BTW guys, would any of you be interested in playing in an adaptation of Curse of the Crimson Throne, using (heavily) modified Pathfinder Rules mixed with a little 4ed? I've been working on a forum game, designed for people who don't play tabletop RPGs, but to get members, I need members. No need to say yes.

The swarm went, so it is anyone's turn.

Guys, I really want to show you a map, but I can't under the OGL, and I don't want to piss on Paizo. I can reproduce it, but I'm not sure how to do so online. Suggestions?

Does sharing it privately (such as email), break the OGL?

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

Yeah

create an ASII map?

for example:
-------
|.....|
|.....|
d.....|
-------

they are a bit of work...but it is what I have used on the WotC PbP games I have played and run...there was a code to through them between to keep it all aligned, can't remember it or know if it works on this forum

Dude.

Whoa.

Dude.

I haven't seen those kind of maps in so long, I forgot they ever existed. Until you, right now. Makes me want to go find my old forgotten realms games. On floppy. I don't want to find them anymore.

Starting room:

--D----
|......|
|......|
|......|
D......|
D......|
|......|
|......|

-------

And now I have to dash, my wife is bugging me to make her breakfast.

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

Ugh. That looks awful. Just imagine that each dash is a five foot section.

First area should have had a key. We'll call it First Floor, room 1
Main hall (First Floor, room 2)
And to move this past my avatar, I have to write SOMETHING here, I guess.

.SS----SS
.S......S
.D.......D

.D.........D
.|.........|

D........Doors to First Floor, room 1
D........Doors to First Floor, room 1

---DDDD---

N

Southern most doors lead to the outside
Southern most west doors lead to the third area you entered, First Floor, room 3

Third area you entered (First Floor, room 3):

--D----

Gosh, this looks so much better with a picture. I'll keep looking for a free online map maker.

In my own games, I use a googledocs spreadsheet. Just widen the cells to game mat size and the you can add whatever you want. You can even go in and add our avatar pictures to it so we can move around the map. It's pretty great.

Do we need more than a perception check to find our stuff? I mean, is there anything else we can use or do we just roll perception?

Dark Archive

What're you talkin about?

Male Human Witch

Huh, never thought about using Google Docs in such a manner, but it does sound like it could be an efficient and capable mapping system.

Like a spell? Luck roll?

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

First, in regards to the map situation, let us see if this works:

http://yeoldemapmaker.com/

I made the map of room one. It doesn't have everything in it sadly, but it'll at least give you dimensions and door locations. The first room is named 7x11 1st Flr #1. I'll create the other rooms by tonight, and from now on when you enter a room, I'll create it and then post it's name here; it takes a bit of time to do so though, so it won't happen right away. You might need to make an account to load stuff, but it took me two seconds to do so.

As far as your equipment:

So, when you woke up, merely saying you checked for your equipment or making a perception check with any result told you what was missing, and possibly what was in front of you; if items were in containers and the container is missing, then so is the item in said container; unless, like I said, it was laid out neatly at your feet when you awoke. As for where everything else is...trying doing some roleplaying.

HP 12/12, AC 17, CMD 15, Touch 12, Flat 15, F +1, R +2, W +2, INIT +2, Perc +4
Human (Ulfen) Oracle 1 (Battle Mystery)

I asked the group of NPCs earlier and was ignored.

I am now working with Zella to search the courthouse.

Also, that link didn't work for me. It just went to the main page.

What're you searching for?

Also, yeah, you were ignored, my bad. Let's pretend that you ask your question again. That'll be my next response in gameplay, which I'm posting now.

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

There ya go.

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

I created the third room's map. It is listed under 7x11 1st Flr #3.

To access the maps, click Load, select dungeons, sort by name, and find the dungeon room's name. It's a simple map, but at least it shows the dimensions and doors.

I need to work on the main hall next, but it'll be on it's side.

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

Made a map of the main hall, I had to lay it on it's side, so the compass is

W
SN
E

The name of the room is 22x10 1st Flr #2

Female Human (Varisian) Harrow Sorceress / 1

Zella is earching for the groups missing belongings and for anyone who may have been responsible for taking them.

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

A perception check of this room reveals nothing more. As far as your gear goes, if I as the DM assured you your starting gear would be completely recoverable after the adventure, would it make you feel better? (I would never just snap my fingers and destroy your equipment like that) You could redirect your character wondering about where it is into why it is gone instead.

Female Human (Varisian) Harrow Sorceress / 1

Out of character, knowing that Zella's gear is completely recoverable doesn't change anything for me. She would still be searching for it and for whoever took it. Once she found who it, then she'd ask them the why question. She wouldn't see too much point in wondering why now except that since most people seem to be missing weapons, she would assume that someone wants them vulnerable and unarmed. Thus making it even more important to find all their gear.

I have no idea what module we are in, or if may be missing some piece of obvious plot. I'm going entirely on what I think my character's actions would be, which means they may turn out to be the wrong ones. I don't know.

I know which module we're in, though I don't own it and never played it. According to the reviews it's apparently really difficult (though I don't know how much Goblins has changed). I look forward to the challenge. Also, I had posted something but it seems the paizo boards ate it up.

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

It's difficult because most people approach it with the same attitude they approach any dungeon. And Demaiv: *looks slyly* Hush you. :)

Anyways Zella, I don't want to say you're doing it wrong, so, you aren't doing it wrong. I just want you guys to know that I would never just whisk away your gear and destroy it, so if you were getting frustrated or worried, that you don't have to.

As far as RPing goes:

Maybe your character is a bad ass. Maybe your character is dumb. Maybe your character is naive. Maybe your character is oddly optimistic. But imagine this:

You wake in a strange place that looks really old and worn down, after suddenly passing out while eating dinner. You don't know where you are, and as you look around you, there are all these strangers around you, some who looked very confused and a little scared, but most of whom are freaking the cuss out! Then, the roof turns into a sword, axes start flying about, and people start screaming!

There's a panicked run for the door when an old grandfather clock starts chiming with crazy sounds that cause you to see things that literally make you go mad and those people, in their terror, can't think straight enough to open a door, and when the big old crappy thing does open, ghosts throw the people trying to leave back inside, with ghosts laughing and taunting you and then the one guy, the one cuss-ing guy who looked like he was a bad-ass gets picked up with invisible hands and is made to scream and then you find him dead and then you're attacked by cussing undead crows man! Those things were the living dead man! We're going to die man! We're all going to die! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE! AAAAAAAH!
.
.
.
.
Where's my stuff?

*Reads that again*

Okay, that was actually pretty funny if you could hear me read it aloud.

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

Read your gameplay just now, it is awesome.

HP 12/12, AC 17, CMD 15, Touch 12, Flat 15, F +1, R +2, W +2, INIT +2, Perc +4
Human (Ulfen) Oracle 1 (Battle Mystery)

I hear you man. I will trust you.

From my character's perspective? He feels naked and ill equiped to handle what's going on without his weapons, but he's no pansy. He'll deal with things as the come. However, he's trying to better prepare himself (find his stuff) to deal with future threats before seeking them out.

I would defend against something attacking me with whatever I had on hand, but I would not go attack someone without making sure I had a few tools at my disposal. Höd is the same way.

Male Human Witch

Adanel is suspicious, but he does not wish to see harm befall those around him. He will work to help them, but his possessions have more than just monetary value to him. He will not leave until he knows they are no where to be found.

However, luckily for him, he comes with built in weapons that he has had time to train with.

Oh yeah, I'm sorry 'bout that. As you enter a room, candles and lanterns light themselves. Even when there aren't any candles to light themselves. They go out when you leave the room. Sorry about that. Assume this to be the case unless stated otherwise.

We are in room 1? Or room 3?

Dark Archive

Whatever's clever Human Librarian, 5th Level

I'm saying a little in room 3, and a little in room 2. Are you looking at the maps? I realized that I didn't label the doors...

Yeah looking at the maps, just not sure how they fit together and now my brain has exploded hah. Labels on the doors would be useful.

Male Human Witch

Sorry for the delay. Went out to watch "Pokemon: The First Movie."

Dark Archive

Adanel, unless charging, bullrushing, or running, (or something else that says so) your allies cannot impede your movement. Hod would have to waste his whole turn actively stopping you, and it'd get stupid messy super fast.

Male Human Witch

Its an option that is out there though, so I was leaving it open as its not my job to tell other people what to do.
