The scenario was fun, and the GM did very good job running the game! I'm unsure whether the scenario features any pictures of the manor and such, because I would have liked some visual imagery. The manor map was a little weird, being tilted and all, and had me confused for a moment. After the encounter with Tilly you could've just open up the entire upstairs, the secret closet excluded. While it held some suspense, I constantly hoped not to find any monsters lay about upstairs somehow oblivious of your advancement.

So... I seem to recall that Midnight Mirror was to get us up to level 5 so that we could play more PbP with Deussu (who had played the lower-tier season 5s). If that's no longer going to be the case (ie. he's breaking away for a while, As our GM noted here)... why not just continue through season 5 and keep the rest of the "band" together? I know you've prepped it (so I'd like to play it eventually) but for now (if you're willing to shelve it, John) I think it would be awesome if we played some more season 5.

John, would you like me to get Chumley and Diri onto the scenario planner (for season 5 at least) so that we can get in some scenarios now, or would you prefer to just recruit someone else for Midnight Mirror?

Out of respect for your prep work, I will happily play Midnight Mirror either way (potentially simultaneously with the season 5 scenarios if you want to GM two games) - despite wanting to reduce my PbP load (so just as a once-off extra game). Arturo is in level range (and won't be returning to the Slayers). I'd also be happy to play pregens. I was also thinking about starting up a core character, so pregen credit to get him/her to level 2 would be great... if everyone else was willing to play it core.

Thanks Targath for the feedback. We had just finished a long rung of Haunting of Hinojai and it was long. Lost of specialization in that one and they all played with Pregens. Ugh! But fun.

So I tried to keep the suspense up with moving things along quickly. The author also bookended all the action - 2 in the front, 2 in the end. I needed to keep the middle relevant. Hence Tilly had to pee. I have my daughter to thank for that. There is not a store bathroom that she hasn't gone in. Always at the worst time. I too disliked the map and there were no other visuals. Pooka recently pulled in some outside images for visuals in the game he is running. Food for thought.

Xull I am not married to any idea or game. I'd rather have the discussion here than clutter up the scenario planner if it is all the same. I am up for anything, just no CORE :). We can shelve the mod for the time being, I am loving season 5. Mostly Scars. That was the best. :)

I might be interested in Midnight Mirror after all, but I'm currently stuck in so many PbPs it's horrifying. I intend to decrease the amount (finish 5 or so) before starting new ones.

And another point: I didn't like to play Targath over PbP. At the same time I didn't want to break the character and start acting all nice and cooperative, but at the same time I disliked how rude and abrasive I felt I should act out. The matter was made worse with Tilly. Since most of the players here apparently have children of their own (myself included), I was overly cautious about how Targath would react and act. That said, in case I would join another PbP, I would not consider unleashing Targath another time. In a real life situation I don't get to detail Targath's words and manners so exactly, which makes them more of a caricature instead of an outright a&!#&~&.

Oh, and I need at least one character of mine available for the upcoming event. :)

Sounds like we should just level up to 5 playing season 5, and give Stefan a chance to divest himself of some other PbPs, and then reunite afterwards... and/or play Midnight Mirror then. Would that work for you, Stefan? Everyone else?

As for the scenario planner, I hear you about the clutter. I'll put in another sheet for the Beasts and season 5 specifically. That way, we keep it clean and you, me and Steve don't need to re-enter things. It really is the best way to organize a "what's next".

I'm still not sure what AJ is doing on the planner.

Okay... so there's now a "Beasts Season 5" tab. John, Steve and my played games come straight from the original Season 5 sheet (so we just need to modify the one sheet and it will carry over to the Beasts sheet).

Jeff and Michael, please just go to our scenario planner and navigate to the "Beasts Season 5" tab and enter the games you've played.

For cleaning up the scenario planner, I've removed the "Stefan" column and the "Beasts Column" from all sheets (Stefan had only entered for season 5 anyway, which I've moved to the new beasts sheet, and greyed it out).

As for what we play next, Module or scenarios are all fine for me. Pooka is now 5.1 with this under his belt, so its more about getting everyone else up to 5.

I sorted the tier column in the beasts season 5 tab so we can see things in ascending order of tier. I'm a visual person, helps me see better how we go down the list as we level.

Didn't we talk about doing the Destiny of the Sands trilogy? I seem to remember conversation, but don't remember what we decided. If we skip the module, now might be the perfect time to do that. The 3-parter will actually make it feel like a module anyways. If we do that, parts 1 and 2 will take Pooka to 6.0. I could always slow track if necessary also.

Heh. It's wanting to play with old hat players like you that has caused me to rethink my stance and perhaps play a bit of Core... still have too much on right now, but I'm mulling it over.

So I've played around with some character concepts and classes I had previously not considered.

I'm kinda digging the druid a bit, and could potentially be convinced to start a core character for the expressed purpose of re-opening the list of scenarios.

In general, Core doesn't excite me. Far to many limitations for material I have come to love. (and spend big bucks on) But I love a good story too, and would be willing to sacrifice some of that material for a chance to have some fun with some stories.

@ All Going forward - you are all officially invited to anything I run. You are all top notch players and I appreciate you taking time away to game with me. Targath I didn't mean to exclude you, but I misinterpreted you saying cutting back to concentration on your own mod (that I really want to play in. We have lots of ideas floating around. Core doesn't interest me at all, and I haven't played enough to make me consider it. Then I am messing with a CORE GM blob.

As for next up, we have time as nothing would start until November 30th at the earliest. Destiny didn't 'grab me' and if we were to play a three-parter my druthers would be to run Midnight mirror. But if it keeps the group (most) together - I am easily swayed.

So can you rank your preferences - 1 being I want the most and so forth. You can choose anything from season 5 or mods, or really anything. I'd like to keep it to season 5, but we are running out of available options.

As GM, my job is to run and fun and engaging stories. If the group wants to play something that didn't particularly grab me, I would be a sucky GM to take my toys home and pout. This is a shared investment and I want to respect your desires as much as much as you are showing me respect. Equals in deciding scenarios is how it should be.

When I have more time I will fill you all in on some behind the curtain things. I really like that part to show players the other side.

I could put my hat in the GM ring (pay it forward, my first GM insisted). I don't think I'm quite ready for the time commitment until after the semester ends, but 5-06 You Have What You Hold is one of my favorites to run. Looks like no one has any experience with that, so I'd be willing to take the group through it, come late December, early January (as long as you don't mind a brand-new PbP GM).

Chumley was a lot of fun to play (and hopefully play with!) I did have an Osirion / SS character I'd earmarked to do Destiny of Sands, but I'd need to make sure that I didn't canabalize the GM credits for something else. I'll have to check tonight / this weekend.

Sounds like we should probably run Destiny of the Sands next, despite John's objections. It's the one that encompasses the most of us and it is (after all) in Season 5 (our stated intent). I can be convinced to play anything with this group, though... so if you'd rather run the Midnight Mirror module, John, I'm in. We can always run destiny next if we like.

Chumley, any chance you could get your Season 5 games played up here? If it's a short list I'd be happy to add it for you.

Thanks for the offer. I, for one, would be happy to play that game - only provided John wanted to give up his expert hold on the reins for a scenario. I guess we'll let you know come the end of the year!

Well that is an interesting development. I currently have a level 3 Oracle/paladin GM blob running through his first adventure. He will ding level 4 as soon as his current scenario is done. (We started on the PBP 4 kick off Sept 19, and it is still going whereas my normal group has completed 2 in that time frame.)

I could hand over the reigns, as I said gaming with cool people is most important. I am at 8 scenarios Gm'd and in chase of the elusive GM star. If you want to take over that is something to consider, I would just run some stuff on the side to get 2 more in. We could do Have what you hold then the Sands trio. Like I said - it is a shared experience.

It seems my time in the GM chair is nearing an end for our group of jolly adventures. I am always available to sub in should the need arise. :)

Just to make things confusing, if we did Midnight Mirror first, Pooka would be leveled out of the first two installements of destiny of the sands. (they are both 1-5)

It doesn't really matter to me either, I don't have a reason to play those with Pooka specifically anyways.

I think Jeff was saying he'd run more like early Jan. So we could totally fit in 3 scenarios or a module before then... and the offer was just for one scenario. I don't think you'll be giving up your chair just yet, John (and please don't!).

Destiny of the Sands next? That way Pooka stays in range and if it starts to run overtime or someone needs an extra bump to get to level 5 for the last part, we can play a scenario or two in between.

You guys have a pretty solid pace- -and I wouldn't mind a bit more experience from this side of the screen- -it's just an option for sometime in the future (doesn't have to be directly-next-in-line).

By all means, get that first star! (Then make your local VC buy you lunch. That's the Omaha agreement, at least).

I have played "Have what you hold" but I have my First Steps PbP I started GMing (hopefully) finishing shortly, which would put me a table or two away from another star reroll to use. Likely I'll hit my 4th star right at Thanksgiving.

So I'd be good with playing just about anything.

For Pooka, it is the destiny trilogy or midnight mirror, based on the teirs of both. I could always use a different character for one of those if we decide to do both.

I am going to put a vote out there just to hopefully help us make a decision. (with the caveat that I won't be upset if we go the other direction... So don't worry about hurting my feelings.)

Destiny sands trilogy keeps this current group together (and gives "Bob" 3 more scenarios), so I will vote for that one.

We could still do midnight mirror afterwards, but I will have to use an alternate character since Pooka would be leveled beyond the teir for that module. (or a pre-gen... shudder)

After that we should be able to start doing the 5-9 teir season 5s, right? We could hit Have what you hold after that if John Bob wants to take a break from his Beasts.

I like the idea of paying it forward, and certainly wouldn't mind a different GM, but as long as John wants to GM this group, I would like to keep him. :)

Out of curiosity, what is the Beasts a reference to?

We have a core group of characters and a secondary set of characters and this is our tierciary set of characters.

The core group are the Drongos (Aussie slang), the secondary group are the Slayers and this group are Bob's Beasts because Xull likes alliteration.

They are running through different scenarios w different Gms. It has been so long we do have a occasional bleed over. For example Pooka ran though a scenario w the Drongos since it was a faction mission for him.

As this is a third degree of seperation thing rarely do all of us play these season 5s. The GM chair is open to all and any that are committed to having a good time. If it makes sense for me to play rather than GM it is all good with me. As Targath knows I have no ego. Just want to have a good time gaming with interesting poeple. As my role model Charlie Sheen says, "Winning."
