Sidney jabs with his glaive after stepping back.

Aaziroth convulses from the shock of negative energy from the enemy caster. Feeling quite weak and hoping his companions can finish her off, he withdraws from the fight before he passes out. Once in the hallway, he tries to stop the bleeding.

Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Scarab Sages

Senjin moves after the and tries to kick her once more, but his foot bounces of the though bones surrounding her body

The eagle attacks in another flurry of attacks before backing of a bit to create room for the others, but it's natural attack can't over come the bone either (no attack hits her AC) while Valadil hits her with a magic missile

Havern swings his sword through the air while he summons Silvina to his side

Sidney's glaive jab just barely misses the top of the hobgoblins head (doesn't hit AC)

Aaziroth bleeds a bit out of his pores before he retreats out of the room I can't remember if you started next to the caster or not..if you did in order to not provoke an attack you need to do a full round withdraw and you can't use heal. If you weren't adjacent you can just move and heal yourself..I'll work with the assumption that you did the heal for now

Waman makes himself seem like a difficult to hit target (full defense)

The hobgoblin starts to cast another spell
Concentration: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Spellcraft DC 17:
Another inflict light wounds

but being almost surrounded makes it hard for her to concentrate and she can't manage the spell to work like intended

The eagle continues to flurry at the hobgoblin caster.

But aside from being a distraction, it can't land a blow. Frustrated with its ability to hunt evil on the material plane, it vanishes back to Celestia in search of Celestial rabbits.

Interesting question, do celestial creatures eat each other? I'm sure fiendish ones do.

"I shouldn't have wasted that Grease spell on the swordgoblin." mutters Valandil to himself as he tries to pour more acid on the goblin from afar.

ranged touch into melee through cover: 1d20 + 4 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 4 - 4 = 8
It sizzles against the wall.

I was adjacent to her and don't want to provoke an aoo, so I just withdrew last round. In that case, if you will allow me, instead of using heal, I'll pull out and use my wand of CLW. If not, I'll use wand next round.

Having moved out of the hobgoblin's reach, Aaziroth retrieves his wand and heals himself.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Sidney jabs again not hitting anything.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 121d10 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

The Exchange

M Halfing Medium 3

Havern and Silvina attack in tandem, their movements perfectly in synch.

longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

As Silvina strikes low to distract the creature, Havern fakes a blow with his shield at the creature's torso, and at the last moment pivots to strike high from the opposite direction with his blade, catching the creature off guard.

Senjin swings again, frustrated at his continual lack of success.

Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Scarab Sages

The eagle Valadil summoned attacks one last time, but all of it's attacks fail to find a weak spot on the hobgoblins armor before it returns home to hunt (for sport, not food..they don't need to eat..and I guess celestial bunnies will just be let go once caught and the circle continues)

As Valadil hurls some more acid at the wall to keep the caster off balance

@Aaziroth, casting the cure now is not a problem, just remember that you have another round of bleed damage in that case (since you bleed out at the start of your turn), but the bleeding stops after the heal

The combined attacks of Sidney, Havern and Silvinia and Senjin ,even though they are quite impressive are not enough to damage the hobgoblin

Waman keeps watch outside to make sure no reinforcement show up

Grinning evilly at clearly been blessed by her god as she keeps getting missed the caster tries another spell

Concentration: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

but it seems her overconfidence isn't rewarded as she fails to get another spell of.

You can all five foot step back and then it'll have to come to us, and we can flank, or I can keep dropping acid on it until it eventually dissolves. Heck someone else may have a missile weapon.

Scarab Sages

@Senjin, due to how pbp works you either sometimes get an advantage to knowing what roll you are aiding on...or we get some really slow games ..so in order to keep a nicely paced game I'm fine with your aiding Sidney

While Senjin sets up an distraction Sidney manages to slice through some of the bones drawing blood.

Havern and Silvina put in a good attempt, but don't manage to hit

Valandil throws some more acid at the caster to keep her distracted but doesn't manage to hit as he tries his companions to step away from the caster

Agreed, the greatest weakness of the arcane arts is that it takes a moment to gather oneself to channel the magic required. In the crucible of combat, one moment is all it takes to lose your life.

Longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

So saying, Havern ducks below a clumsy swing, and seeing the opportunity, leaps forward and drives his sword up and under the goblinoids arm. As she coughs blood onto his face, Silvina leaps over Havern, seizing the creatures other arm in her fangs and tearing out a great hunk of flesh.

Confirmation Rolls

Longsword crit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Bite crit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Bite trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Scarab Sages

Bloodied Senjin tries to take distract the caster so that Sidney will be a better able to take a swing at her..but he ends up just stumbling back without distracting her too much.

Aaziroth having healed enough to get back into the fray isn't able to land a blow that can pierce the hobgoblin's bone armor either.

But the combined might of Havern and Silvina is more then enough to tear the hobgoblin caster to the ground and into pieces.

Out of combat

as you search the corpse..or rather the pieces you find:

scroll of bane, scroll of lesser restoration, scrolls of cure moderate wounds (2), wand of inflict light wounds (19 charges); masterwork light wooden shield, masterwork morningstar, 8 onyx gems (each worth 25 gp), silver unholy symbol of Urgathoa, spell component pouch, 99 gp

As you search the room you also come across some herbs which Valadil identifies as having various uses during rituals..which look valuable (300 gp)

(If anyone wants to do something please feel free to do so. I'll post the conclusion and wrap up somewhere tomorrow. Please head over to the discussion tab and roll a dayjob check if you have any)

Grand Lodge

Valandil checks the various items to see if there are any other bits of magic in the area.

Scarab Sages

Other then some of the items carried by the hobgoblin caster (listed above) nothing else radiates magic.

After exploring the cave once more to make sure you didn't miss anything you head back outside and make your way to where you left the caravan. You notice there has been a struggle with some sort of predator, but due to you escorting them to a defensible position they were able to find of the creature and are all safe and unharmed.

You continue the rest of the journey and it proceeds smoothly
and the caravan reaches Druma safely.

With The hobgoblin caster defeated, you have managed to eliminate
at least one of Isger’s numerous internal threats. Soon thereafter, the Sczarni begin to move goods, people, and secrets through the Chitterwood with renewed fervor.

(The Sczarni and the Chitterwood goblinoids deal with any remaining undead that Telda may have let loose.)
