„We ... we cannot just ... attack them, can we? Based on what ... authority?“ she silently says more to herself and then falls silent.

The gang members notice you, and tough guys to the end they demand, "Drop all your gear, hand over your money, and go back the way you came or else." One of them moves to the platform in the middle of the sewer.
Valtyra Braga |
"You do realize that please works so much better than or else?" Valtyra shakes her head as she speaks. "Granted we are not going to hand over our gear and money to you. Now I suggest you stand aside and perhaps we will choose to forget your little "operation" here after we leave."

I'm fine with Pai's current position on the map.

GM_CariMac |
The look confused at Azora's comment about a Liege. "What's a Liege? The one at the back sighs, "Now you've done it. You didn't listen. We don't like it when you don't listen." They attack. The red Wryven takes a step forward, and flicks his spiked chain at Ech'Tan. He misses terribly, and almost falls into the water.

Pai raises both hands above her head. Suddenly, lightening begins crackling loudly all around her, drawing in towards her from about a 20' radius in all directions. (It does not harm anyone nearby, though they may feel a temporary surge of static electricity.) After a moment, she casts out her right hand, aiming a blast of electricity at the man at the back (green square).
Electric Blast (vs. Touch AC): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 71d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Aw, man.
Azora |
Drat, that sounded so cool!
The ifrit feels her ire build at being rebuffed by these sewer rats. Over years of practice, the oracle has learned to stoke that inner flame until it manifests beyond her body. Her eyes briefly glow like twin candles and a hot wave gently emanates from her chest. The wave of rage hits her allies, emboldening their strikes.
Casting Bless. Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.
She then jumps to the middle platform and brandishes her longspear.

Hello everybody, I might not be able to post for the next 36 hours so here is my action after the Wyverns have attacked so you do not need to wait for me.
Sorry for the length of the post. This is also because this is the first time I am using the 'Opportune Parry' ability so I am writing everything in detail.
Setare is one of the last to act as she is getting a grip on herself after the Wyverns attack. But suddenly she realizes the danger - she moves quickly and tries to tumble behind the thug that is standing in front of Ech'Tan.
Acrobatics check to move through thug's space (DC is CMD+5): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Acrobatics check to avoid AoO of thug if she was able to move through his space (DC is CMD): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Setare draws her weapon as a free action during the move action. If Setare makes the tumble check to the other side she attacks the Wyvern and tries to do to non-lethal damage with her Rapier.
Rapier attack roll for non-lethal damage (+4 dex, +1 BAB, +1 Weapon Focus -4 non-lethal, +2 flank): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage roll (+4 dex from Fencing Grace Feat): 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
If this is a crit (18-20/x2) then:
Rapier crit confirm roll as above: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Crit Damage roll: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
"Please surrender everybody ... please ..." Setare pleads.
--- OPPORTUNE PARRY
If Setare is attacked by a Wyvern, e.g. because of an AoO or regular attack against her she will try to 'Opportune Parry' by expending the use of her AoO (please see her profile for details on this Swashnuckler ability):
Rapier attack roll (+4 dex, +1 BAB, +1 Weapon Focus): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
GM_CariMac |
Ech'Tan tries to acrobatics past the enemy but doesn't manage to. The Red Wryven takes his attack of opportunity. This time it his 4 DMG.
Azora Casts bless on the party, and then nimbly moves to the pillar in front of her. Pai gathers electricity in an awesome show, but her actual attack misses her target and flies harmlessly past.
The Red Wyrven takes a step back and flicks out with his chain again. This time at Azora. The alchemist throws an alchemist fire at Azora as well. It misses and splashes harmlessly into the water next to her.

Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Pai Shecks |
Huffing at her previous failed attempt, Pai takes a five foot step to her right and again prepares to blast the thug in back with electricity. She gathers power as before, then lets out a squeaky grunt as she releases the pent up, crackling energy.
Electric Blast (vs. Touch AC): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Yeah!
Valtyra Braga |
Valtyra looks over the situation and seeing that their foes appear to be staying back chants a few arcane words before a flash of light erupts right in the eyes of the closest Steel Wyrven (red).
Valtyra casts Flare (DC 17 Fortitude Save or be Dazzled for 1 minute).
GM_CariMac |
Red Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Red manages to shake off Valtrya's spell. Setare manages to tumble past the red thug avoiding him handily, and stabbing him in the back. He drops from the damage.
Pai sends another bolt of electricity at the achemist. This time it hits. 7 DMG Azora misses with her attack.

Before I leave today quick post on what she does on her turn. ;-)
"You are injuring my friends ... I ... I cannot allow that! I am sorry ..."
Setare's view changes to a stern impression and she moves to the Wyvern throughing alchemist fire and attacks him with her Rapier to really injure.

Ech'Tan moves up and attacks the alchemist. The alchemist falls.
The thug in yellow tries to jump back over to the walkway. He starts to move toward Pai. He doesn't look like he's about to quit fighting.

Seeing that she cannot reach the other opponent, she makes a fast move and takes out her crossbow. She aims and shoots.
Pai Shecks |
Once she realizes that the thug is coming towards her, Pai's expression jolts from determination to fear. Skipping the theatrical gathering of power, Pai quickly lets out a blast of electricity at the remaining thug.
"Aah! Go away!"
Electric blast: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
This time she didn't gather power b/c he is within the normal 30' range. She did for the other shots so she could use her Extended Range infusion (up to 120').

The combined might of the Pathfinders drops the last enemy with a thud.
Combat Over
Beside the workbench is a rack of alchemical substances containing 2 Acid flasks, 3 alchemist’s fire, 2 smokesticks, 1 tanglefoot bags, 2 thunderstones, and 4 vials of filth fever tonic. Sitting open on the workbench is a large tome titled Toxins and Countermeasures, written by Giacomo d’Enzinas. The alchemical materials on the workbench constitute an alchemist’s lab, plus 240 gp worth of raw materials for Craft (alchemy).
Gear: The alchemist had leather armor (lab smock), pouch with 20 gp, and the thugs each had leather armor, spiked chain, pouch with 10 gp.

As the party moves ahead the come to a junction where a smaller sewer line once joined the main passage. The ceiling of the smaller passage partially collapsed, filling most of that tunnel with rubble. The surface of the rubble pile seems to shift strangely and closer examination reveals thousands of tiny vermin fleeing into cracks and shadows.
The sewer is dark. How are you lighting your way? The GM asks for no reason at all.
Valtyra Braga |
"This is a tidy little collection but makes my wary of what else might yet lay ahead for us."
Knowledge (dungeoneering): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Valtyra has darkvision (60 feet) which is how she is making her way around in the dark.
Setare Katsu |
"Oh dear ... oh Chaldira, you pushed us too far! I ... I just ... I hope they are still alive!"
Immediately after the battle Setare runs to the alchemist and tries to stabilize him!
first aid stabilize: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Then she runs to the last thug that the group hit and also tries to stabilize.
first aid stabilize: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Trying again ... (I now understand how the preview function works! ;-)
first aid stabilize: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Setare then walks to the first thug that she knocked out without wounding him, wakes him up and starts to speak with him slowly "Hey, wake up ... we warned you in advance to let us pass. You are still alive but your comrades are in bad shape. I would suggest that you take care of them. And ... and I hope that this is a warning for your group to be more diplomatic when negotiating with .... strangers!"
She then looks at the thug kindly and asks "Do you have any idea where we can find the Almsman? I could imagine that you know this area quite well?! Just point in the direction we have to go."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Pai Shecks |
Pai has low light vision.
Pai guiltily goes through the pockets of the fallen thugs. I know it's practical, but it's just mean. I can't believe I'm doing this. If we don't need it when we come back out, I'll give it back. Right? Yeah.
Next she looks over the items on the table. "Guys, this stuff could be useful down here. We should take it. Everybody grab some." She selects an acid flask and an alchemist's fire, sad that she can't carry any more. Weight limit for a weak little gnome.
Setare Katsu |
Looking at Pai with an uncertain expression Setare says "Well ... we ... we could borrow some of these things, right?"
She then grabs the tanglefoot bag and the four vials of filth fever tonic.
GM_CariMac |
"We aren't going to tell you where to find that man. He's a nuisance to us. Go away!" The thugs are understandably upset with the pathfinders, and not interested in sharing information.
Do you move on?
Valtyra Braga |
Valtyra utterly ignores the thugs and waits for the rest to finish their interrogations so that we all might move on and get this disgusting business over with.
Setare Katsu |
..Setare is very disappointed with the thugs answer
“At least we now know that the Almsman ... well ... is not befriended with ... these unfriendly Wyverns. Let us move on. “
Pai Shecks |
"Yeah, I'm ready to go." Off to the dark place full of creepy crawlies we go!
GM_CariMac |
The group moves on to the junction where a smaller sewer line once joined the main passage. The ceiling of the smaller passage partially collapsed, filling most of that tunnel with rubble. The surface of the rubble pile seems to shift strangely and closer examination reveals thousands of tiny vermin fleeing into cracks and shadows.

Is anyone using a torch for light?
Setare Katsu |
Setare does not have a torch and relies on her comrades light spells and her low-light vision.
Valtyra Braga |
Seeing Setare stumble in the darkness Valtyra pulls out her Wayfinder and uses it to cast Light on her armor. "Now please be careful as you are an automatic target for anyone who sees you."
Setare Katsu |
Setare is very surprised that Valtyra is so kind to help her but starts smiling and says
"Thank you so much Valtyra ... I ... I ... promise that I will ... you know ... be able to take care of myself."
Pai Shecks |
"Drat. Which way do we go? I hate having to make decisions like this. Especially when they involve creepy crawlies. Uuugh."
Setare Katsu |
Setare agrees with Pai with a slight nod but stays silent. She tries to orient herself and find out in which direction footprints lead.

GM_CariMac |
Ech'Tan moving up to the intersection with a lit torch causes a couple of things to happen. First a swarm of spiders comes out of the rubble toward him.
