Will be very curious *cough* as to what abilities come up now :P
As for the next mission you will be traveling through a desert so don't forget survival skills! A create water spell might also come in useful now I think about it, although I always have that in my level 0 spells as a caster. :)
Ama
I can't help but wonder about that large group of dwarves. Did they really need our help, or were they just lazy? xD
Anyway, I liked this mission! I look forward to the next! :)
I suggest we keep the CLW and CMW potions for 'general party purposes', letting two characters who can't heal themselves hold those. That'd be Almalik and Fish, considering Ama just got a healing ability of her own.
That leaves us with 3035gp, and the following items:
- Studded leather armor x7
- light steel shields x7
- longswords x7
- Arrows 50
Does anyone want some of that loot? Ama'll likely pick up a composite longbow, and could use (a share of) the arrows.
GM, do the items we don't want sell for 50%?
Ama
If you wonder why I ignored the advice about the survival skill: I'd go from -1 to just +0 if I'd invest a rank in survival... >.<
No purchases have been made, yet.
Ama's level-up stuff:
HP: +5 from class, +2 Con --> 17
Base Atk Bonus: +1 --> +1
CMB: +1 from Base Atk --> +4
CMD: +1 from Base Atk --> 17
Ref: +1 from class --> +6
Will: +1 from class --> +2
Alternate class bonus: Add +1/2 mote of time per day.
(Chose the same at level 1. So I have 1 extra mote now.)
Motes of Time: +1 from favorite class bonus, +1 from going up a level --> 6
Gained a Temporal Talent, and have chosen Old Wounds (Su):
As a standard action, the time thief can channel time into a wound, causing it to experience rapid healing, as if many days had passed. The time thief may spend a mote to heal her own wounds, or the wounds of an ally touched. The wounds heal for 1d8 damage +1 per class level of the time thief.
5 new skill ranks (6 -1 for low Int):
Acrobatics +1 --> +6
Disguise +1 --> +6
Escape Artist +1 --> +6
Stealth +1 --> +6
Use Magic Device +1 --> +3

We should probably buy a wand of CLW for the group and give it to Nagbur. He won't run out of healing gas so quickly that way.

100% seconded! :)
Almalik Fezana
2nd level is always a sad one for sorcerers and arcanists too!
Hp: +6 total (+1 each from con and favored class)
Skills: 1 rank into diplomacy, arcana, planes, history, spellcraft, UMD, and linguistics (learned Giant)
Other: +1 BAB, +1 will saves
Class: Added enlarge person and magic missile to spellbook. No new class abilities.

Happy 2015 :)
And no rush with leveling! Will draw the maps up tomorrow. Any advice before I start drawing? I already have more props and a background.

Almalik Fezana
I don't think so. I make my maps using a bunch of photo editing crap that isn't nearly as charming. How are you doing your maps? Are you actually painting then scanning them, for example?
GM Dinuci
I did indeed draw them and scanned them ^^ I searched for some map making tools but they all take a lot of time without the results I want. I found one guy explaining on the use of excel for maps and that might actually be useful. Am trying that out at the moment.
Ama
That stone's the ioun stone, isn't it? I'd say let Almalik continue to use it, that'll be beneficial to all of us :)
I'd like to suggest Almalik holds the CLW potion and Fish the CMW potion, considering Fish is mostly in melee. That way they'll have a way to heal in case Nagbur somehow can't. (We could get separated at some point. You never know.)
------
Ama's wealth: 1000gp 8sp.
Contributing 187gp 5sp to the CLW wand Nagbur'll hold.
Buying: Darkwood Composite Longbow [+3 Str] (730gp), Arrows [40] (2gp), Alchemical silver arrows [20] (41gp), Cold iron arrows [20] (2gp), Large Tent (30gp), Trail Ration [x8] (4gp)
What's left of Ama's wealth: 4gp 3sp
Almalik Fezana
Somewhat confused. So we have the 1000 gp reward and then a cut from the 3035 gold so uh... 1758.75? Either way I'll figure out my shopping list pronto.
GM Dinuci
No you have the 3035 and sell the stuff and get a reward for the mission. Which results in 4000 total around and about, 1000 each. A cut from the reward money had been kept by the guild, hence the round number. Not my total lazyness to calculate everything!
I understand the confusion. Couldn't het it quite right when telling.
Fish Silverscale
So far Fish will be picking up a set of master work thieves tools. I was thinking about getting a weapon cord, but reading the description it sounds like it would interfere with his claw attacks.
Almalik Fezana
Almalik will buy himself a wand of mage armour for 750 gold and donate 187.5 to the cure light wounds wand for Nagbur.
GM Dinuci
@Fish & Nagbur could you post the changes made to tour characters?
When everyone is ready with shopping we shall continue! I'm really excited for the next mission.

@Fish & Nagbur could you post the changes made to tour characters?
I'd planned to. Between the holidays and some year-end close-out issues at work, I didn't finish the level-up until just now. I've transferred the updates from Hero Lab to Nagbur's page (correctly, I hope). Everything there is hyperlinked for whenever more detail is needed.

Hmm.. from what the trader is telling us, it sounds like we're not done shopping yet. Maybe we should invest in hot weather outfits? (Surely that sort of thing would be available in this village, being on the edge of the desert and all.)
GM Dinuci
You may still buy the last needed stuff in the village. The one giving you the mission is a trader after all ^^
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Dinuci
Survival skill on hot weather:
Gain a +2 bonus on all Fortitudesaves against severe weather while moving up to half your overland speed, or gain a +4 bonus if you remain stationary. You may grant the same bonus to one other character for every 1 point by which your Survival check result exceeds 15.
Hot weather clothing costs 8 gold and gives a +2 bonus on fort saves for hot weather.
The bonusses of these two do not stack.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Ama
I don't have enough gold left for a hot weather outfit. I'll just take my chances with Fort and Survival rolls.
Nagbur Damnstink
I can front you if you need it. Putting one of us at a disadvantage puts all of us at a disadvantage.
Ama
If I could borrow 3gp 7sp I'd be able to buy the Hot Weather Outfit. Thanks, Nagbur! :)
Nagbur Damnstink
Nah, Stinky'll just buy you a set outright. It's not worth splitting the difference. And besides, this way makes for better telling. :o)
Almalik Fezana
Is there 375 gold left amongst the group? Late to the party but this adventure seems like a create water spell would be REALLY handy.
Ama
Thanks Nagbur! :)
That'd be 93gp 7sp 5cp a person for the wand, and Ama now has 3gp 7sp available... If two of you'd pay 30gp extra, and one 30gp 5cp, I'll return that money after the mission.
I really wanted that bow. This mission should leave me with some more funds!
Nagbur Damnstink
I think there's an argument for each of us having a little spending cash in our pockets -- what happens if we get separated and someone needs to buy their way out of a situation or acquire some vital item, for example?
So, I'm just going to have Nagbur pay for the water wand outright at 375 GP, for the good of the group. If any of you wish to contribute, you can state how much you want to put in the kitty, but it's absolutely not necessary.
GM Dinuci
I think you are complete now :) I feel like you guys bought something... 5 minutes later went back to the store: next item... 5 minutes later... and so on xD
Do you think you are ready to face the harsh desert? :) If so you may head out and roll survival for three days if you stop at the nearest cross in the desert. (Don't forget the +2 bonus from the compass!) Also please specify how you place the camp!
GM Dinuci
Loot sheet is updated. You found 200 gold and the chest with scrolls, aside from the loot you found in the sarcophagus.
Nagbur Damnstink
You guys have way too much healing power!
"All Praise Ama!" for that. I think we'd've lost at least two PCs in that battle if it'd only been Nagbur; Fish would've gone down and the Cubis would have turned on whoever was next. At this level Nagbur can only manage about 1/2 CLW per round (because he can "heal" 1d6 but only by transferring that to himself, and then he has to pause to self-heal at a rate of 3 HP per round).
Ama, you really saved our bacon on that one. Thank you! And kudos to Fish for never backing down, and Almalik for the great strategies. I'm proud to be on this team and am looking forward to when Nagbur can pull more of his own weight!
GM Dinuci
That was indeed one hell of a fight. I'm glad the other creatures later in the night didn't notice you guys ;P
Congratulations on defeating the first Cubis though!!!
You guys must be really curious as to what the end boss might be ;P
Ama
No problem! ;) I'm really glad my healing spell doesn't just work on myself.
I was just thinking... Nagbur's able to freely distribute HP within the collective. It should be possible to just sap Ama's HP next time she doesn't get to fight anyway. She can then take a greater distance from the fight in order to be in a safer position, and heal herself with Old Wounds when it's needed.
I don't want Ama to act like an HP back-up that stays on the background all the time, but it seems like a good strategy for situations in which we need to drastically increase our healing output.
Also, Ama has a composite longbow. Not very effective versus a cubis, but better than doing nothing if Ama doesn't require healing for a turn.
Nagbur Damnstink
I was just thinking... Nagbur's able to freely distribute HP within the collective.
Technically, he can freely distribute recovered HP. If someone's getting some healing, he can grab part or all of that gain and send it elsewhere(s). But while he can "suck HP out of" someone -- dealing damage in the process -- that doesn't work on a member of the Collective and can't be done over the link.
That might've been what you meant, but I just wanted to clarify.
Ama
I thought he could just take the HP of anyone in the collective.
Ah well, we'll use a different strategy then!
Nagbur Damnstink
I don't know, maybe that's an option at higher levels. For now he's limited to this:
Whenever a willing member of the vitalist's collective could regain lost hit points or ability damage, the vitalist may choose to redirect any or all of that healing to one or more other willing members of the collective as a free action.
(And doing empathic wound transfer to himself, of course.)
He can suck HP out of someone, but only by touch and it won't work on a collective member.
I think the design intent is to keep a vitalist from forcing enemies into the collective (via Unwilling Participant, which Nagbur doesn't have yet) and then sucking them dry, all from a safe distance.
Nagbur Damnstink
Whoa, hold please.
I think there's some confusion here. Maybe it's only mine. I'd presumed some bowls were filled with water and some with sand -- note Stinky's comment about Almalik's genius.
Based on the description, I figured he put water in the ones with evaporation lines and sand in the others, and that the combination was necessary. I took the spoilers as recounting a process, the statue starting to move as the water portion was completed, and then sliding the rest of the way clear when the sand phase was completed.
Almalik will have to weigh in on what he intended, I guess. Me, I'm okay with fighting if that's what it comes down to, but I don't want to post in error or if there's a retcon coming.
I gotta tell ya it was a weird feeling: I had a post all ready to go, with literal-minded Stinky demoting Almalik back to "stupid" for spouting nonsense, and then calling out to Fish for them to go get the shinies. I did a preview and the GM post came up and it was like, "Wait, what??"
GM Dinuci
Before the spoilers:
"Let's fill the pots with water; that should indicate the required water level for each bowl. Provided each bowl has a matching pot."
After the spoilers:
Almalik rubs his leg and then watches with some concern the entrance statue moving in his direction.
These two posts point in one direction. That is why the statue is now attacking you. Almalik may of course still choose to fill them with sand because he didn't say it with too many words what he was doing in the last post.
Will wait for his response on the matter. If it does end in a fight I wouldn't worry too much though. This might even have a better outcome ;)
GM Dinuci
The last two statues had no water level indication but you found two matching pots for those. The pots were knocked over and had sand left in them. So there was the choice to fill the bowls of the statues with sand or water from the pots. Since you filled the bowls with water you have started combat.
