Welcome to the game! When you get the opportunity, please send me a private message with your email address, as well as your PFS# if it is not included in your profile.
Alexandria, are you on slow progression? The reason I ask is that it appears you just played a level of Emerald Spire and that should have leveled you to 2.

Growler isn't smart. You may notice he will start mimicking your phrases, think parrot or some such. Don't be surprised if the phrase he uses doesn't fit the situation. He's got a nice wisdom score, so he isn't foolish, but when all you have is a greataxe...solutions tend to be...chop chop...

Some of you may know this from another game but, I've had a death in the family, I do not know the schedule. I don't think it will affect my posting much, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew if I miss a day or something.
I have a problem with my chronicles and Xien level Harker.
It seems I have misunderstood how GM chronicles are to be applied. I was expecting to apply Xien a Chronicle I GMed on a Tier 6-7 table and had been holding for some months now. But it seems you have to apply the chronicle at the lower level if your character is not on the higher tier level at the moment you got the chronicle.
That means Xien should be level 4 right now. As it should be still legal for him to play this scenario, I would not mind continuing to play with him as for his level 3 stats and only updating him at the end of this scenario. The effects on this chronicle should be the same after all, the out-of-tier gold.
I don't know if that is legal though, and I would understand if you think it is better for me to resign before we go deeper into the scenario and cause more troubles.

If you all could help me out by keeping track of your current hit points and displaying them I will be able to know who needs healing and how much. It will make my little cleric very happy.

Quiella's HP is under her Combat Spoiler.
In combat, Quiella can typically heal herself with LoH. Outside of combat, she has a CLW wand that she can use to heal herself so you can save your healing resources. Although if you'd rather use your own wand, I won't complain. :)

I have to remind myself that this character has no wand. I'll try to remember to add my HP, that same request is made by me in the game I play a cleric.
Harker, can you please clarify this?
Whips don't usually cause damage to armored characters like Ib. Yet it might be this one has special caracteristics we are unaware of, but they are usually only used for combat maneuvers.
Plus you usually have to choose between damage or maneuver.
You are right about whip damage, I failed to read the regular entry on whips due to this being a magical item. That being said, this particular item does get a free grapple attempt if it hits, so it does not need to choose between maneuver or damage.
It is now much easier than it was on D&D3, but still I understand your confusion as it is the most complicated maneuver. I include some summary here for you and references to complete help.
Grappled condition
Your movement is limited when you are grappled. You can still attack and cast spells, but you have penalties (-4 Dex, -2 attack and Concentration rolls for spells) while holding the grappled condition. The good thing is your grappler also have those penalties while he is grappling you.
What can the foe do with you
You will find this in the Grapple section of the combat chapter. He has to succeed with a grapple check every turn to maintain the grapple, but he has a +5 to do it. Once he succeeds into a check, it can move, attack or pin you. I will explain the grapple check below.
How to escape
You have two possibilities to escape. You can try either a grapple check or an escape artist check. The escape artist uses that skill bonus which is quite straight forward, if you succeed you are free. If you use the grapple check instead and succeed, you can choose to escape or to grapple your foe returning him what he was doing to you. The DC of the check is equal to your foe's Combat Maneuver Defense (CMD) in both cases, see below how to calculate it.
In both cases escape is a standard action that do not generate AoO, so if you succeed, you can still perform a move action.
Combat Maneuver Bonus (CMB)
This is calculated the same for all maneuvers and you can find it explained in this section of the combat chapter. It is basically calculated: base attack bonus (BAB) + Str + Size + Situational bonuses or penalties to attack (like prone)
In your case: 1 + 2 -1 = 2
Note the grappled condition penalties do not apply when attempting your grapple check.
Combat Maneuver Defense (CMD)
This is the DC to beat when trying maneuvers. You roll a 1d20, sum your CMB and the result has to be higher than this CMB. In this section of the combat chapter you can find how to calculate it.
It is basically: 10 + base attack bonus (BAB) + Str + Dex + Size + Deflection AC + Dodge AC + Situational bonuses to AC (like cover or prone)
In your case: 10 + 1 + 2 + 3 - 1 = 15
Summary
It is better for you to attempt an escape artist as you have a +3 due to your Dex, rather than a grapple check for which you have a +2 CMB.
Due to your smell size you have a -1 both to your CMB and CMD, I think this have been overlooked in your sheet stats.

I should be able to look at the map and post an action tomorrow
Hey Sorry about the feat the thing. I actually met Power attack. Also I got the games confused. In D&D 5E the DEX modifier is the used on ranged attack. I will play closer attention!
In fact Dex is used for ranged attack in D&D3 and Pathfinder to. What Harker mean is about the weapon damage. It is always using Str, either on melee or ranged attacks.
There are a couple fighting styles that allow Dex to damage though feats, basically with a scimitar in dervish dance or some swashbuckler class feature. But is very estrange, that's why we were surprised.
But it is good you included both options in case of doubt :D

In general, though, just roll one time and explain alternate modifiers. The dice rolls shouldn't be different just because you use the wrong modifiers.

Something came up. Please bot me if I don't find time to look at the map and post an action by the time Quiella is the last to act. She generally adopts a kill-first-heal-later policy but won't hesitate to LoH herself if things get bad, or she will LoH another combatant if they are for some reason the only one capable of doing damage.

I'm not sure if the modifier is right; I can't access my sheet right now.
Thank you all for playing, I'll work on getting the scenario reported and complying your chronicle sheets. I should have them out tonight, although I'll wait to hear back from Ib about his Day Job before sending his.
The session is reported, and I've sent out everyone's chronicle sheet with the exception of Ib who I am still waiting to get a confirmation on his day job.
Let me know if there are any issues with your chronicle sheets, thanks for participating and happy gaming!
