Captain Albrecht
I vill go vith you.
Albrecht draws his dagger and follows Ivar down into the ship, panther padding along side.
Zats odd, do you sink crew members or...?
His voice trails off, but whatever might have followed the or can't be good.
Rhea Stardust
The corner is about 15 feet ahead of you. Footing is creaky boards, but seems solid. Charge should work. But must have "a clear line of site to your target."
Sasha bites her lip and shuts her gab.
I mean
Sasha bites her lip and shuts her gab.
she didn't actually SAY that she just DID it.
Rhea Stardust
Enlarge Ivar would fit. He would have to duck about 10 inches.
Rhea Stardust
What makes you think the banging is INSIDE the door?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
Ivar walks up to the corner and peeks around it to see what is causing the thumping,
for the sneaking, a stealth check with shield stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
He would still like to take 20 on perception, is he looking around the corner into a hallway or a room?
Edit: if you don't mind me reading your thoughts captain, save the enlarge for when his armor is than 16, I think that would put him at 14, not that I won't play it however you want :)
Rhea Stardust
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
He is looking around the corning into another halway. There is a smallish scorpiod creature there. It's banging hard at the door to the store room trying to get it. Must smell something it wants?
Oh, now you smell it to. Nasty. Like rotten meat or fish bait. Ewe.
Rhea Stardust
The scorpiod does not see you.
Merelinda Falvian
After some indecision, Merelinda decides to follow the intrepid party members to the supply room. A bit more outfitted, she feels confident they can take out this one scorpiod. She draws her dagger and shield, in case they are needed. She thinks Ivar can probably handle it, though.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
you read my thought captain,
no, save it for something bigger, its just a small scorpiod
Ivar moves quickly around the corner toward the scorpiod to attack it
not sure what to do about initiative so this will be his attack in what ever order you would like :)
battle axe attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 for damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
edit: or not, Merelinda, or not
Rhea Stardust
Ivar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
scorp: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
SURPRISE ROUND Ivar runs viking-style right up to the creature you can only take a move action in the surprise round
As the scorpiod sees vidar coming it lifts it's claws up to cover it's face from the inevitable blow...Poor little guy.
ROUND 1, Vidar goes first...
still want to kill it? Are you sure? Last chance!
Rhea Stardust
Oh man, I screwed up with you didn't i Tusara! Don't worry, I will honor your standing "intent not to blast allies" from now on...I'll clarify any line of sight questions I have before assuming. Cast away.
Rhea Stardust
Geeperz Merelinda is SLOOOOW!
Scorpiod: after i'm done with this viking I think I'll eat the pretty calistrian priestess...yum yum...
Tusara Khione
Nah, its ok, I still think Ivar moved first in his surprise round, so I couldn't cast regardless, I'll just search another part of the ship like the cpatains office
Rhea Stardust
these are the same fellows that tried to eat Ivar on the beach , yes? Since the fish soup was a little thin, unless this fellow wants to wait and jump in the pot for us, then yeah Ivar wants to kill it.
Well with an attack roll of 9 you MISS! It fights back...
claw: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
claw: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
sting: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
But can't hit Ivar in his armor.
Merelinda, Albrect you are up. And Tusara if she is nearby.
Rhea Stardust
He won't survive long enough to take a nibble at you. Ivar Is going to crush him next attack roll. I kinda feel sorry for him...CR1/4 vs Ivar. Not fair at all.
Rhea Stardust
Tusara are you exploring the Captains Cabin, or the Larder?
Captain Albrecht
Unless he would get in the way of Ivar(squeezing etc), Albrecht orders Bartimaeus to attack the creature.
Get it Bartimaeus, more delicious lobster... thing.
attack : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
bite damage : 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Plenty of meat shields? You are with 2 sorcerers and a fighter. I think that puts you next of the meaty shield list :)
Rhea Stardust
lucky lobster!
Scorpiod: What? Kitty? Oh, yummy yum yum. Here kitty kitty.
Rhea Stardust
The captain’s cabin is a wreck — a jagged hole in the side has allowed most of the room’s contents to sill out into the surf and wash away. But still in the room to explore:
overturned desk (fortunately, the desk was too large to fit through the hole in the wall). There are:
upper drawers
middle drawers
lower drawers
Which ones do you try?
Julian "Knives" Veartoll
"Avast, scorpid... time a pair of claws to add to my new necklace!"
Julian pounces on the thing from nowhere, attacking with his cane sword. You remember that Julian was following, right?
Melee: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 111d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Rhea Stardust
BACK IN LOBSTER ENCOUNTER:
end round 1
start round 2
VIDAR KILL THAT THING! KILL IT!
edit: Julian, Where T F did YOU come from?? Miss. Lucky lobster.
Rhea Stardust
Tusara: in the upper drawers
several keys
several sea charts and maps,
the captain’s log
Will you look at one of these? Or try the middle or lower drawers?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
actually because he is only using his shield {he left the breastplate on the beach so he could have the lower swim number) the 17 would hit :0
I knew he could only get close to the Scorpiod, wasn't sure if you roll initiative or if we do, so when everyone else is done
Ivar, bleeding from his ankle pulls his axe out of the floor boards and attacks lunch the Scorpiod again
battle ax attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 for damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Edit:Hey Julian, got to love those quite thieves, not the loud yappy type :)
Julian "Knives" Veartoll
Julian is silent as the grave... unless he has rum... or is in foul weather... or is parlaying... or if there is booty to be raided... and of course when he is singing... but hey, it could be worse, 'oy roight?
Rhea Stardust
Ivar's axe splits the scorpiod in half. It lets out a sickening squeel as it dies. Stepping on it's exo-skeletoned body with a crunch, Ivar tries the door...it's stuck!
Rhea Stardust
Oh, and END COMBAT.
Rhea Stardust
Tusars, the middle desk drawer is locked! Break DC 23, Disable Device DC 25). Do you wish to try to open it? Or proceed to the lower drawer?
Rhea Stardust
Julian, the door is locked! Disable Device DC25.
Rhea Stardust
In this lower drawer is a long leather satchel that holds a dozen potions for emergency use:
four potions of cure light wounds,
a potion of cure moderate wounds,
four potions of lesser restoration,
a potion of remove disease,
a potion of water breathing,
and a potion of water walking.
As you pull these things out of the drawer you notice something else in the room - a large footlocker leaning against the desk...
Merelinda Falvian
Merelinda would weep with pride if she could see you. ;P
Putting away her rather unblemished dagger, the priestess smiles at the efficiency of her companions. Yes, they would do quite nicely. She walks forward, touching Julian's hand while whispering, "The Savored Sting guides your hand this day." She arches a reddish-brown brow, saucy smile on her face as she steps back to allow the man room to work.
Julian "Knives" Veartoll
Julian breaks out his picks and sets to work on the door.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 1 = 18
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 1 = 8
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 1 = 14
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 1 = 14
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 1 = 20
.... cursing, he takes off his armor and tries again.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
And is rewarded with the click of the lock at last. He begins putting on his armor.
"Coming!
So saying he hurries over to the captains room where he heard the cry for a locksmith!
