Saera Dyar
|
"Did you just eat one of Lord Fithington's crab puffs, servant?!" Despite her offended tone of voice, Saera does her best to hide an amused grin. "How rude! You can be sure I'll notify him of this."
Boderus Flower
|
Boderus walks up to the door and listens for any movement on the other side.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
If there is no sound on the other side Boderus will go through the door.
The Broken GM
|
The group earn a puzzled look from a serving man, who eyes them suspiciously before hurrying back through the double doors with a tray of tiny tarts.
Opening the southernmost door, silent on the other side, you find yourselves in a narrow empty corridor, much more utilitarian than the rest of the embassy. The rooms off to the side A11 appear to be the servants quarters and a quick glance indicates that five minutes searching should be able to turn up a servants uniform of appropriate size for any of the party.
Once anyone who choose to adopt a uniform has done so the western door proves to lead out onto a busy corridor bustling with servants.
For the corridor A12, you must either be dressed in a servants uniform or make an intimidate check to brow beat servants into minding their own business.
Starlene Arachel
|
We have opportunity here my friends Starlene addresses everyone.
Let us not forget we need to get back to the waiting room as well as to Zarta's chambers in the hour we have, and going back the way we just came seems very much the roundabout route. I suggest we grab servant's clothing now to aid our infiltration down this next corridor, and also to allow us to use the gala ballroom itself as a pathway back to the waiting area when we are done...
Starlene takes 5 minutes to grab a suitable set of servant's clothes, wrapping her gear in her cloak and carrying that in front of her as if she was on a delivery errand, before plunging in to the corridor ahead to get to the other end as quickly as possible.
Bevek Verdade
|
That certainly gives us options. Let's make this quick, though.
Bevek joins in the search for appropriate outfits, and follows Starlene out the far end of the corridor.
Boderus Flower
|
Boderus rummages through some clothing chests to find something fitting. He pulls off his cloak and puts the servants outfit over his normal garb.
"Let us move swift."
He follows Starlene to the end of the corridor.
Saera Dyar
|
"They don't have my colors," Seare says disappointed. After some searching she at least find something her size, and also puts on the outfit over her own clothes. She wraps her weapons and backpack in her cloak, and follows Starlene's example of carrying the 'package' in front of her.
"Ready to go." Seara continues down the corridor, and opens the door on the far end. There she waits for the others to catch up to her.
The Broken GM
|
Looking out into the bustling servant filled corridor, the group can see two doors but it is going to be nearly impossible to cross without being seen.
Most of the group make it across to the door of their choice, but Boderus and Starlene are both accosted by a plump serving middle aged serving man who thrusts a pair of trays laden with glasses of wine at them,
"You there! Circulate with these, you new hires! You should either have a tray or be getting a tray!"
Bluff to make an excuse, lower DC if you actually make a good excuse, or sleight of hand to try to set the tray down surreptitiously. Otherwise you need to go into the ballroom and circulate playing servant for 5 mins.
Saera: 1d100 ⇒ 45

Bevek: 1d100 ⇒ 44
Starlene: 1d100 ⇒ 94

Vanya Kaleth
|
Being confident in her powers of persuasion Vanya moves back near the serving man ordering Starlene and Boderus around with a bored expression that suddenly turns into an angry scowl as she notices the two slowing:"You! These two are with me! I was ordered by lady Trelax herself to bring them along!" Vanya scowl deepens:"Stop bothering us... unless you want lady Trelax to wonder why you meddled in one direct order of hers!" so saying Vanya gestures for Boderus and Starlene to follow her towards the door, paying the servant no more mind as if the situation had naturally resolved itself

Bevek Verdade
|
Bevek walks like he has a purpose towards the door to A14. He trys the doorknob. If it's unlocked, he opens the door and enters the room. If it's locked, he turns to Saera (who I believe has the keys) and motions towards the doorknob with an impatient sweep of his hand.
The Broken GM
|
The servant splutters, but snatches the trays back angrily and stalks off through the ballroom.
One of the keys does prove to fit the door and the party are able to slip quickly through. The furniture of this luxurious sitting room is covered in drop cloths, and buckets of pain sit against the walls where erotic murals are in the process of being replaced by a neutral institutional taupe. An enormous tall gilt frame leans against the wall. A door to the east leads to a hallway, while a door to the south-west is propped open by a bucket and displays the half dissolved inscription, "Where love comes to die."
Boderus Flower
|
Boderus looks around in the room.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Bah, awful taste.
He moves towards the south-western door and peers into the rooms it lead to, to see if anyone is present.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
If he hears or sees nothing then he will enter the room.
Bevek Verdade
|
Bevek makes sure the door to the hallway is closed behind us. We don't need a nosy passerby interfering with things.
GM, can we get a time check?
Noticing the inscription: Wow, the paracountess must be some piece of work. Some people must go for that, though. I heard she had them lined up at the door wanting to get in.
Bevek makes a quick search of the room, looking for anything useful. He spends a minute looking at the frame. He also leans it forward, to see if there is anything behind it.
The Broken GM
|
Boderus opens the door and finds himself in a bed chamber.
This extravagant bedchamber is dominated by a four poster be dthat takes up half the room. Red-varnished wardrobes and vanities complement the black silk sheets on the bed, which appears to be in the process of being dismantled. The walls of the room have been stripped of portraits that once hung there, faint outlines of the art pieces being all that remain. The exception to this is the eastern wall which is occupied by an elaborate woodcutting depicting but a single nymph in a seductive pose, garbed in nothing but a necklace shaped like the Asmodean star.
Starlene Arachel
|
OK well the decor being mid-renovation confirms what we already know about her existing despite the embassy's declarations, and I see the Paracountess' reputation is quite deserved!
Starlene then begins a methodical search for any papers, clothes or other clues that might help the pathfinder infiltration team determine what happened to Ms Dralneen.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Evidently Starlene is just a little too distracted by the murals...!
Boderus Flower
|
Boderus join Starlene in her search.
"Renovated or not, looks pretty bad. Who could have a taste like that"
He starts a methodical search through the chamber.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
I think Boderus really hates the art :P
Saera Dyar
|
Saera shrugs after taking a look at the art. "i don't get what's wrong with it, I quite like it."
Joining the others who are lookng for clues about the paracountess' disappearance, Seara decides to start searching in the room they arrived in.
Perception A14: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Vanya Kaleth
|
Vanya chuckles:"You know Boderus... for for such a stoic man you certainly get quite flushed faced for just a couple of drawings about naked people...".
Then Vanys checks the paintings a bit more carefully before whistling:"Weeeel... I tried a couple of these myself but I'm not even sure most of what is depicted here is actually phisically possible... say waht you want about her but that paracountess certainly had a vivid fantasy! If we get to meet her I should make certain to ask her a couple of things..." the pirate girl finishes with a sly grin on her face.

Sorry, I think I should have included this roll earlier.
Perception A14: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
After checking out the sitting room, Bevek follows Boderus into the bedroom. He glances quickly around the room. When he sees the woodcut, he stops to admire it for a few seconds.
Now this one I could get to like. It has a certain....titilating elegance to it.
With a last glance at the nymph, he turns and spots the door to the north. He opens it and moves into the room to search it.
Perception A16: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
The Broken GM
|
There are no papers, but the group do note that the Asmodean Star in the nymph woodcut resembles the top of the oddly shaped cross key upon their keyring.
Please position yourselves on the map folks :) Otherwise you will be stuck where I place you for something...
Bevek Verdade

Now that is interesting. I wonder if her abductors knew about this. Hold on a second. She may have extra security measures installed, especially if this is where she kept her secrets. Let me take a closer look.
Perception(Trapfinding): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

"So we need a key... hmm..." saera walks into the room north of the bedroom and searches for a key, or anything else that may prove useful.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
After searching the room Saera moves back into the bedroom. She tries several of the keys they already had on the keyhole within the Asmodean Star.
Starlene Arachel
|
Starlene moves to get a better vantage point with the key going in the woodcut.
Well at least she has some taste, there are other places I wouldn't have been surprised her placing that keyhole she winks.
Boderus Flower
|
Looking a bit annoyed at Vanya Boderus says.
"Bah... naked women and I flush? Do you see me as a toddler?!"
He moves to the northern door in the room and listens. If he hears nothing he will enter.

As soon as the key is placed in the lock there is a popping sound and two twisted little red creatures vaguely humanoid save for their horns wings and scorpion-like tails appear!
"I suggest you leave these rooms my man, this is really too dangerous a situation to be worth of your time," one creature drawls, grinning and waggling its scaly brows at Bevek.
The other flaps over the bed and lashes out with its tail at Saera

Guh, sorry Bevek, I hate taking someone out of the combat, but could not come up with a reasonable suggestion that would keep you involved.
Cackling the creatures move to flank Boderus their stings lashing out in unison and both sinking into the tiefling, one catching him painfully in the throat!

Wow, it sounds nasty in there. Good thing they had me wait out here.

Now what exactly are they doing in this picture? Oh, I get it. Oh...oh, my.
Saera Dyar
|
"Bevek! Get your ass back in here!" Saera's frustration with her spineless comrade is rather obvious. "You should at least aid another!"
Saera positions herself so she can flank one of the creatures with Boderus. While Saera moves she draws her longsword, and when behind her enemy she swings it at the creature.

Saera, you missed the +1 damage from Inspire Courage so you may have left a mark depending on the level of DR!
Starlene gulps as she sees the devil's wound close, but continues to sing as she steps forward herself and swings at the mischievous devil. She forces her arcane power through her sword as it swings in a bright arc.

One of Boderus's claws catches the creature between him and Saera with a powerful blow, though it clearly is not as effective as it would be against a normal foe it certainly hurts the beast!
One of the imps lashes out with its sting at Vanya, while the other attacks Boderus again before flitting away. The tiefling sways aside easily, but Vanya takes a sting in the shoulder!
