth is topped by an idiot head that leers and drools like a grotesque baby. Its face is cruelly stitched, the lips sewn partially together. It is dressed in straw and dung- covered rags that give off the sickly sweet smell of decay. A trio of what appear to be carved pumpkins hang from cords on the Scarecrow's belt, but a second glance reveals these to be horribly bloated human heads with a sick yellow tinge.
"Mwaooor!" it groans as it tises to attack you.

@Faywen - you would need to roll to overcome SR here. But it won't matter here anyway, unless you want to have the satisfaction of hitting it!
Blow after blow rains down on the monster, and despite its tough form and magic resistances, the overwhelming damage is just too much, and it drops in a heap.

Reynard, ready to leap into combat, pauses as the thing comes crashing down. He taps his foot on the floor a few times. Well. I'm going to need to be faster on the draw, I guess.

Yep! DR does apply, though my blasts do always count as magical (and do full damage to swarms, if those come up again).
Faywen cracks her neck as the thing crumples to the floor. "Good thing it was so clumsy, it looked like it could have really messed us up."

| Druamin |

"That was rather violent and sudden. And Skarn! Remind me never to pick a fight with you and that, uh, pick."
Druamin scans the room just to make sure there aren't any other threats lurking in a corner. "I guess we should search this area before moving up the stairs. I don't know how long this creature was hanging out here. I also wonder if it was placed as a guard or if it just attacked everything that entered."
At Faywen's comment Druamin nods. "Yep. Although, the more I see you guys in action, the less worried I become."

            Just those two items.
