Succinct character assessment: Balinor is the epitome of the noble hero: ready to put his life on the line to protect his comrades at a moment's notice. If he were religiously motivated, he would have made a fine paladin.
Backstory: Balinor was the eldest born child to a family with a long lineage of sorcery. Sadly, he seemed to lack the powers of a sorcerer. His younger siblings (a brother named Japhrim and the youngest was a sister named Fialla) however were quite adept at sorcery. Their father, seeing the slump of his eldest son's shoulders, addressed the sadness of his son by pointing out that he had gifts his siblings lacked. Balinor, it was pointed out, had skills with weapons and an inherent strength that his siblings lacked. He was ideally placed to be their protector. It was at this same moment that an ancestral weapon, a greatsword, was gifted to Balinor. In that moment, Balinor felt some strange connection to the weapon itself.
With this gift and bit of a directive from his father, Balinor became the great protector. The ways of young sorcerers and sorceresses often lead to exploring and traveling to gain more knowledge. Balinor was there every step of the way. Balinor accompanied and protected his siblings and began to see bits and pieces of his own inherent magic come through as he wielded the ancestral blade. Not sorcery, certainly, but something.
Eventually, his siblings found their places at the Arcanarium and Balinor was left as a protector with no one to protect.
Again, his father stepped in. The family had some connections with the Pathfinder Society and a field commission was easily enough arranged. After all, what more could a group of Pathfinders use than someone to watch their backs?
