Psst... Aspirants
"These refer to failed aspirants of the Starstone. If I remember correctly they are Demuren, Mellag, and Gobru respectively. Mayhaps our final destination is where their failures are remembered."

![]() |

"Is there a part of the wall here that refers to the Starstone Aspirants? I'm not very familiar with the Grand Lodge." Dissa is now even more confused.
"So, we were looking for a Pathfinder who referenced three other Pathfinders, and she had a wizard friend, who knew a Stone Mason and hid a clue with him, but now we need to find three Aspirants who failed the Starstone test? I am utterly perplexed." He looks to his fellow Pathfinders, and asks "Does anyone know where to go next?"

![]() |

"Thanks Barid," Bozmir was unsure if the rogue had actually said something or if the echoing voices in his head had merely taken his timbre. "The recording on the coin did say the chamber is behind an aspirant. If I may guess, Fimbrik figured out that the clue is hidden with Karina, meaning the aspirant we're looking for is Gobru. First time I hear that name and I'm sure no body would have been recovered, but I'm sure there's somewhere in the city that each attempt gets recorded."
Bozmir tries to recall if there is such a place K local: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Cayden's Hall? Even if it isn't we can grab a well-deserved drink to clear our minds :P

Lot of people don't know this, but Absolom actually immortalizes all of the people that have tried the Test of the Starstone. Three of them are immortalized (and worshiped) as the gods they became. The rest are held in a hall of failed aspirants where their theoretical portfolios and followers are also recorded. What a way to be remembered.

Bozmir recalls a place known as The Shrine of the Failed, near the Starstone Cathedral. The Shrine memorializes all of the people who tried, and failed, the Test of the Starstone.
As you arrive, you see a crowd gathered around the Cathedral. After asking around, you figure out that today, Sir Reinhart, a Mendevian crusader, is attempting the Test. Because of this, most of the guards and caretakers of the Shrine are focused on Reinhart's attempt.
It seems you have unrestricted access to The Shrine of the Failed.
This monumental chamber stretches eighty feet from end to end, with a ceiling suspended thirty feet from the floor by great pillars. Seven arched passages lead to humble rooms, each of which contains a polished stone altar dedicated to one of the failed aspirants who attempted the Test of the Starstone.
Each of the chambers along the sides contains a small stone altar to one of the failed aspirants. Each altar stands upon a raised dais and bears a small brass nameplate identifying the aspirant and the would-be-god’s areas of interest.
You find Gobru's alter at location E2f.

I kinda just want to watch Sir Reinhart's attempt.
Bozmir doesn't bother to sneak, there's enough ruckus outside to cover their movement and nothing to hide behind inside. He strides over to Gobru's tomb, noting down what info he can quickly discern on the failed aspirant.

Jeza asks that Barid check the area for any traps. Once Barid has had a chance to do so, he looks inside the door via the sla door sight. If it helps Jeza will 'lead' Barid past the illusionary barrier to allow him better access / perception of the area.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

![]() |

Jeza explains to the team about the tunnel. Says, "Um, Barid, can you get us past this door?"

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Barid shakes his head mournfully, "I'm afraid this door is a bit beyond my ability to open. There are no obvious cracks to exploit leverage and the lock is built too well for my simple tools to work on. I think the general has the right idea, we were told to check the nameplate."
Barid helps the general by pushing, pulling, and trying to slide the nameplate various directions.

![]() |

Jeza explains there is an illusion to the party, (+4 to save) and then proceeds to show that the wall isn't very wallish by poking 'through' it with his spear, and then arm. "Let us be on our way?" he asks, now that it is clear that the illusion is affecting his team.

![]() |

I don't think I got a Will save, I'll roll at the +4
will: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 4 = 25
"The illusory effect must be Fimbrik's work, as mentioned. Perhaps we need to write the word, not just say it. I didn't bring my scribing materials..."

![]() |

Dissa saunters over to the fake wall, pushes his Fauchard through the illusion to the door of doors, and says "Wiffle". He's very confident that Jeza has pointed him in the right direction.
He thinks to himself "Why do we even have a password if it doesn't open anything?"

![]() |

Barid pushes the nameplate to the side and finds a piece of chalk and a blackboard behind it. He quickly grabs the chalk and scribbles the word Wiffle on the board hoping it will do something.
Sorry, three days to get through this door is bugging me.

![]() |

Lol.
The door opens and leads to a dark tunnel. The dust lying in the cavern belies the thought that anyone has been here in some time.
Following the cavern to its natural end leads to a room. Several desks are arranged along the northern and eastern edges of this small stone alcove. Whereas the stonework leading to this chamber is rough, the walls in the alcove are polished. A single gem rests among the neatly filed papers on the desk, emitting a soft luminescence that brightens the small room.
The papers are written in an Azlanti dialect that you only recognize from areas of the Grand Lodge. But it turns out Eylysia was hiding knowledge from the Society! Now it will be up to other members of the Society to decipher all of the work here. You decide to go and report this to the Society rather than taking any of the paperwork with you. As you leave the chamber and are about to head back you hear something from the antechamber. "There they are! Remove them so we can take everything in the chamber they've opened!"

No pictures as it looked super messy. Just used letters for B = Brute, S = Swordsman, D = Debilitator, and N = Neophyte.
Dulomak and Kontha are up!
Debilitator, Brute
Bozmir
Barid
Jezakay
Swordsman
Dissa
Neophyte

Barid whispers to his group, "We need to focus on them one at a time. The General and Jezza are the most heavily armored and likely to be targeted because of that. I'll try to slip around the sides and disrupt any spellcasters in their group, Dulomak and Kontha can back me up. Bozmir can support where necessary. Sound good?"

![]() |

"Sure thing," Bozmir replies.
He shouts out, "You had better not disturb any property that doesn't belong to you! And harming us is an offence! Don't or you will get me so mad I might just RAAAARGH!"
He unleashes a primal and inspiring roar, starting his Raging Song.
No weapon drawn yet

After Raging Song is active, I presume.
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Rofl

Jeza prepares to move and attack with the team. He signals for Dissa to cover Bozmir's right side and for Dulomak/Kontha to take target D. He will move between Dissa/Dulomak. After nods of yes he will move to 2 spaces east of Bozmir and attack with his spear, accepting the song for the battle.
If there is disagreement, he will instead cast bless and follow Dissa, flanking the general, and pass on the song to enable casting.
GM may make rolls as required, 1d20 + 4 attack / 1d8 + 6 dmg (cold iron spear) / up to 3 aaos if triggered.

![]() |

Bozmir, as you step out of the altar area, you feel the debilitator giving you the "stink eye." -2 to attack rolls for 5 rounds.
Dissa and Jeza, can you move your icons to where you want to go? I will take your moves for you if you don't post by tomorrow evening.
P.S. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

![]() |

Done! But I thought the Swordsman was before Dissa.
Bozmir tries to figure out what is happening to him as he is struck by the effect.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

![]() |

Doh. Well, it's easier with all the PC's going at once anyway.
Bozmir. The ability is not a spell. I'm gonna judge that Knowledge (Arcana) might be more appropriate.
Jeza has to double move to get to his position so no standard to attack.
The swordsman scoffs at Bozmir and replies, "You will hand over all your items or else!" And then charges Kontha.
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18 hit
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Kontha is at 5 hp
"Do you yield," he says with a smile.
The neophyte yells to the debilitator, "Step back Philip!"
The debilitator nods and full withdraws east and north. Once the debilitator is clear, the neophyte moves south and sends a wave of negative energy that hits Kontha, Dissa, and Jeza. Will Save DC 10
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3 3 damage on failed save, 1 damage on successful save
The brute looks to press the advantage and 5 foot steps southeast to flank Kontha, swinging his greatclub.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 miss
All PCs are up!

![]() |

Barid rushes around the corner of the pillar he is behind and moves all the way over to the debilitator, "Looks like your friends are busy, let's dance, shall we?"
Double move to the square west of the debilitator

![]() |

Will Save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2 Dissa takes 3 damage.
He attacks the Swordsman "S" and pivots to threaten the Brute "B".
Fauchard Power Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Fauchard Damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
"I think you yield, if I'm not mistaken." Dissa scoffs at the swordsman, presumably incapacitated by his strike. That should keep Kontha out of a flank...

![]() |

Believing that - Philip - is the biggest threat here, Bozmir moves 30' to join Barid.
Bozmir goes first and I think the square north of D should be more advantageous for Barid now.
Bozmir is inspired by his own song and uses the momentum of his movement (not a charge) to stab right through the debilitator.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

![]() |

Good idea, Dulomak! Why don't you roll the AoO now, so if you can make one we have fewer delays?
Dissa may also get an AoO on the Neophyte "N" as he departed a threatened square.
Fauchard AoO Power Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Nope.

![]() |

Kontha will take a 5' step and bite at B now that he is flanked.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Dulomak will move up behind his dino and cast CLW
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
