I'm coming to a realization that I've created a character who has every reason to distrust the police, and I have left no room for Sense Motive. Is sad.

Personally I think that plan sounds flawless. The only way it could go wrong is if one of us had already decided to turn off her phone and dismantle it for parts.

Regarding combat expertise: Get a melee weapon, get TWF, use melee in off hand, pistol in main. Activare Combat Expertise since your full attack includes a melee weapon, missing with your melee attacks while hitting with the firearm.

Oh, and make the melee weapon a defending one as well, use it like a shield rather than a weapon.

And on that matter, someone as smart as Kavak should really be calling you guys.

Jetpacks and hoverboards, hmm... probably later, when a character could reasonably invent one. Considering whether or not what Pathfinder brings to the table would accelerate the tech race or not, and if so, by how far.

Well, I'd say the tech race would increase pace at least a bit. For one there's races that are just plain smarter than average, like elves, and ratfolk actually. As well as races that are known for mechanical accomplishments, like gnomes.

Plus, "advanced experimental technology" is a popular trope in modern settings. And it would be cool. Jetpacks for us mobility handicapped. There's my two cents anyway. The decision is yours to make.

I tried to! The GM response to "how much" was "here, have a free one". XD But Yelis probably has a burner phone back home.

Well, we've been operating under the assumption that history is more or less the same, so I was assuming roughly equal tech. (The biggest difference is that now diamond prices are not artificially inflated, because they have intrinsic value.) Hoverboard ~ magic carpet, so just use that as pricing?

Yeah, a bit pricey. For something that has a more achievable crafting price, there's a lesser version, or it could just require really expensive fuel.

Only ever played the Devil May Cry remake on the 360 and never finished it. Have heard about the weapon, though.

Sword with motor in it should be interesting, and I am certainly not averse to anything Devil May Cry related appearing in the game. I'll think about the statistics behind it.

Hmm. With the availability of modern firearms, do we have modern armor? They make bulletproof shirts, which seems like what Yelis would get for this sort of work eventually. (Discreet and flexible enough for casting.)

Technically not bullet proof. Bullet resistant is the more apropos word. If shirts were bullet proof, all policemen and soldiers would be covered head to toe in the fabric.

Well, bulletproof up through 9mm for the flexible option. It's not actually the cloth that's bullet proof. An example. I heard about in on NPR a while back- they actually shoot employees wearing it point blank.

Iron Man suit is Synthesist Summoner with the Inevitable option from Unchained.

Or the Armorist from Sheres of Power, or the Aegis from Dreamscarred Press(on the pfsrd!), or an Alchemist with flavorful reflavorings of discovories...

The list to make Iron Man is easy to make, but could get really long.

This Iron Man talk has me thinking about what kind of cyborg to become. Android style? Metal Gear Rising? Full metal alchemist style? (a couple of limbs replaced? Lots of choices to go with.
