Exiel |
Yeah...something tells me I'm going to be eating a full attack next round. Totally worth it though! My most satisfying smite evil so far! XD
Lillian Woo |
Issac's shots are all touch attacks right?
Lillian will try some missiles at the new demon..
SR: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
MM: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 2) + 3 = 8
GM Aram Zey |
Lillian, I have moved you closer so that you have line of sight to the daemon.
As Lillian concentrates on her spell, she realises that there is no force opposing her spell! No spell resistance!
Moreover, as the tiny bolts slam into the creature, the little bit of extra damage turns out to be just enough to tip the large creature over the brink. It collapses to the floor with a howl, and a shudder.
That shudder is accompanied by another down your spine as another similar howl sounds out from somewhere else on this level!
GM Aram Zey |
Round 9 commences!
Lillian, Aestrid and Isaac notice that there is another ceustodaemon rounding the corner down the other passage! The daemon sees the three of them as well, and seizing the initiative, growls in an infernal tongue.
Who does it choose?: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Isaac, make a will save, DC17. If you fail, you find yourself held in place!
Warning:1 round left on silence spell, Exiel's protection from evil and Lillian's shield.
Declare actions!
Isaac Quinn RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32 |
In that case, Isaac will take a five foot step and full attack.
"Another demon!", he shouts.
"Demons everywhere. Nasty things. Reminded me of my ex-wife, all snarling and sputtering. Luckily, Demons have a big weakness that they share with most every other creature - they are not immune to lead.
Normally, I don't unload like this, but the party's in a bit of danger, so...
Spending a swift action to make this particular demon the target of my Guide abilities. +2 to hit him and to damage rolls.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Damage 1: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Attack 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Damage 2: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Attack 3: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Damage 3: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Attack 4: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Damage 4: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Attack 5: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage 5: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
Attack 6: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage 6: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Attack 6 is a possible crit. If the following roll confirms, add this to damage 6.
Attack 6 Confirmation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage 6: 3d8 + 39 ⇒ (5, 2, 1) + 39 = 47
GM Aram Zey |
Isaac needs to make a DC17 will save or be held though. If you do not roll before everyone else declares actions, I will roll for you.
The good news is I'm pretty sure you get Aestrid's luck blessing on this roll, so you can roll twice and take the better result.
Also remember that you are not in PBS range.
Isaac Quinn RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32 |
GM Aram Zey |
Isaac shakes off the daemon's spell and unleashes a salvo of bullets into the daemon. However, he finds that the bullets do not penetrate as well as he thought they would.
But the sheer number of bullets does cause the daemon quite abit of pain, and it looks at Isaac with murderous intent.
Losing PBS means -1 to hit and damage to the above rolls. However, you are also in the 4th range increment for your double-barreled pistol, so you're looking at -7 to hit and -1 damage to all the above rolls. That's what you pay for getting so many attacks. Because of that, shots 2 and 5 miss, and the crit does not confirm.
Ranus, Aestrid, Exiel and Lillian are up.
Aestrid Tularssan |
Every one of Isaac's d20 rolls should be rolled twice, including the critical confirmation and the saving throw (to quote the ability: "For the next round, any time the target rolls a d20, he may roll twice and take the more favorable result.") Since he may crit a second time and/or confirm the crit he did roll, I'll wait for those rolls to be resolved before posting. Also, I cast Bless like 6 rounds ago so he should have a +1 to hit that wasn't accounted for.
GM Aram Zey |
In case people are waiting for Isaac to reroll, if he does not reroll within 24 hours of his last post, I will do the rerolls for him.
Meanwhile, if your actions do not depend on Isaac's actions, please post your actions.
Lillian Woo |
Lillian will move to L10 and cast Entangle(DC 17), starting it at H9/10 and moving it back to encompas the Daemon.. Assuming there are some sorta lichens or something growing down here..
Ranus Kerschen |
Unable to do much about the incoming daemons and knowing they might soon need to beat a hasty escape, Ranus moves to the woman on the table and starts untying the captive woman.
Don't know what sort of action or check that might take, but my next best option is just a wand of magic missile..
Aestrid Tularssan |
Aestrid mentally directs her whip to attack the remaining demon and blesses Isaac once more since he seems to be the one who fights with the most aplomb.
Meanwhile, her leopard makes sure the daemon is dead before it returns to the planes of chaos from whence it came.
Stand still, use Bit of Luck on Isaac once more (4/6 uses remain), move action to attack with Spiritual Weapon
Spiritual Weapon 9/10: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Spell Resistance check if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
GM Aram Zey |
Will reroll for Isaac in a few hours if he does not pop in.
Lillian: There are no plants in there to cast entangle with. It's a solid rock basement that is connected to a sewer. Choose another action?
Ranus: The woman is strapped to the table. It would take you a total of 4 move/standard actions to remove all of them. You can get one of her limbs free this turn.
GM Aram Zey |
Ok, to move things on, I will do Isaac's re-rolls now.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Attack 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Attack 4: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Attack 5: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Attack 6 confirmation: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
GM Aram Zey |
Wow...I don't think I could have rolled worst if I tried.
Ok, the re-rolls do not change anything this round.
Ranus moves to the table and releases one of the woman's limbs from the straps on the table.
Aestrid's leopard does a coup de grace on the daemon. CDG damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13
However, its teeth seem to fail to penetrate the creature's hide!
Aestrid herself blesses Isaac and directs her whip to attack the daemon. The whip fails to strike a telling blow on the creature.
Lillian readies an action to cast grease.
Exiel moves.
Round 9 ends.
GM Aram Zey |
Round 10 to commence in a couple of hours, need to attend to the kids...
GM Aram Zey |
Upon having her hand freed by Ranus, the woman on the table works feverously at the straps as well, freeing her other hand and one of her legs.
Round 10 commences
Warning: the silence spell and several buffs will fade this round.
You barely hear the faint sounds of chanting coming from elsewhere on this level. It is a female voice.
The daemon charges down the hallway, its chest flaring to a glowing bright orange as flames appear in its mouth. However, it triggers Lillian's readied spell.
Ceustodaemon's reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
The daemon slips on the suddenly-conjured grease and falls flat on its face. It growls in frustration and gets to its feet.
Declare actions!
GM Aram Zey |
Since I can't see this affecting Isaac's actions, I'll do Ranus' actions now.
The woman moans piteously as you ask her your question. She gestures to her bloodied mouth which trembles as she opens for you to look inside. You notice that her tongue is a mangled mess, and that special restorative magic or substantial general healing magic will need to be given to repair the damage enough to allow her to speak.
She then stumbles to her feet and moves to a corner of the room, eager to get away from the daemon that is glaring at the lot of you.
Isaac, Aestrid, Lillian and Exiel declare actions please.
Exiel |
Uncertain as to whether his weapon will affect the daemon without his smite, Exiel decides to find out via trial and error (chances are it's silver or cold iron-Exiel's hooked lance is cold iron).
He moves to K11 and takes a stab with the hooked lance.
attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
attack: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Aestrid Tularssan |
Aestrid draws out her wand of True Strike and activates it while she moves north (M8). Her spell attacks for the final time.
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
GM Aram Zey |
Ok, once again I have no idea when Isaac will pop in, so I will assume he takes a 5ft step and full attack, and I will roll his attacks. The good news for you guys is that he is much closer to Isaac, so his accuracy just went up by +4, and he gets point-blank shot on top of that.
Isaac takes a deep breath and unleashes a full round of bullets once more.
attack 1.1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
attack 1.2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
attack 2.1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
attack 2.2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
attack 3.1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
attack 3.2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
attack 4.1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
attack 4.2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
attack 5.1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
attack 5.2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
attack 6.1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
attack 6.2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Unsurprisingly, they all hit, but no crits.
damage: 6d8 + 78 ⇒ (4, 7, 8, 5, 1, 7) + 78 = 110 (-x for DR)
The daemon collapses under the hail of bullets, though it is still breathing.
Aestrid's spiritual weapon lashes out at the creature, further wounding it, and Exiel's strike with his lance seals the deal.
Lillian has a moment to wonder whether she had wasted her time casting her mirror image spell when suddenly you hear more chanting! An emaciated dog-like creature appears in the air in the midst of you and lets out a terrifying howl!
GM Aram Zey |

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
The woman in the corner of the room glares defiantly, but feebly at the obviously demonic/daemonic/devillish hound floating in the sky, though she still clutches a hand to her mouth in obvious agony.
You can also all make perception checks to notice something interesting.
Ranus Kerschen |
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
Really? I can't Knowledge my way out of a paper bag this game, lol.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
I CAN make Perception checks though, hurrah! Hopefully I find out where the caster is.. Which tunnel, at least.
GM Aram Zey |
Ranus, you know from the fearful howl that the creature is a Yeth Hound. They are like the stray mongrels of the lower plains, and their bite can inflict fear as well. You also know they can fly, but you can see that evidently enough too.
You think that the chanting came from somewhere generally to the West, though you're not sure how far away it was or if it was in the room or further down the passage.
Ranus Kerschen |
A yeth hound! But right here?.. she must be able to see us! Which means.. Hoping that the summoner hadn't been able to escape too far just yet, Ranus steps between Isaac and the table, and casts another Web down the western hall.
Casting Web at the square one west of A11 after a five foot step north. HOPEFULLY she's still right there. And if not, she no longer has LOS to us I wouldn't think.
Aestrid Tularssan |
Will save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Knowledge: Planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
I forgot my +1 to fear saves due to bless so I'm fine
Aestrid lashes out with her whip, trying to blind the hound. Should be simple enough with her current divine blessing.
Dirty trick attack (blind) with True Strike: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (8) + 28 = 36
Aestrid Tularssan |
Say, how far off the ground is the hound? If it's out of reach of everyone else, then I'd rather use Reposition to put it somewhere handy on ground level for Exiel... Maybe somewhere Aestrid can reach with a 20' move to flank it for him.
GM Aram Zey |
The hound is 15ft above ground. The ceiling is 20ft high.
Lillian, you make the save because of the reroll, but I still need an action out of you. Exiel, you too.
Exiel |
will save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
I'm going to try to help locate the one summoning these things, otherwise we'll just keep getting whittled down by summons...
Exiel will take a double move down the corridor, to J10 then down to B10 (I think that's where Ranus' web will end reach up to?) whilst holding his hooked lance out pointing towards the North. His goal is not to attack, but rather to see if he will meet some form of invisible resistance.
(So he will be holding his lance out sideways as he runs, and sees if he or his lance collide into anything. If he does, he'll ask Lillian to cast a glitterdust over that spot.)
Lillian, can you ready an action to cast glitterdust if I give the signal?
Acrobatics to move over grease: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16
GM Aram Zey |
Ranus moves a little way to the North and casts his web spell into the tunnel.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Ranus, I don't see web in your prepared spells, so I assume this is cast from a scroll. Please let me know if I am mistaken.
Aestrid: are you changing your action?
GM Aram Zey |
When Ranus casts his spell, you hear female grunts of exertion, as if someone were dodging something desperately. You do not see any movement amongst the webs though. It would appear that whoever was dodging them has managed to evade the sticky strands, for now at least.
Isaac Quinn |
Will 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Will 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
In fairness, had I not known the DC, I would have used my 4-star reroll on that, so, I just won't use my reroll.
Fantastic. More nasties. This day just keeps getting better and better. I'm glad we chose the stealthy approach.
"Damn. At this rate, I'm gonna be out of bullets before the night's out. I never run out of bullets..."
You know the drill.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Damage 1: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Attack 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Damage 2: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Attack 3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Damage 3: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Attack 4: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Damage 4: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Attack 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage 3: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Attack 4: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage 4: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
No crits.
GM Aram Zey |
Isaac unleashes a lead barrage on the yeth hound. It does not survive. However, unlike the ceustodaemons, it disappears as it falls towards the ground, and does not leave a corpse.
Lillian, since your target is no longer around, you can change your action.
GM Aram Zey |
Ranus, the grunts likely came from somewhere within the webs, but you have no way of telling where exactly within the webs, as the webs have a large AoE.
Exiel gets to the edge of the webs, probing blindly with his lance as he goes, but fails to detect anything. For now.
Lillian?
GM Aram Zey |
Exiel hears chanting very close to him and definitely from somewhere within the webs, but without the ability to see the caster, is unable to do anything about it.
Suddenly, another creature appears. It looks like a monstrous dis-embodied head with wings for ears, and it appears directly beside Exiel, inside of the reach of his lance. It leers menacingly as it lets out an ear-piercing shriek.
Everyone needs to make a DC 14 fort save or be unable to act this round (and I will tell you more about what happens to you when you fail the save.)
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Exiel sees brief movement within the webs in general, then all is still again. I'll tell you guys what's been happening and where she's been when all this is over.
Round 11 begins! Declare actions!

Pretty sure he can make a Perc Check, or even guess a square to attack and roll 50% miss if he chooses the right one.. Its also very hard to cast a spell while entangled in a web..

Lillian reups her shield spell..

He can, but not for an AoO. Also, she made her saving throw, and in pathfinder web does not give the entangled condition.

I really should be able to at least get a direction. People IRL can hear where a sound is coming from, and violently dodging webs and gasping is going to be a pretty audible sound. But whatever.. We're all just pretty much unable to do jack squat at this point.
