You're right Jorgo, a downed person would make a DELICIOUS meal for them!

Votun Raveneye |

Round 3
Seeing the father drop, Votun moves next to him and heals him.
_______________________________________________
Move next to Kirridell
Cast Infernal Healing on Kirridell, giving him fast healing 1. This round would be 1 effectively stabilizing him.

Colberg |

Round 3
"Ahhgh, Damn them Mosquitoes." Colberg dashes as fast as his short legs can carry him over to the fire by the priest, grabbing anything flammable to use a torch against the awful bugs.

Kirridell Jinae |

The flow of blood from the multitude of bites covering Kirridell's body abates and the colour slowly returns to his face....although he remains unconscious for the time being....
Fast Healing 1 automatically stops the Bleed damage and stabilises Kirridell...regaining 1 Hit Point per round, he is now on -1 Hit Point and is still unconscious

Jorgo |

Jorgo is a bit relieved at the sight of the magical healing taking place on father Kirridell – and even more so when the mosquitos fly away from the source of fire next to him. Hoping that the flame will last a bit longer, he bandages his punctures to stop the bleeding.
is the fire from alchemist’s fire going to last long, or is it going out next round? If so, Jorgo will also move next to the previously built fireplace.
Heal to stop the bleeding: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 nice! do I still lose the hp this round?

Pendin Fust |

The mosquitoes buzz around confusedly for a moment.
This round they are paralyzed from the smoke.

Votun Raveneye |

Pendin, please organize us. Are we still in rounds? Where are we? Can you summarize last round?
Votun has nothing useful to do except harsh language, so he moves to put himself between swarm and the smoke and says. "Move to this side of the smoke."

Pendin Fust |

You are still in combat, the mosquitoes moved to get away from the fire started in the grass by it. You should be positioned where you are on the Mosquito Encounter link under my name, unless you moved in your round but didn't update the map. The mosquitoes are paralyzed for this round due to smoke and fire, but will be fine next round. The fire in the grass will last for 3 rounds total (2 more at this point). I believe it is Sigrun's turn.

Sigrun Jagrsdottir |

Sigrun moves to stand next to Votun, realizing that against such tuny creatures, her weapons and might are effectively useless, she hopes to guard her new friend from any other possible source of attack.

Pendin Fust |

The mosquitoes seem to get their collective mind together and start fly buzzily towards Kirridell and Jorgo. The fire, though, seems to keep them from attacking at the moment.

Colberg |

Round 4
So so dumb! Why didn't I think of this before. Stupid. Colberg swings of his back pack and starts rummaging through it. AH HA! He yells triumphantly pulling out a flask of oil and some cloth, and immediately begins stuffing the cloth into the top of the flask.

Jorgo |

really, couldn't someone who can't attack drag away Kirridell? Jorgo can damage the swarm, but he won't leave the poor father to be eaten
«C'mon, let's get you out of here!» shouts Jorgo at Kirridell. He grabs the father by the wrists and moves away from the swarm.
«I wish that damn bird of yours had more of an appetite, old man... don't birds eat bugs?» shouts Jorgo at Votun.
I have no idea what kind of action dragging someone is. I'll take my whole roundto move Kirridell near the fireplace. I didn't spend my Move action the round before (post #256) so maybe Jorgo grabbed Kirridell with that action and moving him is just a Move? I don't know. If I still have an action after moving Kirridell, I can throw another bomb...

Kirridell Jinae |

Round 4
Kirridell starts to shake as he returns to consciousness, drifting in and out of lucidity, he spits blood from his mouth and tries to get a sense of where he is....
Fast Healing 1 returns Kirridell to zero HP

Pendin Fust |

It'll be a move action Jorgo, you can move your normal when dragging him (since you can drag up to 5x your max carry).

Colberg |

really, couldn't someone who can't attack drag away Kirridell? Jorgo can damage the swarm, but he won't leave the poor father to be eaten
Colberg has been solo for such a long time, his teamwork is still a bit rusty.

Votun Raveneye |

meta-gaming, the father is probably safer away from Jorgo to avoid being swarmed. Same thing with Votun stepping away from Sigrun. Besides, the father will be mobile next round anyway. Jorgo is the only one who can damage the swarm.

Pendin Fust |

Not quite meta gaming...your characters would be assessing the situation and could reasonably make that kind of conclusion. At least the higher int people could.

Jorgo |

mmm... wouldn't the mosquitos go for the unconscious body rather than the moving, fire-throwing one? I really thought this was the best course of action.
Anyway, with his remaining standard action, Jorgo will throw a bomb.
«Alright, let's get this over with!» says Jorgo once Kirridell is safely away. He grabs a flask, shakes it, and throws it at the swarm.
bomb attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 21d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 oh this is just perfect. Sorry, Colberg...

Pendin Fust |

Don't worry Jorgo, I don't ever enforce critical misses. In this case it just misses for a direct hit, but there's still splash damage for the swarm.
Critical misses don't happen in my games because I believe that the maiming rules are lopsided AGAINST the PCs. Sure, some mook could lop off their own arm, but they are disposable anyways. If a PC lops off an arm, they have to suffer the whole campaign.

Sigrun Jagrsdottir |

Round 4
Sigrin takes another step backwards, frustrated with her feeling of uselessness against such tiny creatures.

Pendin Fust |

As the fire begins to spread, the mosquitoes buzz away, off towards the east, away from the farm and the town of Heldren.
This combat's over. Feel free to RP a bit, remember there's a fire that is starting to spread in the dry grass.

Kirridell Jinae |

Gradually Kirridell staggers back to his feet and, taking in his surroundings and the risk of wildfire spread, he quickly moves to help Votun with stamping out the fire.
"Thankyou Votun...Truly, I felt death's steely grip on my soul as I lay on the cold ground yet as the shadows grew darker, it was your voice that brought me back...I am in your debt"
Fast Healing 1 for 1 minute returns Kirridell to full health

Votun Raveneye |

"My pleasure. Most people are better alive than dead." Votun oddly replies.
After the fire is out, he goes about looking for the Dansbys. This is their farm after all. "Come on. Let's find Farmer Dansby."

Jorgo |

Jorgo is doing his best to contain the flames, being the most responsible for them.
«Aye, let's hope they're still in one piece... otherwise you'll be the only old grump left in the region. We can't have that.» Jorgo makes jokes to lighten the situation, but he's actually worried Those bugs almost took down the father, and me too... I hope there's still some blood left flowing in the Dansby's veins...
if needed, Survival check to stop the fire from spreading 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 great, let's waste the natural 20s like that, mr Dice Roller, please...

Pendin Fust |

As you come up to the farm you notice that the fields on either side are missing crops—as though they were eaten—or are withered from the unseasonable cold. The farmhouse itself stands with it's door hanging from one hinge. Arrows and tiny puncture holes surround the doorframe and windows.
There is some dried blood on the ground, but no bodies you can find. The bedrooms are pictures of ransacking, feathers from mattresses and pillows that were torn apart, wardrobes thrown open, and poor clothes strewn about. In the kitchen, all the knives are missing as well as the pots and pans.

Votun Raveneye |

"Bastards. Can one of you determine when and how many raiders attacked and where they went?" Votun enters the farmhouse looking for anything that the raiders missed. He starts calling out the names of the Dansby family, in case any are still hiding.

Sigrun Jagrsdottir |

Sigrun silently studies the scene, trying to piece together the path of destruction and the direction taken by the attackers.
Survival 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Colberg |

Colberg's eyes are narrow as he surveyes the scene, clearly unhappy about what has transpired. "Hmmmmmm, why'd the witches minions do all this? We are definitely dealing with something that is not civilized."
Colberg looks around the outside for signs of which way the evil people went as well, in particular whether they raided the farm first or hit the caravan. Tracking: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Once he is satisfied he looks at the crops to see how they were "eaten" and whether they were withered from the "natural" cold, or if it was from an unnatural source. Knowledge (Nature), Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Fantastic rolls I must say.

Jorgo |

Seeing that both the dwarf and the warrior woman are covering the surrounding area looking for tracks, Jorgo decides to spend his time in different way.
While combing the old farm for traces of the Dansbys, he also looks for strong alcohol, lantern oil, and any flamable substance possibly left after the ransacking.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Pendin Fust |

I'll assume a take 20 since there is no real consequence of failing. And you do have time.
It looks like the bandits (for it does indeed appear to be the same type of arrows and curious small holes as at the caravan site) came and cleaned the farm out of any valuables and foodstuffs. You can't tell if anyone died, but by the amount of dried blood it is very likely that someone was close to death's door.
There is no organized trail of how the bandits entered the house, everything looks like it was searched, torn apart, or both. You do find a vial containing a liquid that was left or glossed over.
There are also two thick and bloodstained coats made from some kind of hide, and although torn and dirty, they look as though they could keep a person warm.
Outside you see tracks leading back towards the forest, looking to be the same kind of tracks at the caravan site.
The crops that were "eaten" seem on a closer look to have been cut with a ragged blade, maybe an old or rusty scythe. Pieces of corn and wheat are strewn about.
The crops that were withered don't appear to be magically affected...although the cold in the air certainly doesn't feel natural.

Kirridell Jinae |

"Why are there no corpses? It appears that whatever is lurking in the forest is taking prisoners..." Kirridell is visibly unnerved by the turn of events.
When people are taken, it rarely ends well...and I fear the poor owners of this farm may not have been in the best of health when they left here

Pendin Fust |

Jorgo |

«I agree... let's move. Fast» Jorgo shakes his head, angry and disappointed «They didn't even left us the bodies to bury. Whoever did this, bandit or monster, is just begging to get his neck broken. An old farmer's family, never hurt a soul in their life... Gorum curse them - may they die of tetanus!» he grits his teeth - his everlasting grin reduced to a grimace.
Then, almost forgetting «This may come in handy» he holds up the vial «it keeps your skin warm even an ice drake breathes on you. Now, master Colberg, lady Sigrun... let's get these bastards!»
if anyone wants the potion, Jorgo is not possessive about it, just ask and I'll give it to you. Right now I'll put it in my inventory

Pendin Fust |

Let me know where you are going. I've heard a suggestion but not a definitive decision.

Colberg |

Colberg joins the rest of the group at wherever everyone is, "Aye, them bastards gonna pay. Looks like they walked off ta the forest that way. Probably ain't moving too fast either, looks like they took half the poor man's crops."

Sigrun Jagrsdottir |

Sigrun drops into a crouch, studying the tracks.
Survival1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Pendin Fust |

You think they are the same types of tracks, human and booted, from the caravan site. You see pieces of dropped crops and drag marks as well. The tracks are leading back towards the caravan site, but more in the direction of the Border Wood.

Sigrun Jagrsdottir |

"It looks like they were here first. Some of the tracks lead to the caravan. The rest of them head into the borderwood."

Kirridell Jinae |

"There is no time to lose...if Colberg is right and they are slowed down, maybe we can catch them before they make camp..."
Maybe now, we will bring these villains to justice...and, I pray, rescue all those who have been taken from their homes or abducted on their travels....
Not making the same assumption as before, before striding into the woods on his own, Kirridell seeks confirmation, "I guess we are following this trail back into the woods?"
