Thanks for the reminder! Reroll on the 1 1d6
My campaigns tend to be a little deadlier than the run of the mill so I don't want people with 1's on hit point rolls. That being said, there have been no deaths in this group as of yet, but this is mostly due to the group using more non-combat means of dealing with things whenever possible. They have been doing very well at earning a great deal of role playing rewards.

They are closing on level six, so they are a little ahead, yes but treasure wise they have not picked up all that much. I am going to put the two of you at the half way point in between 5th and 6th so you are not quite as far behind.

Wexley |

Hmm... I don't much like playing behind, but I guess it is what it is. And I suppose we're all behind on treasure.

--Sandman-- |

Lialoha, how about if our characters are old friends, perhaps trained by the same shaman, or part of the same group of tribal mystics? We can leave it ambiguous and treat it like a couple of guys who went to school together talking about old fraternity stories, except the fraternity is a bunch of tribal ritualists with a penchant for body modification and psychotropic drugs.
Sandman gets along with just about everybody, so even someone as cranky as you might like him.
Wexley, yeah, we're all a bit light on the treasure side, but that's ok. It makes the game feel more gritty.

brvheart |

It's only about 3000 XP and my games are usually light on treasure to start. Never ends that way though! In my Slumbering Tsar game they are now getting +3-+5 items at levels 10-11 in the treasure.

Jarveiyan is an old friend of mine that has been playing with us off and on for about 12 years now

Obadiah Read |

Well, good news! It's NOT a heart attack. They sent me home, but told me to go right to my general practitioner. They did a breathing test and APPARENTLY my airways are restricted (I was wheezing), so they did a breathing test.
...And I failed it horribly. Good news is they gave me a breathing treatment in the office and tested again. Still failed, but my lung function was double what it had been before.
So I'm on an inhaler for two weeks, at which point I go back to the doctor, and they do another breathing test to see. They also told me I'm off work until Sunday, and that I'm required to take it easy at work, for the next two weeks.
So that's a plus. But yep, so I'm alive!

Take care of yourself Obi. Would kinda miss not having you around now:)

--Sandman-- |

Yikes! Any idea what's causing it?

brvheart |

Could be asthma. My wife has it and I have a condition that resembles it. Hopefully nothing more serious.

Natalie Desmee |

Alright guys, character done. Natalie is a ex-pirate, how would you like me to bring the character in? I could have her come in at the docks from having requipped and needing to find another crew to sign up with. Or have her already be in the tavern(or whatever sub ins for one). Honestly I'm open to any suggestions.

brvheart |

Just got back from my own breathing test. Failed it also. Best I could do is 50% of normal after a breathing treatment.

Silas Frey |

We do probably want to figure meeting Natalie - not sure we're frequenting many taverns at the moment and we probably won't until after the cove.
We also need to figure some tactics as we will probably need to be more effective against the cove enemies.

brvheart |

You could probably use her for the cove though. You could run into her on the way back from Thumbs Reach.

Leialoha |

Caster level requirement is actually not 17th. It's a confusing part of the rules, but CL for an item is not the requirement to create it.
Lesser selective rod requires
Craft Rod (Caster Level 9th)
Selective Spell (Caster Level 10th since you need 10 ranks of Spellcraft)
1500 gp
So, too high for Leialoha to make himself, but not quite as out of whack for the region.
That said, I totally screwed up and not only have the lesser metamagic rod in excess of 25% at 28.6% :) but also have a headband which is in clear violation at 38%. I totally apologize. No excuse other than poor reading comprehension on my part. I'm going to have to put my thinking cap on to come up with a different way to spend those gp for a caster. Maybe a bunch of scrolls and wands although I was already stretching it with those first two wands.
Sounds like you're ok with the stretch on the rod, but I'll come up with an alternative for the headband. DC didn't matter on that save, but I'll clear up future ones.

brvheart |

Ring of Protection +1 or Nat armor would be good and help his AC. Just suggestions.

Yes that was my point. That's why I was trying to illicit alternative ways of getting her in. If we had just been a little cagier she could have been another on the trail of Grymmer.

Another possibility is that she can be a friend/contact of Falken Drango as we still have to meet him. Or someone from his crew who escaped the slaughter.

We had a long chat last night on Yahoo Messenger (Yeah, we are that ancient<G>) and that was what we decided on.

brvheart |

Actually it has been closer to 14 as you were the one that suggested the Scarred Lands for a campaign back in 2000, but I was more referring to the method of communication:)

brvheart |

I bought Kara a new Skype TV cam and a new Web Cam for christmas but it gets almost no use. We don't Skype much either.

brvheart |

FYI, please note that per a discussion of my rules committee, I am going back to RAW on surprise attacks for rogues.

brvheart |

Sorry I have been waiting for the group to get to the meeting place.

--Sandman-- |

Waiting on us to get to the meeting place?
Isn't that sort of narrative scene-changing up to you? Usually we say something like "we're headed to this place" and then the GM says "here's what happens when you get there." or "you're interrupted along the way!"
I don/t mind if you want us to frame the scene, but that's usually not something left up to the players.

--Sandman-- |

Ah! That makes more sense. :)

brvheart |

Yes, you should be and that means Natalie also if she is still with us.

Silas Frey |

I certainly had posted that we had split up with the two new players going with Sandman. No one gave a good reason why we would trust, primarily a self proclaimed Inquisitor, to come along to meet someone we rescued from the 'law'.

Wexley |

I have no knowledge of the man myself. Just that you are meeting him.
But I'd be fine hanging back. That's the impression I got from Silas.
