Thomas Hasoshi |
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Thomas moves slightly forward and takes another shot.
Arrow!, inspire: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18Sting, inspire: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Balinor the Valiant |
I think they've already killed the last one, but I'll attack just in case
Greatsword: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (4, 2) + 8 = 14
and the will save
Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 3
GMG |
And that is a dead owl!
You check the body on the table and to your dismay find out this is the body of the Master of Spells, Aram Zey himself! A detect magic spell finds out that he is covered in a necromantic aura.
The portal in the Hoa Jin tapestry is clearly open, but with no way to close it you decide to move on to another area.
Library or Sky Key room?
You check the owls and find 4 potions that are quickly identified to be potions of cure light wounds
I won't bother with their mundane equipment
Congrats! That is another success for you!
Girzog |
"I could use one of those potions, I'm not in a good way at the moment. Unless one of you has healing magic of course, in which case I ask that I take one of those potions with me in case things get... hairy, later on."
I vote Sky Key room.
GMG |
You can take 5 out of combat for cure light wounds = (8+1)/2 rounded down. Note that this is not an official rule
Girzog |
I'll gladly take a d8+2 (you are level 2, no?) Kryas. Unless this scenario somehow has no more combat, I'm guessing Balinor and I should probably take one of the four potions each. Unfortunately this was a quick rebuild character and I forgot to throw 2PP into a CLW Wand or I'd offer it for everyone.
Balinor the Valiant |
Balinor drinks one of the potions as the equipment found in-adventure only lasts for this adventure anyway.
Balinor takes up a defensive stance as his companions decide where they should head next.
Kryas Azrin |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Kryas's hands glow briefly as his wounds and flesh knit back together.
That's a better, haven't gotten hurt like that in a few years,
Kryas makes his way over to his tengu companion, Try not to move, this could sting a bit Hand glowing briefly again, your wounds disappear. Kryas can be heard muttering a small prayer under his breathe as he uses his healing magic. 5 hp back
Flesh to flesh and bone to bone.
Sinew to sinew and vein to vein,
And each one shall be whole again.
Thomas Hasoshi |
You sure you're not with the wrong mystery?
Thomas takes a brief look at the dead owl men, before turning around.
"I have no preference for our destination."
GMG |
Two for Sky Key, one for Library: Sky Key it is!
This tall library is ringed by a walkway around its perimeter, which provides access to a second level of towering bookshelves. A broad Qadiran rug leads to a short pedestal within a tall glass case that itself sits within an inscribed circle—all cordoned off by a velvet rope suspended by brass poles. Several plush chairs and a few low tables bearing curios line the lower floor, and two decorative suits of armor stand at attention, each with a crossbow resting against its shoulder. Heatless torches blaze with remarkably even light in sconces throughout the room, and a tall pendulum clock against the eastern wall ticks each passing second as its hands move erratically. You enter the room and at first nothing seems amiss.
Please place your icons in the room
Girzog |
Holy crap. I don't know which unwarranted gamer paranoia is striking harder for me right now. That I'm about to get attacked by a magic carpet, or shot in the face by two animated statues lol.
Girzog steps in just far enough to allow his allies to either spread out, or pillar behind the front line. He scans the area for anything out of place -- empty rooms like this in an attack can't be good.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Inspector Pendergast |
At a minimum that Perception should make it painfully obvious that this isn't a library but the Sky Key Room lol
Bwah?
"This tall library is ringed by a walkway around its perimeter, which provides access to a second level of towering bookshelves."
It's my Perception check that told me it was a Library =P

Balinor: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Red: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Yellow: 1d20 ⇒ 20
While Thomas, Balinor and Kryas are contemplating what to do in the hallway the others walk inside, the Inspector at the front.
A ghostly image of a Pathfinder appears in the center of the room, where his likeness eerily begins to slide through the display case. His voice echoes as he speaks to an unseen party. “Oh no, they’ve stolen the Sky Key. It also appears they disrupted the auxiliary stabilizer, too.”
He pauses before continuing. “Do you feel that? I feel kind of sick all of a sudden. I hope they didn’t try to disassemble it—or worse, bring it too close to the tapestry. Wasn’t that why Zey kept them so far—” The figure’s words go unfinished as he begins to scream and dissolve, fading from view in a matter of seconds.
Just seconds later four slimy, shifting masses that have the shape of a humanoid appear. They are made out of what appears to be some form of sticky rope or cloth. Knowledge (Religion) to identify

"It's--not good!" Rilia takes a moment to recover "Nonetheless, we shall persevere!"
Inspire Courage +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
Fortitude save: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Thomas Hasoshi |
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Deliberating with Balinor and Kryas...then something else goes on.
"Wait, did you hear something?"
As he looks inside, he sees the 'things'.
"Ropes that look like people?
Whatever they are, let's put an arrow in them."
Shot vs FF blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13Sting, SA: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + (2) = 7
GMG |
Duration Rilia: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Rilia starts her inspirating song but feels bile rising from her stomach. It takes considerable effort to keep it down...
Thomas does not feel anything and lands an arrow in one of the creatures. It seems that the open area's between the 'rope' reduce the damage it takes from the arrow.
Yellow Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Slam: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
The creature next to the Inspector slams the half elf in the face, which is a rather unpleasant experience to say the least DC11 Will save or be shaken for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds.
Blue Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Sickened: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Charging Sickened Slam: 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 - 2 = 5
Damage: 1d4 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 2 = 5
The other one glides through the rope that cordons of the area and attacks Girzog. Fortunately for the tengu it misses.

Balinor moves 20ft into the room and attacks the (blue) slimy rope humanoid.

Duration Sickened Inspector: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Duration Sickened Balinor: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Girzog easily dispatches his opponent, leaving Balinor without one. The human changes plan and charges the enemy near the Inspector.
When he closes in on the creature he feels not very well. This distracts him almost enough to miss his opponent but his added momentum saves the day and makes sure that enemy also is now a weird pile of silvery 'clothes'
Changed your action to charge yellow
The Inspector calls upon his vast knowledge and remembers that these are Ectoplasmic humans, drawn from energies of the Ethereal Plane, ectoplasm is a vile substance resembling thick tangles of slimy linen or dripping goo. It shapes itself into the form of an undead creature, creating a host for a soul unfortunate enough to be confined within it. The existence of an ectoplasmic being is a cruel one, and few souls willingly choose this painful form of undeath.

Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
The northern undead charges Balinor and with a mighty lefthand hurts the pathfinder.
DC11 Will save or be shaken for 1d4 ⇒ 4rounds
Green Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Sickened: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Charging Sickened Slam: 1d20 + 3 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 2 + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The southern undead also charges his nearest target, which is the Inspector and just manages to hit the half-elf.
DC11 Will save or be shaken for 1d4 ⇒ 3rounds
You all notice the silvery slime that covers the ground over which these undead have flown, it looks gross.

Last round of inspiration. Inspire Courage: +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
Draws rapier. Draws closer.
Balinor the Valiant |
target is red if he's still up or green as second option
Balinor, despite the feelings of illness setting in, is determined to protect his allies and takes a swing at the ectoplasmic being.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13
Thomas Hasoshi |
Please tell me if this can work, if not, i'll merely walk and take a potshot.
If a positive:
Thomas drops his bow, making a run and drawing his gladius, he makes an attempt at a leap to jump over Kryas and the undead.
Acrobatics, long jump: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Standing behind it, his eyes twinkle and e slashes at the undead with his gladius.
