I'm back. I'm really sorry for being away for so long, and not being able to check in, but I'm back again.
Now onto the exciting chase!
Out of curiosity, how does everyone feel about the chase scene? It's a bit different, and it's the first time I've used these chase rules, so feedback would be welcome!
It is different. I'm used to the standard rules where you have two choices; having only one means you can more easily find yourself with an unwinnable situation, depending on the DCs. Fortunately, you as the GM have some control there, and can make it challenging without being overwhelming.
I'm also not used to be the *target* of the chase, so that's a unique experience. :-)
Ah, there are multiple options available, but maybe I did not make that explicit enough. I'll make that more clear for the next round.

Has anyone heard anything from Nevinia? I just noticed she hasn't posted since August 23rd.
I haven't, and I hadn't noticed. I know my posting has been sporadic over the last few weeks, so I hope that wasn't the reason!
I sent a message to Nevinia, but it looks like all of their aliases also stopped posting at around the same time.
We can wait a tiny bit longer, but it looks like we might have to recruit another player. Alternatively, we could proceed with a smaller group?
Yeah, I have Nevinia's player in one of my games and I've had to put his character on ice as well. I'm not opposed to going on with three people, although a paladin for main healer is a little dicey.
Alternatively, we can just see if we know someone to skip the pain of the recruitment process. I'm running four games and could easily grab someone from one of 'em, for example.
I'm generally okay going with a smaller group, though we could be a little lacking in the healing department without a dedicated healer. Maybe we could get by with Cervin's lay on hands ability and LOTS of healing potions?
It's a shame we might have lost Nevinia, because I was really looking forward to the upcoming roleplaying opportunities behind her character and Yagello. Oh well, that's how it goes!
Yeah, I was liking having a character with a background that tied into mine, too.
I think we will probably want a healer as we get further in. I'd be concerned for surviving mid to high level combats ...
Yeah, if anyone knows anyone that wants to play a healer, please let me know.

It happens! In fact, it happened last night ... our Emerald Spire group managed to pull an entire level into a single fight, and I went down on round 7 of a 32 round combat. I stabilized (thankfully) while the rest of my party moved to a more defensible location, and eventually they managed to whittle the enemy down and win the day.
32 rounds?! That gave me flashbacks to this DM I once had who ran these elaborate battles that lasted multiple sessions.
Like I said, we pulled an entire level in Emerald Spire at one time. There were four PCs and several dozen enemies.
Sorry I haven't posted over the last couple of days. Sickness has been raging though my entire family, and we're all dealing with one ailment or another. I think we're slowly on the mend though, so things are looking up! :)
GM, I was also wondering if you had a chance to see where we stand in terms of experience points... Thanks!
