GM thunderspirit |
Welcome to my Play-by-Post!
I'm Thunderspirit, and I've been running games since the early 1980s. (Yes, I'm old, and yes, I've seen a lot of editions.) I started playing PFS back in Season 0, but didn't really "get into it" until the end of Season 3. I'm a Venture-Lieutenant in Chicago. If you're ever in the area, or you need help finding games/conventions there, PM or email me, and I'll endeavor to set something up if I can. :-)
Expectations for my play-by-post games:
----------------------------------------------
1) Real Life Comes First [tm]. This is a game, after all.
2) Try to post at least once daily. (If you're going to be gone for 24+ hours, try to give a heads up before you go. But that said: remember #1.)
3) Saving throws first. If you have a saving throw to make, have it be the first dice of the post, before you roll anything else. Also,
you can always preemptively roll Perception, Disable Device, etc. — this makes the game run more efficiently. I ask only that you make sure pogs are placed in their actual position in case your choices have, shall we say, consequences...
4) Animal companions, eidolons, phantoms, etc. For play-by-post, I have them go on the same initiative as their PC. (This is slightly different than what I do in face-to-face games.) When you post, play your PC first, then the pet.
5) Know your obscure rules. Most people know how the basics work, but if you have a character who uses something less than common, please know how it works (Handle Animal, Sunder, Grapple, etc.).
Please post in this thread with this format.
Player Name:
PC Name:
PFS#:
Faction:
Day Job: Feel free to roll now.
Notes: Anything I should know; passive abilities, boons that are way out there, etc. If you have abilities that are immediate actions that interrupt an enemy, I'll be as fair as possible, but you can help me out by telling me under what conditions you typically use it.
I do ask that the header for your PC have saves, initiative, and Perception modifier in them. (If you're not sure how, just ask and we'll lend a hand.)
That about covers it. Looking forward to the game!
Shonne |
Alright, I'm calling it high tier. I can go low if that will accommodate more folks though.
Shonne is a Red Box edition elf, back from the days when all elves were eldritch knights. Shonne's Kyonin accent sounds like Fran and the Viera people from Final Fantasy 12. She looks like the 'Female Elf' link in her tag line right down to the spear, though the ears and irises should be bigger, like proper Golarion elves.
Player Great Green God
Character Shonne
PFS # 139009-1
Faction Silver Crusade
Day Job N/A
Notes Oddly, I was just in the middle of retraining her from a forest-focused ranger (warden) to a regular ranger because in 7 levels playing of her, I had yet to encounter a single 5' x 5' square of forest terrain (caves, towns, even a jungle but not a bit of forest). In the scenario's blurb it hints that there may be some forest terrain involved. Is there any truth to that rumor?

Without giving away too much information, I can confirm the following:
The Sanos Abduction takes place in the Sanos Forest in the heart of Varisia. The wood is well known as the center of the gnome population in Varisia, and also supports a substantial population of fey creatures. The diversionary and mischievous magic of the fey makes exploring the forest a difficult endeavor, and the gnomes are tightlipped regarding what goes on in the deep woods. This lack of information leads to rampant speculation about the potential rewards for any adventuring parties able to navigate the notoriously perplexing woods.

Player tears out and eats own hair.
Dunia Mbani |
Checking in since Cosmic Captive is winding down.
Dunia is nominally an Oread, though she thinks of herself as a historian, an archaeologist, a shaman, a warrior-exorcist, and a Mulaa well before she dwells on where the touch of Earth in her blood came from.
Player: Cwethan
Character: Dunia Mbani
PFS #: 182453-2
Faction: Scarab Sages
Day Job: NA
Notes: Dunia is more like a bad-touch Magus than a Spiritualist. She likes to fight from reach, especially since she has Combat Reflexes and ignores her allies for the purposes of soft cover.
Jorah |
Saw this was up and just wanted to check in quickly. Will do a proper post when I have more time. This character needs some major profile updating as well.
GM thunderspirit |
You'll want an effective one (i.e., no Harsk pregen, please), but otherwise I have no issue with pregens, even in this scenario.

I don't know... a six player scenario... I say all Harsks. We'll call it Harsk Mode.
Man, that's Harsk.
Or maybe Shonne could lead them all, being Harsk on her ranger's side. Shonne the sort of tall, beautiful, elf leader that all the other Harsks can look up to, and see amid the low forest shrubbery. Shonne who alone can tell what the weather is like 'up there'.
It'll be great. She'll be like a Queen Harsk.
GM thunderspirit |
Harsk mode: PFS' original hard mode for any scenario.
Shonne |
"Alright, now I need some diplomacy checks...."
Ragnar Northman |
Player Name: Beatrice Pscheidl
PC Name: Ragnar Northman
PFS#: 123480-4
Faction: Dark Archive
Day Job: Leather Crafting: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Notes: Ragnar is a Shapeshifter. He can switch to a bear-form once a day for 8 rounds. With him comes his pet, a leopard. He's good at calming down wild animals or avoiding becoming lost in the woods. He's especially hard to kill though (Heart of the Wilderness).
I need to update Ragnar's sheet to level 7, will do it as soon as possible.
GM thunderspirit |
Solidly high tier.
Shonne, Ranger 2/Transmuter 5
Dunia, Spirtualist 6
Jorah, Oracle 7
Ragnar, Ranger 7
Tundran, pregen 7
pregen Crowe |
I will bring the bloodrager pregen, Crowe. I had this alias from before and I will get it updated before we start.
Player Name: Tundran
PC Name: Crowe
PFS#: 161871-13
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Day Job: none
Dunia Mbani |
I forgot that Dunia recently acquired the Elemental Voyager boon, so she'll go ahead and work on that in lieu of her non-existent day job.
Knowledge (Planes) take-10: 10 + 10 = 20 beats the DC 15
Jorah |
Whoops, realized I never posted all his info.
Player Name: GM Turmoil
PC Name: Jorah
PFS#: 62803-2
Faction: Silver Crusade
Day Job: Diplomacy (caravan vanity): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38
Notes: Jorah has the Awesome Display revelation which makes Color Spray still very relevant and useful. I always post the details of how it works whenever it comes up. During combat he can only speak and understand Celestial and Auran due to his tongues curse. Has never been too much of an issue, especially because his familiar can interpret if needed.
Jorah's Familiar |
And Jorah is joined by his lyrakien azata familiar, Stardust. She has constant detect evil, detect magic, freedom of movement, and truespeech.
Shonne |
And Jorah is joined by his lyrakien azata familiar, Stardust. She has constant detect evil, detect magic, freedom of movement, and truespeech.
As a side note for those who might not know, Stardust has to actually concentrate, and be facing a direction to use either of those first two (they still work like the original spells).
And constant just means Dusty can activate those spell-like abilities at will (and reactivate them as a swift action if they are somehow disrupted) as many times a day as she'd like.
Still, very handy.
GM thunderspirit |
Hey, all, just a heads up: I will be at Skål Con in Minnesota starting tomorrow through Monday of next week. I'll pick up the reins of the game after I get back.
Jorah |
Forgot to post this on all my games. I'm out of town for a few days for a big interview. Don't really have much time to post so bot me as needed.

GM thunderspirit |
If Jorah can't post today (Real Life Comes First [tm]), I would ask someone to bot him.
Dunia Mbani |
You've actually got a fair amount of time on Dunia, thanks to her work with the Scarab Sages I have an extra 7 rounds before bleeding out.
GM thunderspirit |
Good to know.
Even when the dice say otherwise, I really don't enjoy killing PCs.
GM thunderspirit |
Primary success condition: The PCs defeat Marigana and safely return Dijjit to Ignizi's cottage.
Secondary success condition: The PCs ensure that Riddywipple survives until the end of the scenario.
So that's two prestige for each chronicle.
Thanks for playing everyone! Hope you had a good time.
