Pai returns from her fruitless venture (it was worth a shot, anyway) and settles on blasting their faces from the top of the stairs.
"Oh, yeah Setare, good idea. I can help move the sick and their bedding and stuff, since I can't help with the door. Where to?" Yup, she's a weakling.

![]() |

Setare will stand next to the door so that she can initiate a surprise attack on anybody opening the doors.

![]() |

"Well it appears that we have some semblance of a plan. Hopefully it is enough."

GM_CariMac |

Two Hours Later
Laughter and footsteps can be heard approaching from the west. A voice calls out “Almsman! What say you? Are you resisting or giving us what we want? I hope you’re resisting!” He laughs loudly at his jest.
Couple of Questions: Are the doors locked and barred? Ech'Tan are you inside or outside the crypt? Go ahead an place yourselves on the map. The shakedown is about to begin.

![]() |

As she hears the approach of the Steel Wyverns Valtyra drops the bar in place across the doors. "That she stop them for a moment or two." Valtyra then takes her position and casts Mage Armor.

![]() |

Pai scrambles atop a sarcophagus so she can have a clear view once combat starts. Her arms hang outward at her sides, the empty fingers of both hands twitching, almost like a cowboy ready to draw pistols from both holsters. She takes a deep breath through her nose, slowly releasing it through loosely pursed lips as she pins the door with the intense stare of her pale green eyes.
Pai is placed on the map.

![]() |

I will not be able to post for the next 36 hours so please see here Setare's action. She would attack the first person coming out of the entrance (hopefully in a surprise attack or in the regular initiative phase).
Setare is trembling a little but she sees the first thug and attacks him with her Rapier.
Rapier attack roll (+4 dex, +1 BAB, +1 Weapon Focus): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage roll (+4 dex from Fencing Grace Feat): 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
In case Setare is attacked she uses 'Opportune Parry' and parries by expending an AoO to parry (so if the attack roll of the opponent is lower than Setare's parry then the opponent does not hit and Setare could potentially reposte)
Opportune Parry: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
In case Setare successfully parries she uses 'Reposte' as an immediate action to attack the opponent that attacked her by expending a Panache Point (currently 5/5 and 4/5 after potential reposte remaining).
Rapier reoste attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage reposte roll : 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

"What's this? Very funny. Do you think barring the door will save you? Men take down that door."
You hear banging on the door. It sounds much more effective than just men pounding on the door.
"Heave! With a crash the door splinters open, and the battle is begun.

"We'll we do have a fight on our hands. Wonderful!" Randalan expounds on how he and his men are going to thrash you, and take your things. He inspires his men to hit harder.
The two thugs in the front pull out their whips, and both attack Azora. Then they step in to allow their fellows to get a shot in too. Only two of them connect. Cuts open on Azora's arms. "That's better. Now we're having fun." Randalan moves around the edge of the doorway. You see a foppy looking human male. Who is much better dressed than his men.
When the thug comes within range of Seatare's reapier she strikes out and does him some damage.

![]() |

Setare you can't reach an enemy. Did you want to step forward or hold your attack until one comes in range? Is Ech'Tan is still holding is action?
Yes, Setare steps forward with a move action to reach the first thug available. See above for opportune parry and reposte if she is targeted by an AoO. Summary: She parries with a 19. If thug hits 19 below she repostes to hit critical AC 25 with 10 damage, confirms crit with AC 22 for another 10 dameg (total 20 damage). If that thug is dead then she attacks another thug hitting AC 18 with 6 damage.

![]() |

Unable to get a clear shot at any thug from her vantage point atop a sarcophagus, Pai hops down and passes behind Valtyra to end up standing just to her left. Quick as lightening, she shoots her right hand outward and zaps the thug with the light blue outline with a sizable blast of crackling electricity.

He takes a step back and attacks Setare with his whip again. He misses. Randalan continues to inspire his one remaining ally. Then he tries to disarm Setare, but he misses, and takes a step to the side.

Valkyra hits with her attack for a bit of damage. Azora misses with her pokey damage. The red thug just gives her a glare. Pai can't see to hit anything. Oh the plight of the short.
Ech'Tan comes out of hiding and hits the red thug for lots of damage dropping him dead.

@GM: I just wanted to point out that 'Expeditous Retreat' is a standard action and that Randalan should have acted after Setare in the initiative. So Setare's critical attack on Randalan for 19 damage should have been resolved before he tries to flee. I might be mistaken though. :-)

@Pai. They have the same thing the other thugs had. Gear: leather armor, spiked chain, pouch with 10 gp
The Almsman’s directions lead to a heavy wooden door. A sign on the door is partially obscured by grime and moss, and the word “Skytower” is still barely legible.

When the PCs enter, This room was once the basement of a building above, but the stairs in the far corner are now choked with charred rubble and seem to lead to a new stone foundation of the new building above. Odd furniture and knick-knacks of all description fill the remaining space, and strange winged effigies made of wood and broken pottery are arrayed in a bizarre diorama. The focal point of this display is a pair of chairs standing on different-sized piles of old crates like thrones on a dais.
A charred and shriveled corpse dressed in rotting and burnt finery and wearing a tin crown is propped up in one of the chairs while the other, lower chair, sits vacant.
Amidst the furniture is a desk with several log books and journals.
The next rooms are vaults lined with shelves thick with growing yellowcap mushrooms.
More faerie effigies hide among the mushrooms, and on the very back wall, Gandros has painted a portal, a large circle of swirling color patterns. On the floor lies an open and empty scroll case next to a slightly charred, blank piece of parchment.

![]() |

Valtyra looks over both the corpses and desk. "Well, well, well, this is rather fascinating." Valtyra clucks her tongue as she reads. "Well this does explain quite a bit. I can now kind of understand the delusions that old man was having."

She takes the journal and reads through it.
"Maybe ... maybe we can just keep the old man with us ... with us for a while. After all, he is ... you know ... kin of a Pathfinder, right?"

![]() |

"Kin of a agent of the Society does not a member make. Perhaps however someone will be able to find a place to send him to live out his days provided what we find doesn't lead to anything worse."
