Rhea Stardust
Mobutu and Ivar, as you speak you notice there are largish multicolored tropical fish swimming with you.
Rhea Stardust
MAP UPDATED. Scroll south into the water. This is what I gather from reading your posts.
Albrecht, Panzer, Bayani, I left you standing knee deep on the shore...are you guys swimming too? If so, simply move yourselves where you wish to be.
Mobutu can you update to your new icon by yourself on the map? Or do you want me to do it for you?
The fish are all colors of the rainbow, lively, and brave. They bump right into your feet, school around you, and dart between your armpits and under your legs. Sasha squeels with delight as they tickle her bare skin...
Mobutu Sese Seko
Congrats indeed Tusara! Image changed!
"Luck favors the bold." he says distantly, thinking about the phrase. "Well the bold favor fast results!"
As he turns to long stroke he notices the fish and points at it. "Wooow! Look at how big that thing is!"
Captain Albrecht
Yes! Congrats on the job, or possible job
Albrecht hasn't yet given up on operation make lazy drunks do things
Albrecht takes a moment to look incredulous. The priorities of these people... baffling
Vell you are a raft maker now, and you too gentleman. Pointing at Gelik. Zey said zee ship von't stay out zere forefer so vee must hurry. But stay togezer and don't go too far, vee don't know vat could be out here.
Albrecht begins looking for driftwood and poking about in the nearby jungle.
Merelinda Falvian
Merelinda smiles as she listens to the banter ahead of her. Quietly to Tusara, she adds, "Luck does indeed favor the bold. So does death." She keeps her emerald eyes on the other woman's for a moment, gauging her reaction as they kick their legs.
Her brow furrows a bit at the arrival of the fish. She is quite glad that they are hanging out with the forward people and not the two ladies. She continues onward, knowing that gathering these supplies is the wise course, but wishing to be back on land as soon as possible.
Tusara Khione
Tusara glides through the water, her stroke obviously rusty, but still graceful, having learned how to swim as a girl although as she got older it was more difficult for her to get the practise she wanted. Her dress weighs her down slightly as she swims but Tusara perseveres, following close behind the priestess.
Tusara thoughtfully considers the remark, but certainly couldn't disagree. Her teacher had been bold, heck, she had been bold and while she was still breathing she couldn't deny the role that luck had played in those situations. "No arguments here", she answers "Perhaps its a good thing they have us to protect them now isn't it?"
Rhea Stardust
Suddenly, the large fishes become agitated. A moment later they dart away. Something has spooked them...
Merelinda Falvian
The priestess grins at her lovely counterpart, her eyes widening as she sees the fish dart away. She might not know the sea, but creatures only ran off like that when predators were approaching. She curses her choice to swim to the ship.
Julian "Knives" Veartoll
Seeing the fish leave, Knives swims faster toward the boat.
Let's see.... sharks, those tiny things that native called 'Piranhas', squids, whales, dolphins.... what lovely new thing is trying to eat us now?
Rhea Stardust
MAP UPDATED. Everyone is pretty much together, Ivar. The map is accurate.
Ivar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Albrecht: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Merelinda: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Julian: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Tusara: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
Bayani: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Mobutu: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
SURPRISE ROUND
Suddenly to the left you see a jagged dorsel fin cutting through the water...it's headed right for Sasha! Although a brave girl, Sasha screams in terror. She HATES sharks!
It's time to fight: MANTAQUE, THE SURF JANGLER, TERROR OF THE SHACKLES!
Round 1
Albrecht
Julian
Merelinda
Ivar
Tusara
Mobutu
Bayani
Monsters bumped down one notch for clarity of play
Merelinda Falvian
Merelinda says a silent prayer of thanks to Calistria for sending the shark at Sasha and not her. After a brief moment of tactical thinking, and gauging the distance between shore and the ship, she performs an about face, paddling for the beach for all she is worth. She maintains a death grip on the log she is using to keep herself afloat, shrugging almost apologetically at the sorceress right behind her.
Rhea Stardust
haha! Merelinda is running away! Ivar and Julian are toast!!!
Julian "Knives" Veartoll
As if... I have a wonderful net and many daggers to pin it to the beastie with. All her running means is that she doesn't get a share of the shark's fin soup I will be making from its corpse later... ;)
Bayani Nishou
"What... where are you going? Jukkete!"
Swearing in elven, Bayani tries to swim as quickly as he can to reach Sasha.
Swim check to swim as a move action: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Trying again...
Swim check to swim as a move action: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
However, he goes under, swallowing water, and has to gasp for air before moving forward. Only able to move 1/4 speed = 7.5 ft which rounds down to 5. A full round to move 1 square... -_-
Captain Albrecht
Albrecht leaps into action. Move action to pickup a stick. Standard action to move 20 feet back onto the beach. Free action to drop stick.
What are they yelling about out there?
Impossible INT check near lazy people INT : 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
This will be the best pile of sticks ever.
Albrecht looks out towards the group.
Oh my that looks bad, and they didn't even make it 100 feet.
Rhea Stardust
Julian swim check 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20. rats!
Rhea Stardust
Merelinda swim check 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19. Double rats!
Rhea Stardust
Bayani, you don't go under water. The bay is calm. DC10. So you can move 1/2 your speed toward your love interest. Which the shark is about to eat.
I moved you. Map updated.
Rhea Stardust
So that leaves us m'-heah...
Round 1
Albrecht - misses out on the action for leaving the group, but RPs it very well:)
Julian - treads water, pulls knives, gets ready to make shark soup.
Merelinda - tries to swim away!
Ivar - treads water. pulls knife and stabs the shark for 8!
Tusara
Mobutu - grabbs the shark! Ride em cowboy!
Bayani - although he swims awkwardly, Bayani makes it to Sasha...
Monsters -8 GRAPPLED
Rhea Stardust
Sasha: Help! Oh someone help! It's such a big shark and has such large teeth! Oh save me...
Tusara Khione
Tusara feels the anxiety bubbling through her stomach but she pushes it away. Her friends are depending on her. Taking a deep breath, Tusara moves forward slightly to gain a clear shot, before firing a blast of magical energy into the shark from an angle.
I believe its possible for Tusara to move and then hit the edge of the shark with Colour Spray without hitting a party member or NPC. If this is not the case, she will simply swim backwards, as her spells are useless if everyone clusters together, and casting spells in the water makes it difficult in the best of times.
Swim Check: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18
Concentration Check to cast spell at Underwater Target (DC 16): 1d20 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 1 + 5 = 24
Rhea Stardust
Haha, you are trying to pass the shark out by hitting him in the tail fin with a colorspray? I messed with the triangle for a while but can't see how you would miss Mobutu who has the shark grappled. So:
shark fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 saves!
Mobutu: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Fails.
Mobutu passes out, releasing the shark. He will begin to drown next round if someone doesn't save him...
Sharkys turn!!!
Rhea Stardust
it's dinner time! the Shark thinks to itself. Opening it's maw wide, the shark bites poor sasha 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Sasha begins to bleed profusely turning the bay red all around you...
The shark then darts underneath you guys (no AoA) turns around, and makes a second pass...this time it's headed for Ivar! MAP UPDATED
Round 2
Albrecht
Julian
Merelinda
Ivar
Tusara
Mobutu
Bayani
Monsters
Albrecht I can't think of anything exciting for you to do on the beach all alone, sorry! Would you like an albino ape to burst out of the jungle and attack you and Panzer or something??
Rhea Stardust
Shark HP: 6/14
Tusara Khione
Guess you missed
I believe its possible for Tusara to move and then hit the edge of the shark with Colour Spray without hitting a party member or NPC. If this is not the case, she will simply swim backwards, as her spells are useless if everyone clusters together, and casting spells in the water makes it difficult in the best of times.
I would never cast a spell like colour spray if it would hit a party member. I assumed the cone was possible since I could move Tusara (move action and hence the swim check) and then cast the spell to only nick the shark. It appears that there has been a lot of movement though since looking at the map when I last made my post.
Color Spray is also a WILL Save, but the Shark apparently rolled Fort.
Rhea Stardust
Ivar's knife sinks deeply into the shark, right betwix the eyes. It thrashes violently then goes still. After a moment, it rolls belly up. Below, on the bottom of the clear blue water, you see scorpiod lobsters start to gather (harmless to you guys) waiting for the carcass to sink.
END COMBAT
Merelinda Falvian
Merelinda turns about as she hears the sounds of triumph, starting to swim back now that the menace has been taken care of. Unashamedly she continues towards the ship, letting the others try to salvage the shark if they can.
Rhea Stardust
Albrecht, with the NPCs help you are finally able to get a raft slammed together. Though it doesn't look like much, it might just be sturdy enough to tow a shark carcass... MAP UPDATED.
Merelinda Falvian
The priestess slowly makes her way to Sasha, calling upon Calistria to heal the woman's wounds. She smiles apologetically as she lays her hand upon the redhead's shoulder.
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Burning Bless for Cure Light
Rhea Stardust
Sasha is no coward, but getting eaten by a shark was not top of her list. She thanks Merelinda profusely.
MAP UPDATED. The ship is now there, if you scroll south.
Captain Albrecht
Awesome now I'm the other kind of captain too. :)
Albrecht with the help of Aerys and Gelik drag a couple of loosely connected logs into the water. A near-sighted optimistic man would probably call it a raft, if it was a particularly dark night.
Ahoy zee sea! Captain Albrecht here! I hafe prepared a fessel!
Albrecht shoves the raft into the water and does something like swimming while pushing it.
swim: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
He is going to need help.
Merelinda Falvian
Merelinda chuckles as the woman thanks her. Perhaps in her panic, she had not seen that the priestess (along with the sorceress) was the only one who had not attempted to assist her. Still, no need to mention such things. The priestess nods at the woman's thanks, smiling impishly, her touch lingering on the woman's shoulder before she goes back to swimming towards the wreck.
Julian "Knives" Veartoll
Julian swims over to Ivar (taking a ten for a 19 check) and helps the man begin to wrap the shark in is net.
"Come on, matey... this beastie has been marauding these coasts for years... time to have soup made out of it and maybe take a few teeth for luck charms... Besmara has surely blessed us this day, eh?"
So saying he begins to help Ivar take the shark to shore.
Rhea Stardust
You drag the shark to shore. From it's teeth you make a necklace. The right buyer out for revenge against the famous shark would surely pay 100gp for it. And from it's carcass you make fine Fin Soup. Which restores you all to full hp. Then when everyone is healed, you all swim back out to the Jenivere. Standing on her cracked and broken deck, you peer inside to explore. The few rooms remaining are:
Captain’s Cabin
Larder
Supply Room
MAP UPDATED
What do you do?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
Ivar, arming shield and ax AC 16, Concerned more about long term supplies he will go to the supply room
If need be we can hunt, but there are a few supplies that we cannot replicate, I will head to the supply room, if anyone wants to accompany me
he steps carefully and keeps a weather eye out
with your permission he will take 20 on perception
Rhea Stardust
off the maps, just quick and easy...
Ivar explores the corridors of the ship. Up ahead of Ivar is a corner to the left. Around the corner you know sits the supply room. You can hear a thumping and banging coming from around that corner...
Now what do you do?
Rhea Stardust
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Rhea Stardust
Sasha, ever the adventurous NPC, follow Ivar. She puts her hand on his back. What do you think is making that noise, strong viking?
