Prig Lil |
Prig spurs Sir Hops-A-Lot on. "You heard Breeze-Boy! Let'z go!"
Prig mounted charges the far rhino non-lethally.
Lance to hit: 1d20 + 13 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 13 - 4 = 14
Damage: 3d6 + 30 ⇒ (5, 3, 3) + 30 = 41
He then continues, letting Prig take his attack.
Bite to hit: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 2 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
"Do not hurt zem! Zey know not what zey are doing! Zey are only poor rhinoz!"
Well, that could've been more impressive... Stupid dice.
Wayreth |
"Breeze-boy? What is that, my new vigilante code-name?" Wayreth mutters to himself as he adopts the snake style stance and tries to get around the rhinos while Prig distracts them.
From the map, it looks like I can get around to a flanking position with Prig using a double move, but only without provoking if they are flat-footed, so I will do that. If they are not flat-footed, please move me as far around them (by going North of them) as I can without getting within their reach.
"That's right, watch the frog, don't mind the Sylph moving around you to kick you in the soft spots..."
GM Aram Zey |
Everyone up till now was running from the rhinos, so they are not expecting anyone to come up to them and attack. They start flat-footed.
Salubri charges the nearest rhino, hoping to get a good hit in whilst their guard is down. As he is unable to flurry, he slashes with his scimitar instead.
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
confirm: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
snikt: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
He delivers a well-placed cut that leaves the rhino bloodied. And angry.
Prig and Hops follow close behind with a charge of their own. Prig cheers as his lance plunges deep into the wooly hide, not realising that he had only managed to plunge his lance through the wool, and not the hide. But he does manage to catch the rhino's attention so that it does not realise the rush of wind that breezes past it.
Jani concludes from the wool on the rhino that the creature is in fact a woolly rhinoceros. You have 2 questions. It's a very big rhino with alot of wool. What else do you want to know?
Jani gives the rhino the evil eye, warning it not to get any funny ideas.
will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
It does not look like the rhino will be getting any bright ideas for awhile.
The surrounded and hexed rhino bellows in frustration and rears up on its hind legs before barreling through and over [b]Salubri, Prig, Rowanna and Jani[/ooc], trampling right over them.
trample: 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 4) + 13 = 18 DC 23
Salubri, Prig, Rowanna and Jani, each of you can choose either to try to dodge out of the way for half damage (no damage with evasion), or take an attack of opportunity at a -4 penalty. Wayreth, you get an attack of opporunity for it leaving your threatened square. It is flanked for that attack only, and you are thereafter not flanking anything with anyone.
Salubri tries to evade the rhino's trample (since he has evasion).
ref: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Well, damn.
He trips over a pebble and is squashed by the rhino for his trouble.
The other rhino charges the nearest creature it sees. Which happens to be a frog. 1d2 ⇒ 2 The one below the other frog.
powerful charge: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 13 + 2 = 35
confirm: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 = 21 So close. That would have been nasty. Actually, bad news. You charged, so you are at -2 AC, meaning it just managed to confirm.
splat: 4d8 + 18 + 4d8 + 18 ⇒ (8, 2, 3, 8) + 18 + (5, 3, 1, 3) + 18 = 69
Unless you have some way to avoid the hit or negate the crit, I think we just lost the champion of the obstacle course...
The second rhino bears down on the poor Sir Hops-A-Lot, who prays that his master has some trick up his sleeve...

Avoiding the worst of the trample, Rowanna takes a 5 ft. step back and tries to place a Slumber Hex on the southern rhino.

I would have wanted to know special attacks, but I think we just saw one of them. Um, best save and worst save? I'm guessing probably Fort and Will respectively.
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Jani is badly squished by the trampling Rhino.
They decide to get above this danger, and begin floating upwards. Using Levitate on self as standard action, rise 20ft into the air as a move action.
They also retrieve a wand from their belt with their dextrous tail. Swift action to retrieve an item.
Wayreth |
Wayreth sees the opening and kicks at the rhino as it runs off.

attack of opportunity damage roll: 2d6 + 10 + 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 10 + (5, 6) = 27
Then sighs as Rowanna just puts the beast to sleep.
And then gasps when he sees the other rhino come in from the side and skewers Sir Hopsy.
"Hey! I liked that frog! Horns off!"
He moves around to get a flank with Prig and delivers a flying kick to the beast's stomach.

damage roll: 1d6 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 5 + (3, 5) = 17
Prig Lil |
Well, the major shenanigan that I have is the Mounted Combat feat, but I can't roll high enough to stop a 35. My other way to stave off death unfortunately doesn't apply to Sir Hops-A-Lot since he can't read.
Prig sees the rhino trying to step on him and attempts to knock it out before it steps on him. Sir Hops-A-Lot would've tried to get out of the way, but that's not going to matter.
Lance to hit: 1d20 + 9 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 4 + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
When the rhino takes the mount out from under him, Prig attempts to nimbly dodge out of the way.
Ride: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
He just barely makes the soft fall. Then he loosens and drops his shield, and stares at the rhino.
"Dammit! I just finished training him!"
Lance to hit: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Seriously? I can't even get a good hit in on retaliation? Ugh.
Prig Lil |
Eh - this is actually the 2nd Sir Hops-A-Lot - the last one died to a mummy. We'll just train a new one. (Unless of course we can find a druid that can cast raise animal companion in the chaos. In which case I'm pretty sure I have that much lying around, but I'm not 100% sure.)
I've been trying to build Prig to at least be mildly competent when not mounted - we'll see how well that works this scenario I guess. Loss of a shield hurts.
GM Aram Zey |
Salubri joins in the effort to avenge Sir Hops-A-Lot.
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
But is not able to cut through the woolly hide.
Prig also tries to get some measure of vengeance, but faces the same problem with the rhino's hide.
Wayreth runs around the back of the rhino, and with the help of the flank is just barely able to deliver a painful kick to the soft spot at back the rhino's knee.
Jani decides that it would be a good idea to get some height advantage. So she can have a better view of the overall battle, of course.
Jani, you have seen the TWO special attacks that the rhinos have. Trample and powerful charge. The second was what killed Sir Hops-A-Lot. Increased charge damage. And you are correct about the saves.
1d3 ⇒ 3
Angered by the kick from behind, the rhino wheels around and swings its horn at Wayreth!
attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
But it stumbles slightly as it turns around to face him, and the sylph dodges the attack easily.

You proceed to the Durvin Gest monument, where the sounds of battle are coming from. The monument itself is well-known to you. The tall main statue is cast in the likeness of Durvin Gest, the most famous Pathfinder of all time. Carved in a likeness of the adventurer in his later years—still dashing and bearing an assortment of scrolls and adventuring gear—the statue stares intently off into the distance. Beneath the statue, pedestals stand adorned with angelic figures and elaborate friezes showing some of the more memorable scenes from the Pathfinder’s long and celebrated career.
Or at least that was what you were expecting to see.
Instead you see a most ANIMATED statue of Durvin Gest, along with 3 of the angelic figures doing battle with a small group of novice pathfinders. They appear young and sorely outmatched, and upon seeing your group they heave sighs of relief as they quit the field.

Glitterdust, which is not mind affecting and does not allow spell resistance, so if these count as golems, they are not immune to it. Constructs are not immune to blindness, either, and this is a Will save (DC 18) not a Fortitude save. I'll draw a 10 ft radius spread on the map.

Sorry everyone, I'm back now. I've been trying to catch up on all of my games, but it's a few hundred posts all around and while I'm still in processing, internet is not too available. So I'm trying when I can. It should be easier from this point onwards.
I've mostly caught up, though it was a bit of speed reading and I might need to go over it all again. I just wanted to check, the -4 Wis is Drain and not Damage? (ouch!)
Activating my natural godsight, (See Invisibility Spell-Like Ability), I'll look around for anything trying to conceal itself around the statues and "angelic" creatures, while moving closer to Prig Lil, drawing my adamantine scimitar and holding out, "In case we can find no other way, . . . we may need to destroy the monument."
GM Aram Zey |
Jani identifies them as animated objects, but Rowanna also realises that the statues have been somehow animated in an unusual way that in some way resembles domination - the controllers have not granted them a mind of their own, but is actively controlling them, causing them to act in concert rather than mindlessly, but also rendering them vulnerable to mind-affecting spells and protection effects that disrupt mind-control (such as protection from evil, saving throws will apply).

Rowanna's lightning bolt tears through the statues, sending shards of stone flying off each of them.
Salubri suggests that someone in the party attempt to grapple the giant-sized statue, but his suggestion is met by incredulity from the rest of the party, who proceed to hammer at the statue.

Jani curses the statue (and to some extent the mysterious force controlling it) with ill fortune, and cackles with delight as her hex takes effect.
Wayreth and Prig pound away at the statue. Prig's first strike is solid, but hsi second attack glances off the hard stone. Both of Wayreth's kicks strike the statue with great force. Cracks now run throughout the monument's body, but it continues its blind attack nonetheless.

The blinded constructs flail at Prig and Wayreth to no effect as the two fend off the attacks with metal and speed respectively.
