You find some items on Rohkar. A piece of parchment, a bottle of green oil, 2 bottles of brown oil, mwk studded leather armor, a dagger, a light crossbow with 10 bolts, mwk short sword, a cloak, mwk theives’ tools, a keyring, a spellbook, and a wooden symbol.

Does anyone have Detect Magic, Read Magic, Knowledge (religion) and/or Craft (alchemy)? Not sure if slide 9 is up to date. If you do get a chance to update your numbers on that slide.

"This keys might work on those chests. Also would anyone mind if I grabbed this armor and thee thieves' tools?"

Kishai has Craft(alchemy) +8 for checks and +10 to craft alchemical items, and I updated my numbers for knowledge on the slide.

Question - the alchemist ability to identify potions by holding them: some GMs allow this for identifying oils as well since they are made through alchemy, some GMs don't as the ability only mentions potions. What is your guidance on the matter?

Kishai puts on her new armor, takes Rohkar's keys, and tries them on the two chests. For any that do not open she tries out her new thieves' tools. She gathers up the rest of Rohkar's possessions and anything found in the chests and places them on a table in the main room.
She will try to pick Rohkar's chest first and then Penny's if the keys don't open either one of them

Mordred got so caught up in his duty wrapping up the bodies for burial, he didn't not notice at first the knock on the door, turning towards the door he motions to Garasay before answering. Greataxe close by he opens the door and says, "Hello?"" when he notices the visitor did not seem to have his weapons out.

Dhakor gives a half bow as the door opens. "Ah, at last. Well met, ranger. My name's Dhakor and I've come to see who's been messing up the rivers with all this snow and ice. I was hoping I could rest in your lodge tonight."

He starts as he suddenly notices Mordred's injuries. "Hey, what happened to you? I'm a priest, so I can fix you up in exchange for lodging."

I just arrived myself and found the others here in combat with the zombies and the necromancer over there. The door was also trapped. You're lucky you didn't run into a trap.

Kishai, being less social than most, listens to the others talking as she continues to search the rooms and try to open the two chests.


Yeah craft alchemy can identify potions & oils.

Kishai tries the one of the keys she found on Rohkar. They open one chest but not the other. One of the keys seems to be tiny.

The chest holds a gold ingot engraved with the Taldan royal seal, a spyglass, a silver lady's ring, three shards of tiger's eye gemstones, a fine pair of leather riding boots of elven make, a silver dagger, and a leather portfolio containing several pieces of parchment.

Kishai busts open the second chest. This chest contains a healer's kit (5 uses remaining), a belt pouch with 25 sp, and a bottle of liquid.

Read Magic:
Items in chest: You cast read magic and you identify that 4 of these parchments are scrolls of magic. You discover that these are a scroll of endure elements, two scrolls of magic weapon, and a scroll of unseen servant.

Items Rohkar had: You read magic and determine this parchment contains the spell Animate Dead. You also can read the spells in the spellbook and they are as follows: alarm, chill touch, expeditious retreat.feather fall, identify, locate object, and ray of enfeeblement. You do not see a name on the spellbook.

Detect Magic:
You detect magic on the cloak, one of the bottles of liquid and all of the parchment. Go ahead and roll two spellcrafts if you have detect magic prepared today.

If you have craft alchemy you may try and identify the oils, go ahead and roll two.

Go ahead and roll an untrained knowledge (religion) to identify the religious symbol.

Kishai collects up all of the items from Rohkar and the two chests and places them on the table in the main room. She addresses the others "I've already grabbed Rohkar's armor and thieves' tools. I could also make use of this healer's kit if noone else would like it. Here is the rest in case anyone wishes to utilize it"

At Mordred's direction, Garrasay takes up a position by the door as it is opened. "Rrrgggggg. The woods are teaming with travelers today."

At the mention of zombies, he whirls around, flail at the ready to smash any more of the undead.
After a moment of not seeing anything he turns back to the newcomer. Although in a bad mood, the blue person has still raised a very curious question. "How can you distinguish the corpse of a zombie from that of any other creature? rrrrrRRRR" he asks.

Satisfied that the newcomer wasn't a threat and not feeling particularly sociable he goes back to preparing the corpses for burial.

Still not interested in participating in a meet and greet, Kishai heads over to Garrasay to see how she can assist. While helping prepare the bodies she makes measurements and notes about their wounds and condition in her notebook. Out of respect for the gnoll's distress she is very careful to not do anything that might be construed as disrespectful to Gavinia's body.

Garrasay's anger flared again at Satu's suggestion

He hammered the table with his fist
"Garrrrrrr! No! We will not deny nature her due and dishonour the fallen by burning the corpses to ash. If they cannot be returned to the earth according to civilized traditions, then they will be returned to the beasts of the land with a sky burial."

Petal rustled frantically, trying to calm him down.

Garrasay took a couple of deep breaths "The lady you seek is safe in a cellar below us. rrrrrrrrrr." He pointed to the door in the floor.

Kishai looks up from preparing the corpses and finally acknowledges Satu's continued request, responding with an exasperated tone. "I am also here with my companion Cnut to find the Lady and ensure her return. I was not merely pillaging. As I mentioned before we had not yet explored the lodge and there was a chance of additional raiders or other dangers. There is still a locked door upstairs as well which has not yet been explored.

The lady is safe in the basement. We have spoken with her and she has agreed to stay there until we are sure that the rest of the building is cleared of dangers. That pile of things was merely collected while I was checking the remaining rooms on this floor in order to ensure her safety."

He looks over the motley crew. "So you're not the rangers then? I was told this was the rangers' lodge. Were these guys the rangers? They don't really strike me as that rangery. Hm. Don't suppose whoever was making the zombies was also making the snow? That'd probably be too convenient."

"Well, I've still got some healing on offer if you want some. It'll fix anyone nearby, so you might want to bring your basement lady up if she's hurt."

You can use K(A) for that, right? I rarely play full casters, so mostly the fluids I'm responsible for identifying are "Yeah, that's definitely blood. Not mine. Probably used to belong to that dead half-orc over there."

This might be the party i've been traveling with, but i scouted ahead. It seems there are several factions interested in the ladys whereabouts and this strange weather...what was your name again dogman? My name is Satu.

You open the door and see 3 taldan knights enter in. They have little blue dots on their face and they all look grumpy as the shuffle in and shake the snow off of them. "This blasted snow, where is it coming from and has the Lady been found?"

Yes the lady has been found. There was some resistance here and a necromancer. I met these fellows in a heavy battle with them and they assured me the lady in safely in the basement. I have no reason to mistrust them so far.

Are these knights from the same people that sent me and Cnut here to find the lady? Not knowing that I'm unsure how to respond to them

Kishai looks up from where she was helping Garrasay. "Good day. Are you associated with the council of Heldren? My companion and I were sent to return Lady Argentea to Heldren safely and have met these others who seem to also be looking for her. We have been too involved in clearing the lodge of bandits to be able to find out if we are working for the same people or not. The lady is safe."

Mordred makes sure the female h-Orc that he knocked out is in the area for the channel after double checking her bindings, After she is awake, he kneels down next to her, "I am sorry I had to do that, I couldn't risk you turning against us in our time of need. As it was we lost one of our number so if I ask you a question I would like it answered."

After the knights enter, "we have a prisoner here, I'm sure you can question her if you want." pointing towards the half-orc. "All the same to you I don't know if we can trust her, but I'm willing to give it a shot if she can confirms some information."

"Hello, how are you feeling?" he asks her. "My name's Dhakor and I'm here looking into the snow. This cleric you were working for - " He points at Rhokar "- do you know if he had anything to do with the strange weather?"


Kishai the council of Heldren sent you. These knights are the Taldan nights from Oppara. So basically a lot of rescue missions were organized.

The knights respond, ”Good the lady is found. We will take her home as soon as possible and get out of the wretched snow.” He rubs his blue dotted face a little. ”Take me to her so that we can leave.”

The half-orc responds to Mordred, ”You could have just let me walk out of here. Now I get to spend my days in an Oppara jail.” She seems to have a look of distaste as she peers at the knights entering the lodge.

She then responds to Dhakor, ”I’m feeling rather unfortunate. Yea, I’m pretty sure he has something to do with the cold weather. He often goes out back to talk to a blue creature. I don’t know I just recently joined up with him and he was down on his luck just like I was but then a day later he says he's got a job for his men and we made our way here. He said he didn’t trust me yet and I had to stay in the kitchen.”

Satu stands by idle as the knight talks, trying to keep a smooth face. It's pretty obvious though she's not too pleased about the attitude.

She then notices the half-orc for the first time really.
Guess there's worse things than an Oppara jail. A blue creature you say? Can you describe it a bit more? Is it small, large, flying?

Sadly i think i don't have the right knowledge check.

Morde shrugs at the h-Orc comments, "I'm sure the lady can speak up if necessary to what you say. A life of crime is never easy, Orc. Keep that in mind next time."

Mordred also looks over the Knights, "Not to be picky, but I would prefer not to turn over the lady until she is ok to leave with you, I'll need her to confirm that first." Morde don't turn his back on them until he finds out and keeps his guard up.

Mordred will not let them have her without her permission. I don't know if they are enemies of her family or maybe people that paid for her kidnapping.

Garrasay give a low grumbley sigh and heads over the the hatch in the floor. Although they may not have completely searched the place, the lodge now had so many people in it he thought it unlikely that she would be threatened by any remaining stragglers they might find.

Petal sat on his head, a wreath of flowers crowning his bestial visage in order to reduce his feral look and put the lady more at ease.

He plucks a flower from Petal and holds it down to the Lady. It was a calculated move so that she would not misinterpret his intent as he reached down into the cellar. When she took the flower he opened his hand in an offer to help her out of her prison.

Morde Takes notice of Kashai backing him up on his play, not seeing anyone else take it up, Morde positions himself close to her and Garrasay if anything goes down. Not know if he can trust anyone else right now, At least I know she has some honor.


The knights respond to Mordred, "That is fine, she will know who we are." He moves up to the fire to warm up.

Penny responds to Satu & Dhakor, "It's small and flies, it does wear a funny hat. He did meet with it often. I don't know what they discussed."

Lady Argentea reaches out for the assistance. She is a little taken aback by the appearance of you and a moving plant but she appears to be grateful for the help. When she climbs out, notices the knights and she walks forward to them. One of the knights looks up at her and says, "Your father has sent us to rescue you and bring you home. I am glad to find you safe as I am sure your father will be too." She let's out a sigh of relief. He continues, "Also, he's not to happy about the scandal you caused."

"Flying is tricky." Dhakor frowns. "Someone walking, there's some chance of tracking them in the snow - not that I've had much experience with that. But flying means they're not even leaving footprints."

"Hopefully, when it turns up, we'll see it before it realises this guy's dead. Seems unlikely though. Hmm. May as well look through his things to see if there's any clue there."

Seeing the lady is happy to go with the knights, Sisu relaxes. She looks around at the group. "Well, I at least have accomplished the task I set out to do, as the lady is safe. There are several things that still should be looked into. There is still a door upstairs in Rohkar's study that might have some useful information hidden behind it, and there's the task of ensuring the lady makes it safely back to her home."

Wondering if I should bring up the reward that the Heldren council offered for her return...not sure if that was an actual thing or just a plot hook GM gave me when Cnut and I joined the group

At Kishai's mention of the strange weather Morde raises his head, "We too (motioning with his axe at Garrasay) are also curious about the finding the cause of this weather, I would welcome any assistance on trying to find out who is behind this."

Looking towards Dhakor, "We are also in serious need of a healer , I believe the gods must have sent you, please consider joining us."
