GM "The Fox" |
I forgot to include the ghost's gaze attack. Since Ninya is the only one that has attacked him, I will rule that she is the only one to have looked him in the eyes. (I don't want to go back and retcon Tika, Manuk, Vorel, Pumpkin, and Zahra.)
@ Everyone: On your turn, you can try to avert your eyes from him, but there will still be a 50% chance that you look him in the eyes. OR, you can close your eyes, but you will be blinded until the start of your next turn (where you can again decide to keep your eyes closed or avert them).
gaze damage, Ninya: 2d10 ⇒ (8, 1) = 9
gaze Cha damage, Ninya: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Ouch!
Fort save, Ninya: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Galdron snarls, "You are fools if you look for peace from me!"
He steps back and casts a spell defensively.

An explosion of fire erupts in the center of the group.
fire damage: 9d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 5, 6, 1, 1, 2, 2) = 25 Wow. That was lucky for you guys.
Ref save, Ranar, haste: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 1 = 21
Ref save, Omar, haste: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10 :(

Ref save, Manuk, haste: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 = 28
Omar, Pumpkin, and Zahra take full damage. Ranar and Vorel take half damage, and Vorel resists some of it. Manuk has evasion and avoids all of the damage.
Please make sure I haven't missed any protections or resistances in here.

Averting eyes.
Omar cast Protection from Energy: Fire on himself as well.
Seeing how hurt everyone already is, Omar steps back a little bit and channels the power of Shelyn to heal his friends. Hopefully this will be enough to allow Pumpkin to survive!
Quick Selective Channel, omit Galdron and dead Fire Elemental: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 3) = 15 I don't think I needed to deselect them but just in case...
"You are truly the fool then. In life, you left your Sun quah in order to try and unite your tribes. In death you are now throwing that away to strike out at any who live?"
He then attempts to cast Prayer on the defensive.
Concentration: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28 Success!
"Explore, Cooperate, Report. That mantra unites us. Will our report to be that Galdron abandoned his life's work out of anger?"

I can't move Omar because of the Fireball overlay. Move him 5' Southwest please.

avert eyes, Omar, high=good: 1d100 ⇒ 54

Ranar didn't add his stars to his reroll, nor prayer. But he hit anyway because he has Precise Shot.

@The Fox - I have resist energy up as well (10 fire).
Yep. I had that in there. I shortened it to just resist fire. I missed it on the fireball, but Omar healed all of the damage anyway, so I let it go. I think everything is accounted for now.
Galdron would also be on fire due to the explosive discovery on adirect hit, no saving throw.
I wrote it in the post that he caught fire, but forgot to put it on the combat pad. Thanks. :)
GM "The Fox" |
For those characters who are on fire, you can spend a full-round action to put out the flames. Doing so requires a Reflex save. Dropping and rolling on the ground grants a +4 bonus to the save.

Is it possible to withdraw while prone and staying low? He cannot afford the attack of opportunity...
No. For a few reasons. (1) Standing provokes; (2) You cannot stand and withdraw (unless you can stand as a swift action); (3) Even if he was already standing, the elemental has reach—withdrawing only prevents you from provoking an AoO for moving out of the first space.
You can reconsider your actions later when you are home from work. :)

It is a Ride check, not Handle Animal. Also you forgot prayer. So it works. I would have used it for you on the charge, but it is an immediate action, so I don't like to spend those for other people.

Tika's first attack will drop the elemental, so I will redirect your other attacks to the ghost.

Ref, Manuk, prayer: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 1 = 11 He fails to do so.
Galdron becomes solemn, and with a wave of his hands dismisses the fire elementals. Proud and hot tears roll down his cheeks as the ghost explains, “In returning to my original self, I forgot who I had later become, and why I was right to do so.”
Galdron casts aside his short spear, and his armor passes through him to land on the ground with a thud. The ghost clutches at his chest and seems to pull the flames from his body into his heart as he closes his fist around it. Squeezing, he forms it into a glimmering red gem which he also tosses to the ground.
“It is not weapons nor armor which prevent peace, but succumbing to wrath. I see this now. I will not protect the Green Market, as others must find their own unity, unmotivated by fear.”
The Shoanti, now no longer smoldering and smoking, levitates above his sacred altar, salutes to you as though raising a spear, and then melds with the stone table. A few moments later, after the you collect what the ghost has left, the scene begins to waver and you return to the Green Market on the Material Plane.

Above is two rounds of action. Only after second action would Manuk get the additional save.
GM "The Fox" |
I'm going to hand-wave the putting out of fires and such. You can spend charges on your wands if you would normally do so after fights to heal your characters.
I will move on to the denouement and conclusion a bit later.
@ Zahra: Yeah, one of the criticisms I read about this scenario was exactly what you just said about peace and violence. Oh well, I still thought it was a fun scenario, and I found the last encounter to be really cool. How often do you get to fight on the Ethereal Plane?

GM "The Fox" |
When you return to the Material Plane, Zeeva Foxglove rushes over to you. "What happened? Where did you go?"
When she hears the story of Galdron, she is solemn. "Well, thank you, Pathfinders, for putting to rest both the Aspis Consortium's threats to my Green Market and the soul of this great Shoanti shaman."
In the weeks that follow, Zeeva has the shrine permanently unearthed and restored as a fountain in the center of the Green Market in honor of Galdron Greenheart, which pleases Telmayne Fire-Eyes and goes a long way toward ensuring the market and the South Shore district have peaceful relations with the Shoanti.
The Green Market continues to grant preternatural luck and business acumen to those plying their trade within its walls, but the spirit of Galdron Greenheart no longer punishes the sale of weapons, armor, and magic items. As such, the Green Market opens its doors to traders of all wares, bringing even larger profits to the community—and, of course, to Zeeva Foxglove.

While still in Korvosa, Omar makes a sketch of the market and the new shrine. He makes a few other sketches of people, including Galdron and Zeeva.
During the return voyage to Absalom, he carefully paints it. Faintly visible as a reflection in the waters of the fountain he has added a depiction of Galdron Greenhart looking out over the market. Miss Zeeva Foxglove can be seen greeting people in the background.
