She silences herself, though grim anger still rests on her features.

She sits on the ground near Adele's grave, silently mourning Adele's fate and her own.

DM, please don't tell me I have to wait for my magic items to attune again.

Peaceful parley established, the elf lowers her hands and takes a more assertive stance. "I am Tahllana Skyhunter of the Tiri Kitor, daughter of Garavin Skyhunter, the Storm Owl," she introduces herself formally. "I was away from Starsong Hill when you were the guests of my tribe, and when I returned and heard that you had embarked to take on what should be our fight, I was shamed that none of my people were brave enough to travel with you. I have come to offer my bow to the cause of ridding these lands of the infestation we have tolerated too long."

"They struck us with a foul alchemist's trick. Poisonous gas. Nightmare Vapor specifically. Had I known the lizardfolk of this swamp were armed with suck tricks, I could have prepared antitoxins."

Shalani attempts to stand up again, although the ordeal has heavily taxed her physically, and she is weak at best.

"In the water, the advantage is theirs," Tahllana replies. "The best way to assault them is to slaughter as many as you can on land before they flee into the mud. If you can make antitoxins," she advises Shalani, "make them. They know they have no chance in a fair fight, so no cowardly tactics are beneath them."


Narses silently helps Shalani to her feet. "None of us were prepered Shalani, and to answer your previous question; Adele would have wanted us to."

"I assume the plan was to make it to the Red Hand forces in the ruins?" she asks. "Would it not be wiser to draw what forces we can out to meet us on our own choice of ground? Eventually we will force our way into their buildings, but let us thin the ranks of their defenders first. I would rather fight their dragon with earth beneath my feet than water."

If there was more to Dragox's question than merely inquiring how she got there physically, she seems to be being deliberately obtuse.

"Ah, yes, we did indeed take the river, I suppose," Dragox says slightly warily. Changing the subject, he continues to explore strategy questions. "Do you think we can try your plan out as early as tomorrow? I am anxious to strike again before they add too many reinforcements."

The elf gives Dragox a tight smile. "It's not a very complicated plan. It only requires death and fire, both of which I'm assuming we can supply among us." She gives an unusual whistle, something like a swamp bird's cry, and a tiny owl flutters out of the undergrowth and takes up a perch on her shoulder.


Moving on...

With Tahllana guiding the party, the Silversong Champions are able to traverse the wide and shallow lake with a minimum of inconvenience. The experienced elven guide points out avenues of approach with mostly solid ground and you are able to avoid the lizardfolk patrols.

You occasionally pass lizardfolk encampments. These slightly crooked huts lean on rickety wooden stilts out over the black waters of the lake. About twenty feet in diameter, the huts have wooden walls and a roof of sticks and branches, all covered over with copious amounts of dark gray, rancid-smelling mud. The hut's floor is about htree feet above the surface of th water, and its single entrance can be reached bya crude ladder made of broken branches lashed together with reeds. Lizardfolk warriors and children mill about, seemingly oblivious to your approach.

Did you want to take out the perimeter patrols or go straight for the middle?

Were we able to rest first? I believe Shalani and Dragox in particular were wanting to renew their spells before attempting to take the offensive again.

Yes, I assumed that you moved forward after a good night's rest. Tahllana's woodcraft skills kept the party safe during the night.


I'd vote for taking out the patrols, hoping for a stealthy approch. Although, if it's possible to go straight for the jusy bits using stealth them I'm up for that too.

Not to mention her secure shelter. :) How many of the party have a way to cross the water safely at this point? Tahllana can learn up to 3 flys, if necessary. She also has jump, Feek.

I've got Air Walk prepped. And it won't hurt Dragox's feelings any, Feek. Dragox is beginning to realize what a task the Chamions have in front of them. Scavenging resources is not a problem for him.


Narses has nothing to cross the water with. He's fine with Feek taking the boots.

Edit; Either Shalani or Tahllana should take Adelle's scroll too. Theres one of fly there.

Give it to Shalani; Tahllana has fly on her spell list. Adele had a couple of other scrolls, too, that someone ought to be able to use: an arcane dispel magic for Shalani and divine scrolls of dispel magic and resist energy for Dragox. There's also a potion of Alertness and a CLW for someone to have. Tahllana will learn at least one fly for Narses, then.

Heh... Feek now has +30 to acrobatics for jumping. 10 feet running start, 40 feet long jump on a take 10. Rinse and repeat- much more fun than moving 50 feet on the ground in the same time xD.


Shalani has an extract of fly prepared.

If the Silversong Champions (We lost our song part :()
rested for at least a day before continuing, Shalani healed by 7 hitpoints, regained her spells and extracts, and should have had enough time to at least start making an antitoxin.

Material cost: 500sp/3=166 sp or 16.6 gp
Remaining alchemical materials: 83.4 gp
Craft Alchemy 1d20 + 18 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 18 + 3 - 2 = 34
Daily Progress: 121 sp progress or 12.1 gp

Since I have Swift Alchemy, I can craft alchemical items in half the normal time. I am going to assume this means I can make two craft alchemy checks in a normal 8 hour workday (or worknight). If this isn't the case, just ignore this second roll.

Craft Alchemy 1d20 + 18 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 18 + 3 - 2 = 21

And after four hours of work, I realize I forgot to turn the burner on. Oops.

Dragox will take the two divine scrolls from Adele, Dispel Magic and Resist Energy, and add them to his sheet. Since we are doing a fast forward here, Dragox will also tell the group to use anything of his they deem necessary if he were to fall.

What's the plan of attack? Tahllana wants to hit the lizardfolk outposts around the edge of the lake first and then try to draw the Red Hand out to find us rather than assault their tower in the middle of the lake again.

With everyone flying only flyers can really oppose ue. Attacking the outskirts gives them time to warn others and counter attack- like last time. Soar overhead and into the heart of the ruins (preferably with cloud cover) would be my preference.


It seems that attacking the outskirts has won the vote. Please feel free to plan your attack while I whip up a lizardfolk outpost.

The flying thing is our ultimate plan. We just hope we can A) take out some of their lizardfolk minions first and/or B)get the Red Hand to sent some of their guys out in boats where they're vulnerable.

Tahllana flexes her bow experimentally as she prepares for the attack, a look of excitement and anticipation on her face. "We hit the outpost quickly and then melt away," she reminds the others. "By the time anyone arrives after the alarm's been sounded, all they'll find will be death and destruction; we'll be on our way to the next target."

Tahllana will travel up front until combat starts, then let Feek and Narses run into melee while she stays back with bow and spells.

EDIT: Ugh, awful first rolls for this character. Hope she's saving them for combat.

Busy day for me today, so I will get a map and a new encounter up this evening.


Taking your time to approach in stealth, you come into view of the lizardfolk outpost. It appears that the structure is not built on solid ground, but support by a framework of lashed poles above the waters of the swamp. Two gangways lead to the large hut, where light from inside is blocked by skins draping the doorways. Several knots of lizardfolk surround cooking fires.

You may be interested to know that the structure is called a crannog.

Tahllana is currently hidden behind some brush, with the rest of the Silversong Champions following a distance behind.

The brush provides concealment, but no cover. You will need new Stealth checks to approach in a sneaky fashion.

"Let me strike them! I will not be caught unawares by their foul devices again!"

Tahllana's head swivels around, her eyes wide and disbelieving as the fire sorceress surges forward. "Is she trying to get us killed?" she demands in a loud whisper, fumbling to get her bow into a ready position.
