Prepping for an AP run tonight; Eliphaz will move up and Daze the nearest threat when it's his turn (Will DC 15).

GM Livgin |

Ayla, I moved your mini to infront of the priest (red). From your description that looks like who you intended to charge.
The priest takes a step back and once again brings up the golden bejeweled rod in front of him, aiming a cone at the whole group and utters an arcane word. Again nothing happens... In panic he pulls a scroll from his belt.
5 foot step, standard action to activate the rod, move action to retrieve the scroll.

Vina dismounts Lakadee and casts Guidance on Janus Too.

Mohag judges the situation correctly, and as the Bola catches the priest in the side of his head he goes limp.

Janus detects a dim aura that eventually fades away, whatever magic that rod once held is gone now.
The guards shaking off the last dredges of the compulsion thank you; "You are heroes, thank you for finally freeing us! We've been that skum's slaves for months now! You must come back to the village with us, the council will want the thank and reward you for what you did today." Pointing to the chest of gold and silver on the ground, "That's the entire village treasury, and that skum was going to make off with it."
Village, now free from the rods magic, greets you as heroes and throws a feast in your honor. The following morning the council of elders brings you a pouch of gold (300g) as a reward and wishes you well on your travels.
We will start the next quest shortly. Feel free to RP the village feast in the meantime.

"We thank you for your hospitality. You are most generous."
How long before more Razmiran's come? These people don't look like they could put up much of a fight.
At the feast Janus quietly approaches the village elders. "Allenstead might consider declaring itself a River Kingdom. You seem more inclined to the River Kingdoms' way of life than to that of the Razmirans."

Janus Too tries to keep Janus, Lakadee and Vina in sight throughout the feast. When he can, he tries to nuzzle Vina, or tempt her out of her perch with strange clucking noises.

"Ayla have Apple! Ayla help Feast!" Volunteering about 30 apples, Ayla helps by peeling and cutting apples as needed. Between Pie and Tarts, Ayla has a tummy full of Baked Goods.
During the feast, if there is music or dancing of any sort, she will attempt to persuade Eliphaz to dance!
After dancing and drinking, she lets out an exaggerated yawn, before curling up on the nearest rug to nap.

After the feast the village council gives you rooms for the night. Well rested in the morning you prepare for the next expedition.
Please see the note titled: Crash.
Accompanying her notebook entry, Ulisha filled the next several pages with crude maps, complex equations, and further notes. She apparently returned to the Pathfinder’s cave mentioned in her previous entry. By observing the angle of the ridgeline and her current position, she was able to calculate the crash site’s probable location.
The last page on the matter includes a detailed map into Numeria with various landmarks and a destination. An addendum written in recent ink warns, “Tread lightly. Numeria remains a mystery to the rest of the world. Those who stay too long draw unwanted attention.”

The trees become sparse as you climb into the Numerian foothills. A series of switchbacks rises to a low summit.
The view is phenomenal at the crest of this hill, where Ulisha’s map indicates a crash site. Vast plains extend to the north, where clouds gather on the horizon. To the south, the Sellen River cuts a definitive border between the River Kingdoms and Numeria.
The metal is strange and unfamiliar. The entire wreck appears to be relatively undamaged. Its surface is scratched and dented but unbroken, and a 3-by-5-foot section of the side appears as though it could be opened on a hinge.
Opening the escape pod requires a successful strength check.

GM Livgin |

Lakadee moves forward and sets his roots, slowly and with inevitability he prys open the pod hatch.
The inside of the wreck is cramped. A single chair made out of the same strange metal faces the hatch, dozens of straps hang inside the device, and an array of levers and buttons lines the interior on one side. Several dozen palm-sized metallic discs and an unadorned silvery bracer lie scattered across the interior.

After Lakadee backs away from the opened pod, Vina rewards him with a shower of pure spring water.

Janus prays and wracks his brains trying to think of anything to do with Numerian technology...
"Mmm. We think perhaps we read an old Numerian scroll back at the Lodge. It would be a bit of luck if we could remember what it said, though, eh Mohag?"
I'm considering using Student of Scrolls to have stab at the knowledge check on the bracers. I'd only have a +4 to the attempt, so a Bit of Luck would be very useful!

Metallic disks DC 15 Appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
"These are Numerian 'silverdisks', a form of currency. All together worth around three hundred fifty gold."

![]() |

As a GM, I would normally rule Bit of Luck as not applying to Knowledge checks. Anything where you are taking an action, sure. But Knowledge checks are a gray area that I'm not comfortable exploiting as a player. Largely because it lasts for a round and I don't think "knowing something" is an action you accomplish in one round.
"Numerian magic? Perhaps we can find somebody in this land who is familiar with such things."

GM Livgin |

As the group descend the summit and you work your way down the switchbacks, a group of Kellids step out from the surrounding brush and block the path.
“Stop there,” demands a Kellid woman who hefts a massive blade. “You’re are not from here, and those things are not yours. Give us the silverdisks, all the gold you have, and anything else you found there. Then you may live.”

"We are Pathfinders. We seek knowledge. We have no use for silverdisks. You may have those. I serve the Green and you may also have magical berries that will make you and four more full for the day, and it will cure any little cuts and bruise you have on you. Deal yes?"
