"Uh-huh, uh-huh!" Saera nods her head in agreement. "Very fiendish, yes it is."

Actually, now that we have uniforms, it might be easiest to pretend we are part of the serving staff and make our way through the foyer and/or ballroom. It might shave a few minutes off the trip through the garden.
Bevek approaches Saera, Vanya, and the woman confronting them.
There you two are! I thought I told you to get back to work. Stop making eyes at the guests, and carry these trays. And don't just go through the doors and hang out there! You need to get to the other side of the ballroom, and make sure everyone is served.
Turning to the staff woman: Thank you for corraling these two. I've been after them all night to stop goofing off. It's a wonder you can find even adequate help these days.
Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Waving his hands at Vanya and Saera: Off with you. Get on with your business. And you two! Pointing towards Boderous and Starlene: Grab a tray and follow them. The food is not going to serve itself.
Back to the staff woman: I better follow this lot. The moment I let my guard down, I just know they will start goofing off again. We can't have that. Not tonight! Sheesh!
Bevek rounds up the group, and follows them through the doors into the foyer.

Starlene looks abashed, hanging her head and sighing dramatically, she grabs a tray and moves through the curtains with the others, casting a glare at Bevek.
Spending as little time as possible, she moves through the crowd serving drinks until she gets to the other side, where she slips through the curtain and waiting for the right moment, slips back in to the waiting room, quickly changing back in to her normal clothes and stashing the servant's uniform under her cloak, after all hiding it somewhere around here would only tip the embassy's hand at who was to blame.

Good idea Bevek, yes that will actually work well.
The group move out loaded with drinks and tiny quiches, the Gala is in full swing and the group see Venture Captain Amara Li laughing will a plump well dressed man who must be the Ambassador. She shoots them a dirty look as her companion looks away for a moment.
The ballroom is sumptuously decorated as are its occupants, the whole affair elaborate and ostentatious, but still rather beautiful. The plump woman follows them out and glowers at Saera and Vanya for five minutes before finally vanishing behind the curtains.
Finally the group are able to slip through the northern curtain emerging into the corridor beyond, and given their uniforms it is easy enough to slip back into the waiting room - where they presumably change out of their pilfered uniforms.

Vanya stays silent, chheks coloring red and her expression conveying embarassment and shame. As Bevek finishes his tirade she nods and without a word grabs one of the trays and moves towards the ballroom. Once out of it and securely back in the waiting room she sighs with relief and starts to undress:"Make sure not to peek. We did well today but not THAT well!" she says grinning at the two male pathfinders.

Bevek grabs a tray and deftly maneuvers between the partygoers. As his tray empties, he makes his way to the north curtain wall. He even manages to give VC Amara Li a quick wink before he slips out.
Once back in the waiting room, Bevek turns his back to accomodate the more modest members of the group, and strips off the servants uniform. He puts the dirty, worn overcoat back on, and reapplies some of the makeup he had on for the trip in (chalk dust in the hair, charcoal for age spots). He is once again the gimpy old man who entered the embassy.
Good work everyone. Let's stash these uniforms somewhere, and then all we have to do is wait for the ambassador.

Tray in hand Boderus follows the others. He practically forces the drinks onto people, standing in front of them and offering his tray in a very obsessive way.
Once in the waiting chamber he drops his servants clothes and puts his cloak on again.
"I wouldn't peak, normal skin doesn't really appeal to me anyways."
He gives a quick look in Saera's direction and then looks down again.

Saera takes a tray and, head hanging down, serves the guests in the ballroom. Once the evil woman who didn't let her go to the bathroom doesn't look, Saera slips out of the ballroom and eats the last crab puff on the tray.
Ha! Take that!
Once back in the waiting room Saera notices Boderus' quick look, and shakes her head with a grin. She pulls off the uniform and reveals her normal clothes, which she wore underneath all along. Saera's clothes don't reveal much skin, but her body obviously shows off her succubus lineage.

Some fifteen minutes pass as the group waits having changed back into their own attire, and the Ambassador finally enters, frowning at them, "I understand you have urgent information you can give only to me? May I have it?"

![]() |

He is the same man the group saw speaking with Venture Captain Amara Li in the ballroom, has appeared at the expected time, and Vanya senses no duplicity. Additionally the information was not particularly important to The Society, only being given over for an excuse to gain you access to the Embassy.

Bevek fumbles around in his overcoat for a minute before producing the packet of information.
Yes, yes. Here is the information. Very important stuff, for your eyes only...wheeze....wheeze...
It sounds like quite the party out there. Are you celebrating anything in particular? ...wheeze...

The Ambassador takes the papers and begins rifling through them frowning, "Hmmm, of I am sure it is in aide of something, though I cannot presently recall. Such mixers are mostly to propagate diplomatic ties between the great and the good, and allow sons and daughters to get to know those they might be called upon the marry. I venture to think that more diplomacy is conducted upon the fringes of such events over a glass of good wine than in more formal meetings."
He looks up seemingly surprised you are still there, [b]"If you will excuse me, my secretary can show you out, I shall need to look this over at some length."
So dismissed the group head back to the Grand lodge and Venture Captain Valsin he commends their efforts, "Well done, now we know that Zarta has been framed, probably by this Tancred Desimire. Here take these token, Zarta gave them to me before her disappearance, they are marked with the insignia of House Thrune and will make many Chelaxians more disposed to aid you."
Fin! Well done all, I should be able to report roll for boons, and get chronicles out today. Expect Library of the Lion to start today or tomorrow, I'll post a link in the discussion thread once it is ready to go.

Vanya shrugs as she receives the chaelish badge:"Well... great. I suppose being in the devil's good graces has its uses, all things considered..."
Thanks everyone. It has been a really nice game. Great roleplaying everyone! :P

"Oh neat!" Saera quickly affixes the token to her shirt. "I've wanted one of these badges since I joined the Cheliax faction!"
I hope one of us wins a boon! In the game I ran nobody won anything :(
