Is this still recruiting? I have an idea for a tormented Darth-Vader-like Magus or something who believes that it's just too late for him to have any hope for redemption and now serves the will of Asmodeus and others, going through the motions, trying to maintain what little honor he has left, and being willing to commit terrible acts when his grief and rage overwhelm him, but all the while hating his masters and more importantly, hating himself.

@ DM: I can live with bumping to 12 CON but don't I lose sentience if WIS drops below 7? Maybe that was INT...
I would love becoming an actual vampire later. No idea on their stats but it sounds cool storywise.
My profile has my crunch. Skills are still outdated until I get hero lab back on saturday. Bat Shape feat is specific to were bat kin and let's me become a specific tiny bat as per Beast Shape 2.
Skinwalkers are similar to 3.5 shifters from Eberron. They get a single Spell-Like ability and racial skill bonus specific to the subtype. They can shape shift certain number of times per day as a standard action. They can be in this Bestial Form as long as they like, gaining a +2 to a specific physical ability score, a single special ability picked from the specific subtypes list, and a -4 to social skills dealing with non shapechangers.
Were-bat kin get obscuring mist (1/day), +2 Handle Animal and Perception (night only). Their Bestial Form gives them +2 DEX, -4 social and can choose one of the following:
1d6 bite attack, +4 Perception, 30 ft scent, or reduce fall damage by 20 ft.
Bestial Form is a supernatural ability.

@GM - Well, with how Leadership works, I have to be level 18 to get an Erinyes cohort. The Erinyes counts as a level 16 cohort, and your cohort has to start out at two levels lower than you are, regardless of what your Leadership score is. So at level 18 I don't think that constant True Seeing would be that much of a problem.
What's more likely is that at level 7 I'll grab a regular human fighter cohort(built to be a bodyguard), at level 9 I'll trade him out for the Hell Hound(Level 7 cohort), then at level 10 I'll trade him out for the Shadow Mastiff(Level 8 cohort). Then I'll probably stick with the Shadow Mastiff until level 18, when I could conceivably get the Erinyes as my ultimate goal.
Of course, if the human fighter works out as a bodyguard I may just keep him. But I really like the image of an Infrit having a big, otherworldly dog as his faithful companion and bodyguard. Especially one that can blend into the shadows and disappear like the Shadow Mastiff can.
EDIT: Actually, I just saw that the Worg is a Level 5 monster cohort, so I'd probably start with him. Keep with the theme of big dogs.

Even thought you said recruitment ends at 50 posts, I'd really like to play this campaign (I only just found the thread D:)
My character would be a Tiefling bard arrested for attempted murder. She often uses bard illusionary tactics to hide her fiendish features, although most are hardly noticeable as is.
She is based on a succubus, in that she uses the promise of pleasure and the art of seduction to get what she wants, which is money and power, in that order.
She had just seduced her way into a high-ranking officials chambers, having him completely bedazzled and distracted from his surroundings and was about to finish him off, but she lost focus on her own illusion, thus her true appearance was exposed.
Being as devote as he was, and Tieflings being incredibly rare in a city that would kill them without hesitation, the shock breaks her hold over him and he overpowers her and calls for his guards.
Being Lawful Evil, this was a huge blow to her honor, not only sentenced for a crime, and being taken prisoner, but being defeated by someone she deemed inferior to herself.
Had she been found normally, then her sentence most likely would've been carried out then and there, but she was caught committing a crime and thus would be imprisoned and executed as was the treatment of criminals.
This they would regret. His death was going to be swift and painless, another body to add to the ladder of her ascent. She was killing for gain, it wasn't meant to be personal.
Now it is.
Now she's killing for revenge.
EDIT: I'd also like to have her be Rakshasa-Spawn (Beastbrood) as I believe it ties in well with why she seeks out material and earthly pleasures and is driven to overthrow the rule of mortals and instill her own dominion.

@Fletch. That's cool. I can see you sitting shackled in your cell and then next minute... screw you guys i'm outa here lol. Transforms and fly's out. Seeing as how there is meant to be teanwork in escaping, i hope you have some good reasons to do so.
@Unruly. Just read the monster consort rules and sounds alot better. I think i might allow it.
@Jacqui and Zousha and others. Recruitment not yet closed. Still some time left. Once it closes I will give a week or two for characters to come together and myself to get ready before I choose. Rush to dot, but plenty of time to craft your characters.
Edit: @Viluki. Yes it is.

Unruly |
@GM - I appreciate you at least looking it over rather than outright banning it. Leadership can get crazy, but I don't plan on using it to be some infinite-money scheme that involves spellcasters making magic items and simulacra. That's just way too cheesy. I'm just trying to make my guy the best "mafioso" he can be. And what kind of boss doesn't have a bunch of bodyguards?

![]() |

I'm wondering how best to do this character. I'm thinking of using the Duel to the Death trait. Hot-blooded and easily riled, but I also want to emphasize the Being Evil Sucks trope with this character, sort of a "Darth Vader done RIGHT" if you know what I mean. I'm just unsure if the campaign will lend itself to that kind of a character, or if it'd just be easier to be a sociopathic "MWAHAHAHA" kinda guy.

Unruly |
@Zousha - You're supposed to revel in being evil in this campaign. You don't have to go full-on Chaotic Stupid or anything, but you're still supposed to not really feel bad either. Remember, this is the campaign where the bad guys win. So I think it's more supposed to exemplify the Evil Feels Good trope.
Personally, I'm going to try to play my guy a bit like Tony Montana mixed with the Goodfellas guys, namely Jimmy the Gent. I'll have my code, like keeping my word, taking care of my associates, not intentionally hurting children, etc, but I won't feel bad about the things I do.

JustJacqui |

I'm putting this separate because I don't know if editing would result in a re-roll.
I kinda wish her dex was higher, mainly because she (was) supposed to be flexible and agile :/
Adding in modifiers these are my stats:
Str 8
Dex 10 = 8 +2(racial)
Con 14
Int 15
Wis 10 = 12 -2(racial)
Cha 20 = 18 +2(racial)

Kana Cherryblossom |

Not sure if focussing on level 7 or 18 or something similar is anywhere near necessary. Focussing on a fun character that is viable through all the levels is surely a more rewarding thing to do. Also like the GM said, it´s a game of cooperation and stuff. 5 evil overlords in one group are probably going nowhere.

Unruly |
I'm not really focusing on any level, I'm simply looking forward. My character should be viable as he is just by virtue of his class abilities. Not only can I act as a party face because of my high charisma, but I can act as an impromptu trap-finder as well by using my summons and my eidolon if I need to. And my limited spontaneous spellcasting should help things as well.
I'm just asking if Leadership is going to be allowed and telling the GM my plans for it since it's such a highly contentious feat in the majority of games. I figure if he knows ahead of time that I'm not going to cheese it up by rolling a Wizard cohort that just sits there cranking out trinkets and making me a small fortune, then it's more likely that he'll allow me to actually take the feat. And the feat really helps with my character concept of being a stereotypical mob-boss type guy. It's not really required, but having an actual NPC "crew" to send on shakedowns and stuff would be kinda nice.

IronDesk |

Since a concept very similar to my original character was posted by someone else upthread, I'll go for an Inquisitor of Asmodeus. 25 pt build
Rough sketch: Big farmboy recruited by the church of Mitra's Inquisition, but the combination of their doctrine and his own repressed upbringing leads to someone obsessed with punishing rules beakers, and he is eventually arrested for employing methods outside the church's tolerance.
It'll take me a couple of days to post a full build. Thanks for the extra time to build pressure free!

Fletch Two-Fang |

@ DM: with Bat Form I was hoping to play it off as if I had already attempted escape but they caught me and fitted me with a collar. Either a ball and chain sized for my bat form preventing me from much of anything or a +1 Sizing Shackle of Compliance (Skull and Shackles Book
I would not only wish to escape my manacles (and need help to do so) but my character is about making all of Talinguarde pay. His newest "minions" are the perfect conduit for revenge.

Seren Little |

seeing as we are getting some time to do the full character figure I should roll my focus/foible just to see how much the dice hate me.
str: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
dex: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
con: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
int: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Foible Wis 8
Focus Cha 18
and...they really hate me. I'll stick with my 25pt buy lol.
(edit: GM Question)
@GM. Any opposition to variant heritage for Aasimar? would like to potentially go Angel-Blooded Aasimar if it's available.

DM Repentance |

Riley - Ratfolk - Witch
Cole - Aasimar - Anti Paladin
Hound - Human - Barbarian
Raymond - Ifrit - Master Summoner
Fletch - Skinwalker - Alchemist
Torin - Dwarf - Monk
Eric - Human - Anti Paladin
Drahzar - Human - Ranger
Kana - Kitsune - Sorcerer
Vigor - Gnome - Sorcerer
(Me'mori) - Dhampir - Monk
(Seren) - Aasimar - Oracle
(JustJacqui) - Tiefling - Bard
I have probably missed people. This is just a quick list of characters that are sorta concrete. Others haven't decided on class/concept or haven't posted more than once.

Ralf Tergsvor |

EDIT: Just read over the thread again and spotted the recruitment-closed post I missed in my first scan. Oops, my bad; ignore everything after the well-wishes. May all applicants have the best of luck, and the accepted (and GM) an enjoyably evil game! :o)
Come on Ralf, let's go find us a village to pillage...
If it's not too late, I'm going to toss Ralf's hat... oh wait, he's all about hoods... erm, scarf into the ring. He's a Human Sadistic Vitalist Mender and was originally conceived as slightly CE (initially a normal kid who was traumatized, sort of a PTSD thing) but had to be dialed down to CN to fit in with the PCs who couldn't see the advantages of the dark side. Sadly, the E6 scenario he was in didn't make it through a single game day before the GM bailed, leaving poor Ralf in limbo. As a non-evil; talk about torture for the poor guy! Both he and I've been itchin' to get him back to evility, and NE would suit his backstory just fine.
This alias is how he was configured for the other game. It's a 20 point buy but tweaking him up to 25 wouldn't be a big deal. (Or if there's a chance he could recover his father's heirloom returning starknife during the jailbreak or whenever, I'd be willing to stay with the 20 point buy. They're about the worst possible choice for a weapon, but it's a flavor thing (for me) and means a lot (to him).)
If you're not familiar with Sadistic Vitalists, let me just say they're a blast to play if you want to lean wicked. Mentally drag an opponent kicking and screaming into your psychic collective, then get a burst of life force power when they're offed? Link to a baddie and use melee damage against them to empower your healing effects across your collective? Delectably evil fun!
He has a rich backstory but I didn't publish it because I'd planned to reveal it in character over time, which would have been a great fit for the other game. I do have a writeup I sent the other GM privately, and I can add it to the alias if desired. But the capsule summary is that a high muckity-muck was about to get caught with his hand in the till, so his buddies nabbed a scapegoat, staged a mock trial and found him guilty, and put him to death.
That scapegoat was Ralf's father. (Being Varisian, it was easy to convince people of his supposed guilt.)
Ralf basically snapped. He stole his father's prized starknife and abandoned his mother and the clan... something no sane Varisian would do. But Ralf's goal is to return with head held high and honor returned to his family name and clan, by virtue of bringing vengeance upon everyone even remotely involved with the incident.
That, of course, takes funds and information, both of which he was working on accumulating, and he could easily have been nabbed during some heist or scam carried out to those ends.
Ralf was being played within the confines of CN but you'll see the evilness seeping through in his thought processes and comments in some representative posts from the failed game:
And this was in response to the group puzzling over a strange symbol tattooed on a defeated hobgoblin's wrist when the Dwarf Barbarian suggested sketching it out for future reference:
OH... and you want convincing evidence for Asmodeus? Everybody knows that Chibi are Eeeeeevil! ("Phear the cute ones!")
Maybe a bit too "out there" for your scenario, but if you think he has promise (because he certainly thinks he does), let me know if you want a copy of the backstory, tweaks, etc.
Cheers!

Ralf Tergsvor |

No worries; I should have taken the time to read the whole thread. But thinking the clock was ticking and wanting to get a bid in, I only skimmed before posting. Which is like sending Murphy an engraved invitation.
"And you heard him exclaim as he faded from sight,
'A great game to all, and to all a good night!'"

Lorin Svorn was a man from a family of true diabolists who decided that it was time to branch out and add several warriors to their ranks. As such the already unusually strong, hardy and cunning Lorin was sent to either become a graduate of the Academae Infernal or die trying. He proved to excel at his studies and later on his martial training, he astonish his instructors with his terrifying ability to learn. In addition to studying the arts of Infernal Battle and Sorcery he also learned from the resident devil instructors and coaxed out of them the byzantine and terribly effective tactics of the Legions of the Hell.
Near the eve of his graduation from the Academae at the age of twenty one that disaster struck. The cursed faith of Mitra became the Law of the Land and the Academae and all its students as a consequence had to die. An army of over a thousand came to attack the Academae which readied its brutal defenses and weapons for the first and last siege of its four hundred year existence. It was two hundred students and a faculty of twenty against an army of self righteous paladins and angels. The battle was terrible and bloody, Lorin Svorn personally led a brigade of over twelve of the most brutal students to make a surprise attack against the coalition of inquisitors fighting with their Mitran brethren.
Sir Balin of Karfeld was the leader of these Inquisitors and while the attack caught them by surprise and killed well over tow thirds of their number the cursed witch hunter rallied his fellows and in turn Lorin's fellow students were slaughtered. In the middle of the melee Lorin engaged with a one on one duel with Balin, he wounded the man severely with his glaive wrought of hellfire but the coward refused to die honorably and screeched for his allies to save him. Lorin fought savagely killing two of the dozen mitran filth that assailed him but alas he blacked out...
He awoke to the sound of his accusers already pronouncing his death sentence and Balin gleefully telling him of the death that awaited him at the stake. Then he was hauled off to Brandenscar Prison, the Mitrans and their weakness disgust Lorin Svorn but Balin has earned his enmity and that means only one thing...Vengeance.
Lorin Svorn is a true warlord of Hell, for there be two types of devil in the Hells when you boil everything down. There are the devils who scheme endlessly, they be the archdevils and rather then seeking outright conquest (except for Moloch) they use subtle corruption to slowly turn others to the cause of Hell. Then there are the Malebranche, the ascendants devils who in order to become Lords of Hell themselves are tasked with the conquest of a mortal world. These are the devils who lead armies, these are the devils that call forth armies form the deepest reaches of Hell and these are the devils who will ultimately triumph... At least to Lorin's Svorn way of thinking.
Lorin is not the type to favor subtle plots and subterfuge (at least on a massive conspiracy wide scale, he is perfectly willing to use spies to steal maps and battle plans for him). Lorin Svorn is a warrior who favors conquest through Blood, Steel and Hellfire, however this doesn't mean he is stupid Lorin can display surprising cunning when he needs to (cunning as in the cunning of Genghis Khan). Lorin above all else desires conquest, power and glory, he is not a diabolical wizard carefully moving all the pawns into the right place... He is a conqueror who will sweep all before him in a tide of Steel, Blood and Hellfire.
Lorin does have a "sense" of honor, he will keep his word to the letter (and screw the spirit). Indeed as some may learn he may do the job "Too well", (if Lorin was a genie he would give your wishes in the worst possible way). Lorin also won't hesitate to exploit "loopholes" either, he may look like a brute but this is carefully cultivated to deceive enemy and ally alike. Lorin is willing to accept the "leadership" of another for a time but he won't follow a clear idiot and he will be expecting rewards for his service.
Lorin has tanned, bronze skin and stands at a whopping 6.5 feet tall. His bronzed head is completely bald and his eyes glint with restrained fury and power, you understand something when you look into those dark eyes which as you look at them glint with hellish energy...you will either bow or you will perish. Lorin's other defining feature is the dark blood colored pentacle which is emblazoned upon his chest, that in of itself is intimidating but for those who know what it means their is true fear and horror. The pentacle is the symbol of the legendary Hellsworn warriors who have for well over four hundred years terrorized Talingard (and pretty much every part of the world they ever reached).
GM your review?

DM Repentance |

I get internet at home tomorrow so I will add a heap of information about Talingarde and the god they all worship Mitra, the current rulers and general stuff. I added a map right up the top for quick reference. Though the whole land is Talingarde, only the land south of the lake and the wall that goes from it to each coast is controlled by the forces of Mitra. The 'Savage North' is full of bugbears and other nasties.
Review still pending guys, have had a huge day today and need to sleep now... Have read a few backstories though and liking the stories so far. Going to be tough, as usual.
Ok fair enough guys. Sorry to see you go. Good luck with that Edward.

I'm really uncertain. I've never played Way of the Wicked before, and for that matter have never played an evil character before. How friendly to the "squeamish" is this AP? Also with such other strong contenders as these a newbie to RPing here like me has very little competitiveness.
