If this Grapple succeeds he won't threaten you Zelligar (assuming he doesn't break out); you can freely reposition yourself to get some better cover.

The attack might land due to the prone, here's hoping for a big turnaround.

Zelligar was hoping to draw the archers' fire away from Bran, and it worked. That's why he didn't drop prone after healing Bran.
They got some lucky shots, but he's tougher than he looks and isn't too concerned. Remember, if he does go down, he automatically stabilizes.
What he does next depends on whether or not Bran dropped the dragon with all that damage.

Thanks! Bran doesn't know any better though, he definitely would rather take the arrows instead of you (despite the massive tactical issue with that).

Guess we'll wait and see. They need a hand over there so if we can drop it here and now, he will probably try to kip up as a swift, draw a potion of CMW and quaff it.

With Ozzy dead or unconscious, the turn passes to Iris, Zelligar and Lavinia.

The initiative order for the following rounds looks like this:

Is burning hands damage the same for each target, or should it be rolled separately for each one?


It's always the same damage for all targets for all AoEs, unless there's some rules that say otherwise.

I've always had it done as one damage rolled, but willing to try any other way since that roll sucked.

If you roll well on the first roll, then that roll should apply to everyone. If you roll poorly on the first roll, then you should roll separately for each target.

We've had good breaks and bad breaks in this fight. Just the way it goes.
Maybe Dai and Lavinia made their move a bit too soon and took a lot of damage, but they are in a better position now with Iris there to help.

How Bran feels right now

Nice job guys, lets regroup and finish the job!
Bran will finish Ozzy off if he is just unconscious, he won't allow something like that to stay around and risk recovery from an ally; but he definitely will chug a potion.

Also I'll be at the airport for a chunk of the day so I may be late responding.

Since the hounds are dead, I moved Tal'ariel 60 feet on the map with a move action to the base of the stairs. How hard is it to move up stairs?


You move at half speed. Strictly speaking the stairs are nowhere near long enough, but we're just going to ignore that minor inconsistency.

I don't know how far negative he was, but you did just do an additional 14 damage before Zelligar channeled. Didn't think I'd roll that well, but even so he was probably dead already.
If he was at -1, got knocked down to -15 and survived, and is now at +1, well, you still go before him.
And if he's dead, you've got your potion in hand (and are at 45 HP before drinking it).

Posted. Yesterday was rather busy. I am so looking forward to school starting back up.


It's super cool. I don't neccesarily want to prod, but it's just my experience that when people don't post immediately, at least half the time it's because they don't think that it's their turn to post. That's mostly what happens to me too.

I think Tal'ariel might be into the negatives. That'd be the first real break these guys have managed to catch yet.

Iris has a potion of CMW that you could use.

We could make a break for the tower with Iris taking up a rearguard position so no one could get at you.

We could make a break for the bridge.

You could follow Iris in a mighty leap across the gorge.

Or we can stand and fight.

I think they're archery specialists so creating distance is probably not the best option. I'd stay up in their faces.

Lavinia can use her healing hex on Dai if need be. Iris is clearly the biggest threat but she has great AC and is at full HP so who knows what the enemies will do.

Slumber hex, coup de grace: Lather, rinse, repeat. If Dai can get in the face of the third archer, that would be great.

Lavinia won't be able to Slumber any hobgoblins she already affected, though. Dai as a flanking partner will be a help until Bran can get there.

Yeah, that's why I went ahead and chose to heal Dai (though pitifully). I think I've slept most of them before the sergeant woke them up. Maybe I will eventually pick up accursed hex so I can get a second shot with my hexes.
