I think we are waiting to go into initiative. Every one is ready to enter the fray.
My suggestion would be to start the surprise round with Silas ghost sound spell.

Do you guys want me to DMNPC Jequette so we can get the battle started? I have not heard from Marty in a few days even in email.

Yes please, we all know what she's going to do first :). Beth actions will depend on the results.

Amulets of Natureal Armor stack with regular natural armor, so Tiki works. :)

So I'm really having a rough day today, medically. Hands shaking bad and I'm more than a wee bit disoriented, so this'll probably be it from me, for the night. I'll try to post a bit more tomorrow, despite an early work shift. Thanks for understanding. Please NPC me until I can check in again tomorrow. Obi will try disarming methods initially, or non-lethal options (like knocking them over Hydraulic Push, etc).

brvheart |

Get some rest and hope you feel better soon! I will only NPC you if necessary. My wife uses hydraulic push so we will finagle it out!

Beth Macara |

@Morgan, Beth is not going to get creamed next round, I do not intend to stay here but to board the barge from the docks in between S1 and S2 :)
That will be fun...
Belay that, the bloody ranseur wielding enforcer 1 can AoO me if I do that. So I will just have to settle with something else...

brvheart |

Sorry for the mess last night folks. It was late, but I don't have a problem fixing my own mistakes!

--Sandman-- |

was very busy today. I'll get a post in tomorrow morning.

--Sandman-- |

What do you define as carrying? How about if I say "I pick up the barge"? Tipping it up on end definitely seems like it's within the limits of the item. You'd have to tip something first to be able to lift it. If I can't do that, then how would it help me lift it at all?
CMB check dc 14: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

brvheart |

These thick leather cords wrap around the wearer’s biceps and shoulders. When worn, they make the wearer’s muscles appear larger than normal. The wearer treats his Strength score as 8 higher than normal when determining his carrying capacity. This bonus does not apply to combat, breaking items, or any other Strength-related rolls, it only contributes to the amount of equipment or material the wearer can carry.
You can add the size adjustment and rage to your CMB but not the mule back cords. Still it will take another action to lift, stop, or tip the barge or whatever you intend to do. Or another CMB to stop in from moving effectively "pinning it"
The biggest issue is they don't define barge other than it is an oversized raft. They are of too many varied sizes to do that. I am presuming this one is a small one so it should not be too difficult for you at large size to affect it. If it were a raft it would be easy to tip over, but a barge is not.

--Sandman-- |

I'm afraid I'm really not seeing the distiction between lift and carry. It says it doesn't help with combat rolls, but it seems like you're ruling that it doesn't function while in combat. I'm not looking for a bonus on a grapple check. I'm looking to use it to lift something that people are standing on. The distinction is subtle, but in this case very important. I'm not grappling the barge. It isn't actively resisting me. I'm just picking it up.
I'm also not really seeing how this is a combat maneuver on my part. Picking up an object usually doesnt require a roll. It just provokes. I'll happily take the AoO and the danage, but the idea that i have to pin the barge to lift it doesnt seem right. Once I put my hands on it, either I can lift it or I can't.
I'll go with your ruling because you are the GM, but I would like to discuss it further here in the discussion thread.

I've been trying to do some research per rules and elsewhere on a barge. Per rules they are an over sized raft, but unlike a raft a barge is extremely thick so that it can haul cargo. I even checked the players guide for Skulls & Shackles that expands upon the rules. I cannot find any means to determine an actual weight, but it appears to be in tons (I am guessing 3-5) making the point moot. Regardless, the highlighted section to me is clear, that it only contributes to what you can carry and not lift. This was the point of the combat maneuver which would allow you to at least stop the barge from moving. Your strength being superior to the rogues attempting to push it along with poles. Still to even attempt to lift it you would have to grapple it first.

--Sandman-- |

That would only be true if the barge was a Construct or something. You don't grapple inanimate objects.
Also, with the cords, my carrying capacity *is* measured in tons. The barge is in water. There's a lot less resistance.
My push/pull/drag weight is 11,400 pounds. My lift of ground weight is about 2.5 tons. I'm not even trying to pick it up. I'm just trying to tip it over.
Based on my understanding of the rules, there is no reason this shouldn't work. There's also no reason I should have to spend two rounds incurring attacks of opportunity to Grapple an inanimate object just to find out that the magic item that boosts my carrying capacity don't work.
This situation is extremely frustrating. It's hard to hear that you can't do something that you thought you could do, after having taken damage for it.

brvheart |

While I understand it is frustrating a ship is not considered an object in pathfinder but "can be just as much a character as those who crew it"
"When the crew of one ship wishes to board an enemy ship and attack its crew, they must first grapple the other ship." If you check the advanced naval rules, yes you must grapple the ship before you can attempt to do what you are doing as it is considered a character and has a CMB and CMD for this purpose so it does take the additional action. I still maintain that you cannot use the Mule Back Cords for this purpose for the highlighted reason. As low as their CMD is, the result is going to be about the same and there should not be an additional AOO. It will just take a round longer.

--Sandman-- |

Alright.

brvheart |

I might suggest players download the Players Guide to Skulls & Shackles for the Advanced Naval Rules and if you think that is fun try Fire As She Bears where it gets really complicated!

brvheart |

Well my rolls were about average. Problem was the low rolls were for the attacks for the dragoons and the higher rolls were for the enemy Will saves.

Silas Frey |

The problem I see with the dice roller is there does not seem to be a spread during bulk rolls. So almost all the attacks by dragoons missed and all the will saves were made. That's why I have concerns about the dice roller.

Beth Macara |

I don't think you can code a skewed dice roller without doing it on purpose, normally the "random" functions used are quite good.
Besides, you cannot draw conclusions from just a small sample as that from a statistical point of view :) But every one of us do it. Statistics and probabilities are on of the most unintuitive part of science that I know and while they look deceptively easy to understand, says the guy who is using them day in and day out.

brvheart |

Unfortunately, there isn't a lot we can do about the dice roller. And considering I haven't taken a Stix class in nearly 40 years I would defer to Beth on this one!
Yes, we are waiting on Obi. Jequette has already emailed me her intended actions for the next round. I will then post another map.

brvheart |

Obi you might consider actually attacking them, had you attacked either time you would have killed E2.

brvheart |

Yeah, I can see it with low levels and non-combat types, but a 6th level fighter with a ransuer? Not so much!

Morgan "Hoeroa" Randall |

@Obi: Technically, once he's dead/down he's kinda disarmed...
But I admire the consistency and attention to character motives over DPR and "winning". Exactly how I play. Extra xp in my book! ;)

brvheart |

Sorry the XP for the Barnacle was 266. The only one you actually defeated was Garreg. The rest was a push. If they had ran I would have given 1/2 XP for the Dragoons and Barrett, but it was more of a standoff.

brvheart |

You might want to consider resting first as your casters are either low or out of spells.

brvheart |

So, is anyone going to question the smugglers before they are hauled off?

brvheart |

If I made the files pdf's would that be better or worse as far as people being able to see them?

--Sandman-- |

I'm going to be Obnoxiously busy the next two days. Please Bot me as neccessary.

Morgan "Hoeroa" Randall |

PDF's might be better - I think Dropbox can handle those on my iPhone.
I've seen another PbP where the GM has inserted a link to a googledraw page that everyone has access to - the link is put up in the gameplay title section. Again, not sure how that interacts with iDevices. But if I'm in the minority, keep things as they are...
Anyway...Very sorry for the technical dropout guys.
And well done folks! Nice work on the drug-drop mop-up.
@Obi and Beth, don't forget you guys each have +100 xp on Silas' total figure.

brvheart |

I can try a pdf next time. I cannot use Dropbox due to my ISP. They hit me with "file sharing" when I have it enabled. Not sure how to enable Google Draw for everyone.
