"The big guy huh..and who might that be?"
1d20 ⇒ 4
As you are talking to the men, trying to bluff them into believing you belong here the eyes of the statue behind you suddenly glow softly with red light and it begins to scream
The 2 men, who's nerves were already frayed blame you for awakening the statue and attack.
"You did this! You summoned what ever rat demon lives in here!"
I've moved you guys a bit closer, since shouting across the tunnel didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. For those map impaired, I've put you in two groups, Jenya, Evad and Therbin on the north side, Haro, Woonsul and Mark on the south side (both enemies start roughly on the south side) Jenya is 25ft away from her closest target when we start initiative and in front of the line so able to move forward and/or fire without cover
Init Jenya: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Init Evad: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Init Haro: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Init Mark Shadowlord: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Init Therbin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Init Woonsul: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Init Maraxite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Init Pellius: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Init ?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
One of the men grips his staff in 2 hands and charges forward to try to hit Haro
To hit Haro flatfooted AC: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
but Haro is easily able to dodge the wild staff swing
Map update, closest target is now 10ft away from Jenya, engaged in combat/no cover..the other one is 35ft away, no cover

Staff wielding men
Haro はろ |
as Haro comes up from his dodge, he whirls his staff around and swings twice at this foolish man. I am 2nd from last in the Init, so just think of what i do now, as what i do then.
Flurry Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 121d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Flurry Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Haro kons. "Must hold Honor. Must ready fight." Haro's common might improve throughout the game.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Evad Alacar |
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Evad moves forward 15 feet, then diagonally (forward to his right) into the water.
swim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
He then attacks the other sewer dweller.
unarmed strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Evad Alacar |
Evad's blow really catches his foe.
confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
As he pummels the opponent he notices something move in the background, it looks like some small lean little bat-eared horror displaying a mouth full of needle-like teeth and glowing, orange eyes tries to sneak out from the tunnel pipe to behind the statue.
He calls out what he sees to the others.
Jenya Poole |
Seriously! Jenya is the best talker of this group? Maybe we should go murderhobo on everyone then :)
Hey, smart guys. There's some tiny abomination that followed YOU and activated the shrine. Stop fighting us and help us stop that thing!
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Not taking my turn yet, if they respond favourably Jenya won't shoot them. If they don't, well, it'll be shooting time.
Therbin Warrak |
Seeing the man attack Haro, Therbin points his finger at the man while speaking a few words and a globe of acid flys at him.
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 2 into melee but no cover.
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Haro fights back against his attacker, but only one blow manages to get past the human's defenses
Mark - already smelly from being in the sewer water before - enters the water again and fires his bow..but is unable to hit with an arrow
Evad moves past Mark into the sewage and with an impressive blow is able to knock the staff wielding human out of the combat, he topples over and you can hear the sound as his skull hits the stone floor
The remaining man doesn't seem inclined to believe Jenya that there is something standing behind him
Her shout does how ever bring out a tiny creature from behind the pillar that grins evilly at you wielding a tiny crossbow which it fires at Jenya
Since you didn't roll perception yourself, rolling it now to see if you are flatfooted against it's attack
Perception Jenya: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
To hit AC Jenya: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
but seeing the creature move Jenya is easily able to sidestep the bolt as it flies toward her.
Therbin fires some summoned magical acid at the second man, but it fails to hit him as he easily steps to the side

BEHIND YOU! Jenya roars and rushes forward 25 feet to get within 20 feet of the little rat thing and shoots it.
Point Blank shot on touch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Jenya rushes forward and fires her pistol point blank into the tiny creature, her bullet hits it right between it's eyes and just as you think it will smash it's skull apart you notice that it has some real though hide covering it's bones (Damage reduction)
The other man seeing Jenya rush toward him and seemingly fire a gun in his direction rushes towards her and tries to slam his staff down on top of her head
To hit Jenya AC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
but Jenya is easily able to side step the staff as it whirls towards her

mark moves past his ally to get a better shot at the man engaged with jenna. -2 for firing into melee.

Haro はろ |
after listening to Janya and seeing her shot at something. Haro takes a second to look again. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Still seeing nothing he runs up 25 feet and jumps across the water to land behind the man holding the staff, acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 and says "Weapon you drop. No drop Haro mad"
Intimidate: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Sure.. I can crit something that i have negative points in. But when it comes to something that matters, my dice hate me.
Therbin Warrak |
Therbin moves a little closer while reciting a spell which he casts at the human.
Cast daze. Will save negates DC 13.
Jenya Poole |
You are one dumb tomb raider Jenya snarls at the staff wielder You are outnumbered and surrounded. Stand Down or you will die like your friend did. then to Evad she says. You saw that evil little thing right? Block that tunnel to keep it from escaping!
Evad Alacar |
Evad runs forward next to the pipe in an attempt to cut off the bat creature should it choose to flee.
I will move diagonally to my right out of the water then forward to just behind the pipe across from the other guy. Then ready an action should the creature move into a square I threaten I will unarmed strike it
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Mark fires an arrow at the man, hitting him in the side
@Mark, just wondering..how do you get a -2 for firing into melee? Normal penalty is -4
Haro intimidates the man (you can intimidate someone as a standard action..but that's just to demoralize him...getting him to do something actually takes a long time) and he seems impressed by Haro's statement that Haro will get mad..he's unsure if he would like to see Haro when he's mad.
Therbin casts a spell
Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
but the man seems less impressed by that then he does of Haro
Evad moves closer and readies in case the man comes closer to him
Woonsul summons a thick green vine which manages to disarm the man of his staff
Jenya can fire at the rat thing - with cover (all though you might want to take a step away from the human in front of you first. Feel free to still take your actions this round, but since it's been a day..moving on
The human, now without his staff draws his dagger and tries to stab Jenya (stepping up towards in case she moved away last round)
To hit Jenya AC: 1d20 + 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 2 + 2 = 12
but he's clearly too intimidated by Haro to be able to focus on his attack
The ratfaced thing starts to cast a spell and disappears from sight

Haro is a little conflicted. The man did drop his weapon, but he pulled out another one. "You drop weapon. You get new weapon... Haro has to get mad." Haro gets mad at the man and lashes out with his staff in two quick blows.

Mark will just ready an attack for when the rat thing comes back into view, if it comes back into view.
attack: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (15) = 20
dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 1 piercing. Oh, no it better not come out of hiding, because that probably is a hit and 1 whole point of damage.
Evad Alacar |
And since it has DR...
Therbin Warrak |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 lol, traded wasting 20's with you Revvy.
Assuming Haro's attack takes care of the other human:
"It looked like he used dimension door, which is similar to teleport. He probably went back to where he came from at the other end of that pipe. Can we fit through it or find another way? Look for secret doors," Therbin tells his fellow adventurers.
If he's still standing I'll cast acid splash then do the previous after he's down."
Acid splash (ranged touch attack): 1d20 + 4 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 - 4 = -1
Revvy Bitterleaf |
@Jenya.yeah, like I said you could take your action from last turn if you wanted...but it's not likely to matter anymore now
Haro in a flurry of attacks is able to take out the intimated man dropping him unconscious on the floor.
Everyone get's ready in case the ratfaced creature comes back (either by preparing to attack or hiding) ..but after a while it becomes clear that it's not coming back.
Both humans had a quarterstaff and a dagger with them.
(In case you plan to talk to them..they are pretty unconscious -..one of them is still bleeding - and it will take some time for them to be able to answer any questions unless you heal them)
The pipe is big enough for a human to crawl through (as you've seen when the 2 humans crawled out of it). The statue is nothing special - all though the eyes will keep glowing for about an hour - but there are some scratches around it if you take a closer look around
One Knowledge (local check, result will determine how many (if any) of the spoilers you can look at)
What are your plans now?
Haro はろ |
Haro looks at his feathered friend. "I see not thing speak you of. Will follow."
Evad Alacar |
"I would like to investigate what's down the pipes; but what do our instructions say to do next? These sewers are proving to be quite dangerous, I think we should find that vault, recover the item we've been sent to find, and get out of here as quickly as possible."
Jenya Poole |
Jenya refrains from kicking the idiot adventurer. Whatever that thing was doing I don't like it. It was a magic user and those statues look like bad news. I think the other way was a dead end so this is the only way to go forward right? What does the map say.
Therbin Warrak |
"I think the directions led us down this corridor. Where do they say to go next? Through the pipe?" Therbin says as he moves into the area by the statue and searches for secret doors.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Haro はろ |
Haro starts to look for a way through the pipe. perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26Oh, sure now with the perception rolls.
"Passage?" he says as he points to a place.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
The instructions you were giving seem to indicate you need to go through the pipe
Since Jenya asked if you should wake up the humans to ask them what's behind the pipe I'll give you some time to decide if you want to do so..if you don't want to heal one and interrogate him, just state that you'll enter the pipe and I'll describe what happens when you do. If you do wake one up, apply healing and roll diplomacy/intimidate
Evad Alacar |
I'm okay with pushing on into the unknown. But will be glad to role a couple Heal checks to stabilize these guys and heal them so we can interrogate them. What's everyone think?
Evad Alacar |
As Haro and Mark head down the tunnel Evad quickly says a prayer to Gozreh before attempting to stabilize the dying men.
Evad will perform Heal skill checks First Aid to stabilize them.
Heal on Maraxite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Heal on Pellius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Evad Alacar |
One of the men's injuries seem more grievous than the others, Evad is not sure he can save him. Not wanting to get separated from the others. He heads for the tunnel.
"Great Gozreh, your will, the wind, the waves, you will dictate whether they live or die"
With that he leaves the men and heads into the tunnel.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Following the directions given you move through the pipe and down the sewers, one exit is a dead end so you go around the corner to find;
Fallen rubble from an earlier excavation clogs the channel, slowing the water flow and accumulating a mass of sewage on one side. A thick carpet of moss and fungus—clearly representing a wide variety of green, blue, and ochre-colored specimens—sprawls across the top of the debris and hangs from the ceiling, with several larger mounds of fungus clinging to the walls or stemming from the hole to the east.
Wispy blue tendrils descend from the ceiling and almost touch the water, creating a thin, eerie curtain of plant matter.
Haro はろ |
Haro looks around the new section of the sewers. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
He looks around excited and says. "Smelly river I have found." he looks down at the river then to his fellow pathfinders, "Water drink, not wise." with that he continues to walk forward.
