Then she backs up a bit before the creature is let out.

Andor nods and pushes the button to release the creature.
The crystal plinth flashes with bright light briefly and its surface begins to ripple in an almost liquid-like fashion. Shortly afterwards, it disgorges the form trapped within it; a hunched, wizened female humanoid tumbling to the ground before the group. Its skin is dark, almost black, with mostly white eyes as the creature's gaze darts around the room to take in its surroundings. It scrabbles to its feet, wisps of aged rags dripping from its form and archaic looking bracelets jangling as the creature grasps the plinth with sharp-looking claws to steady itself. It utters a string of words similar to those used by the automated voice from the ship is frightened tones...
...before appearing to actually see the group standing before it. It's harsh gazes softens, just a little bit, as the creature switches to speaking Common with an unusually archaic accent.
"...You are not my captors. For that, and my release, I am grateful," the creature says guardedly as it tries to gauge the group's intention. "I take it that you are not in league with the Xill infesting the ship, then?"

Are you as evil as your kind usually is?" Andor asks.
"That's rather direct to ask a girl the first time you meet them," the night hag replies archly. "I'll be whatever you want, fox-man, if it gets me off this ship."
It would seem you are in our debt for the moment. Perhaps we can come to some sort of accommodation? What is your name?
The night hag visibly winces at the word 'debt,' avoiding any direct discussion on that subject. "You can call me Skarja."
Do you have any information that you can share with us? Anything that we should know?" he asks.
"Well, I been trapped for a couple centuries or so; most of what I can tell would be fairly limited," Skarja says with a shrug. "I only regained awareness when the helm shifted me from stasis in the hull up here. The ship uses living creatures as power sources for its various functions. It had been a slow leach so far for the last couple years...the jump from the Ethereal to your plane most recently almost did me in." Skarja sighs with a look at the floating cube above the plinth.
"It wasn't the Azlanti, of course. These bloody Xill commandeered the ship, thanks to their bloody plant they brought on board. It has some kind of...empathic...ability that gives them the power to control most of the helm's functions. Well, that as well as storing their victims they have been collecting to bring to their home world." Skarja scratches her chin thoughtfully. "I think they gathered a large harvest during this visit of theirs to your plane. They should all be in the plant's taproot in the hold," the hag says as she points a claw at the secret door that Andor opened initially from the plinth. The doorway contains a set of crystal stairs that descends downwards.
"You all seem like the 'heroic' type. Maybe you can save those poor souls from their fate?" Skarja asks while she lifts a cunning eyebrow. She lifts one of clawed hands to her forehead in a mock swooning motion. "Alas, I am so drained from powering the ship. If only someone would help them?" she muses with a sly side glance at the group.

"What makes you think I don't have one?" Skarja asks in return with a slyly lifted eyebrow, not actually answering the question. "In either event, my way back is through the Ethereal; I'm not walking out on the deck just to be killed by some harborman who thinks he's saving the city or something. This plant of theirs extends into both of our planes, its tendrils in the Ethereal will snatch me the moment I try to ascend up to the main deck." She eyes the group suggestively. "That is, unless you take care of those terrible xill for me. Do some light pruning, perhaps?"

Before we agree to anything, how did one as powerful as you get trapped? Also what should we know about zis plant? It clearly is dangerous.
| GM Irish202 |
Before we agree to anything, how did one as powerful as you get trapped?
"Have you ever been at the tail end of a planar binding spell, dearie? One moment your just minding your own business, wandering the markets looking for a soul or two, the next you find yourself dragged across the planes just to be shoved into a crystal!" Skarja twists a greasy strand of her black hair with irritation using one of her claws. "Incredibly rude thing to do, if I must say so myself. I mean, there was a 'Buy One, Get One Half Off' sale! Its been centuries, I wonder if they'll honor expired coupons..."
Also what should we know about zis plant? It clearly is dangerous.
Skarja smiles widely, revealing a row of pointed teeth. "Don't let it eat you, dearie. They store their victims inside it, after all. Avoid the tendrils, perhaps?"
Awww... how can we trust you?
"Here's the secret, dearie," Skarja whispers at Brallenera as she leans close. "Never trust a hag, we're a little too cunning for most to handle," she says with a conspiratorial wink. She returns to a more neutral position, continuing at a more regular tone; "...unless you would like to make a deal, dearie. We are incredibly reliable business partners. Hags alway provide excellent service guarantees for soul-based transactions, after all. 'Soul Today, Gone Tomorrow' I always say..."
Tell us what we must know first.
"Everything I just described is about most of what you should need to know, dearie. The only other thing you might want to avoid is using the helm controls incorrectly," she says with a look towards the crystal plinth. "It has security protocols that will trigger if you do. I think I heard a Xill get fried by a laser or something while I was in there."

"Well, aren't you the sly one dearie!" Skarja says as she grins a slight smile of pointed teeth. "I do have some spending money left that I was using for my shopping before I was so rudely abducted. Could give you those." She ruffles through a ratty belt pouch to produce several valuable looking gemstones. "I would consider this sufficient to balance out the deal, unless...." her words trail off suggestively as her gaze falls upon the leashed Eryzule. The narrow stairwell opens out into the ship’s main cargo hold, a massive split-level affair with the upper portion ten feet above accessed by a wide stair. The entire area looks like a giant botanical garden. A massive plant, milky-white and translucent, grows atop the upper hold area and curls about the entire chamber with a forest of fronds, tendrils, and clinging vines. The shapes of multi-armed humanoids can be seen moving about its thick growth of vines and tendrils that appear to grow into the very bulkheads. A number of strangely shaped flowers of deep violet bloom among this tangle, and at the top of the hold stairs, a great gnarled root crown stands like the trunk of a hoary old tree, a crease in its side opened wide like a dragon’s maw. Behind it stretches a winding taproot that disappears toward the bow of the ship, as large around as a wagon. Clearly discernable within this taproot are the huddled forms of unmoving humanoids.
Arrayed around the room is a multitude of xill, apparently making their last stand around the plant. In the back next to the taproot is a xill adorned with vestments of some kind, appearing to be tending the plant itself. It points at the Pathfinders as they descend the stairs with a chitter, causing its fellow xill to prepare for battle!
The entire area in the chamber is difficult terrain due to the ethereal foilage, as well as granting concealment (but does not block line of sight) to any in the area. Casual observation notices that the xill appear unimpeded by the foilage, for some reason. Map updated.

The elemental's slam attack doesn't seem to make a dent in the thick bark of the taproot! The flames from its attack also seem to fail to alight on the plant material, the sparks guttering out shortly after contact.
The vested xill raps the taproot again and continues to point at Brallenera, the foilage around her once again writhing in useless attempts to get past the dwarf's defenses. Tereze gets the sense that the vested xill's actions do not seem magical or spell-like in nature, and saves the use of her dispel magic for later.
The rest of the xill adjust throughout the room, three each attempting to bite both Andor and Brallenera! Andor easily parries the attack made by the orange xill (the others missing entirely), finally dealing a return blow that pierces through the concealing foilage. The brown Xill manages to land a nip on Brallenera, just enough damage getting through the dwarf's defenses to potentially paralyze her! The yellow xill fires two arrows, one somehow managing to strike Brallenera but failing to actually do any damage at all. DC 16 Fort for Brallenera to avoid 1d4 ⇒ 2 hours of paralysis.

Alas for the brown Xill, Brallenera is too caught up in her battlerage to feel the paralysis this time.
And she is all in for some swift and bloody retribution...
I don't think we are Hasted, the spell was in discussion but not cast, if my memory serves well, and a fireball was favored

you are hasted. I cast Haste the first round and Fireball the second.
Another fireball on it's way. I can't get all the Xill without including Andor and Brallenera, so I will miss pink and orange. red grid on the map shows the radius.
Seems like that worked, so let's try it again.
