Locke hastily, and narrowly, dodges a few arrows.
"All of you ganging up on one young woman, how low you are."
She sees the fireball explode between the guards, *soft whistle*
A spicy explosion.
Locke notches an arrow at whatever guard stands, after the fireball and Brallenera have their effect.

Just as Andor shouts this, Melisande's fireball lazily flies past him and literally incinerates every single guard to a charred crisp. The paralyzed-and-staggered guard boss is fried almost to ashes in the same blast.
Even if the other guards made their save, the half damage would still kill them XD

Oh no. I hope zey were all snake worshipers and not just hired protection. Tereze says sadly seeing the corpses.
Then she moves up waiting for the others to search and be ready to go inside.
Andor Katsu
|
Andor is clearly surprised when all of the guards burst into flames.
"Wha ... what have you done?!?" he asks incredulously.
Melisande Shahrizai Courcel
|
Melisande sighs. They looked cold. You know the old adage, right? Give a man a fire and keep him warm for the night, set him on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life? She looks around at the mass of charred corpses. That was much more effective than I expected. I wonder what will happen once I Empower it...
Andor Katsu
|
Andor looks at with a frown.
“You! Wonder!? Are you serious?! These guys were just doing their jobs!!“ Andor says calmly.
“You said that my impression of your demonic patron is wrong but your actions betray you!! I’ll continue to cooperate but you just crossed a line!!“
Tereze Amnell
|
Tereze looks at Melisande and says in a shocked voice.
Zat is not remotely close to being funny. Zey were people not monsters!
Spackle McGapfiller
|
The normally happy-go-lucky gnome sits gobsmacked, color draining from his face.. "Ain't never seen such...death afore now." He looks at the aasimar wide-eyed. "S'lotta power lass. Maybe too much."
Brallenera Thalkham
|
Awww, she made an error, and under-estimated the power of her fireball, in the heat of the action, pun intended. She just said it. I suppose it's harder to pull your punch with magic than with an axe. Maybe if she says sorry, or get spanked for her action, you will feel better Andor?
Locke "Firebug" Arkham
|
With all the berating the others are giving, Locke stays silent on the matter. She'd be kind of hypocritical, slightly, if she'd speak about catching people in an explosion of fire, given she uses fiery explosives herself.
Sure, she got a nickname for enjoying to use fiery explosives, just not with the creepy sentiment afterwards.
Spackle McGapfiller
|
Spackle shakes his head. "Yer missing the point boyo. Tha forces o' nature bein' manipulated, maybe no one should have access ta that kinda power. What's that ole sayin'? Power c'rupts, 'n absolute power c'rupts absolutely. Ah'm just sayin' that unlockin' arcane energy like that is dangerous 'n maybe no one, no mortal should be playin' with it. Ifin someone who could do that was ta lose their temper, who could stop 'em? They ken burn down a town o' villagers pretty as ya please by wigglin' a few fingers. Ifin you ain't frightened by that, Ah'm not sure what would make ya lose a wink o' sleep."
Melisande Shahrizai Courcel
|
Melisande looks at Andor. They were attacking us with lethal force. Why would we not respond in kind?[b] She shakes her head. [b]Does it make them any less dead if they are killed with a sword or with a spell? I am not indiscriminate with the destruction I mete out. I do not do so randomly, as you saw just now as we waited for the innocent slaves to clear out of the field of battle. She pauses for a moment. While it may be unfortunate that we have none left to question, what guarantees do you have that you would be able to extract information from them, or if they even had any to relate? She smiles slightly. Or is it my macabre humor that you object to? We are surrounded by death whenever we go on these missions for the society. If you can't see the absurdity of an assertion of a righteous position from someone constantly slaughtering enemies, then I have serious doubts about your sanity. She looks over the scorched earth. I won't apologize for defending myself or my companions from attack.
Spackle McGapfiller

"Rely on yer logic circles 'n just'ficashuns all ya want. Ah've said me piece. It's clear whatever taints yer blood has convinced ya yer on the side of the angels. We ain't got the time 'n this ain't the place. Let's just get ta goin'. Ain't nuthin' in this confab but bitterness n' frustration. Best ta play nice 'n let it lie. Ah kin be horrified on me own time."
Just to be clear, Spackle has a problem, not the player. Big booms are fine with me and a fun part of the game, especially with the right build.
Locke "Firebug" Arkham
|
Locke, seeing the inter-party discussion heat up, quietly moves towards Tereze.
"And some said -i- enjoyed tossing fire.
I would not like to be on the receiving end of one such fireball."
Then aimed at the general group.
"Shall we move? For all we know, the fleeing of those slave laborers could have drawn unwanted attention towards our location."
Brallenera Thalkham
|
Aww, I must say I agree with the lass on that point: she waited until the slaves were far and safe before unleashing her fiery destruction. She seemed genuinely surprised about the power of her own spell, maybe in another occasion it would have fizzled. And I'm sure she wouldn't use that kind of magic on an innocent village. Let's stop arguing and move.
Andor Katsu
|
Andor turns to Spackle, Locke and Brallenera.
"Your arguments make sense. Melisande did wait until the slaves were out of danger. Well, I will try to digest that."
Andor then looks at Melisande and shakes his head.
"I do not need your apology. Seems like we have a different moral compass and you might be fine ... but I am not. But that seems to be more my problem and not yours."
| GM Irish202 |
"Shall we move? For all we know, the fleeing of those slave laborers could have drawn unwanted attention towards our location."
The previous "When Ready to Enter Structure" spoiler is now no longer valid, and is replaced by the following updated description:
Piles of excavated earth litter the ground. A vast chasm, a jagged wound into the plateau, reveals a long shaft that drops into the pillar’s core. In the middle of the open room, a rickety scaffold clings against the chasm’s edge winding its way down into darkness. A rail system runs atop the scaffold and mine carts wait to descend into unknown depths. Lanterns swing from high beams creating shadows that dance admist the loose dirt. Two armed guards stand next to a row of carts at the start of the rail system with heavy maces drawn, with the sounds screeching metal of a cart moving along the rails echoing off the edges of the chasm behind them deep in the distance.

Both Andor and Brallenera stride forward, landing their strikes on a guard. The enemy takes the blow, still standing afterwards!

Aww, I understand that, because we CAN kill someone, we don't HAVE TO kill him. Might isn't right. But those aren't normal thugs. Those are working with and for slavers. And slavery is very wrong, in my own blue eyes. So I'll bear no shame in killing a slaver that attack me, nor in sparing the life of one surrendering. And if a slaver is genuinely willing to amend, I'm all for it. No job description should include making the life of another being a time of pain and anguish, Andor. That's evil too, seeing evil happening and doin" nothin". Worse if you get paid for that.Gold tainted by the blood and cries of slaves? Only duergars and fallen dwarves love that gold. These guards could have say "no" to their masters and find another job.
She walks toward Melisande, and pats her .. backside. Thrice.

If you want to be the executioners here … I will not judge you! But I will not partake and will guide my weapon the way that I think is necessary!“ Andor says.
