The coastal city of Magnimar is no stranger to crime, yet recently, a series of murders has sent a chill through the early morning streets. Someone—or something—is stalking and killing worshipers of Sarenrae, the goddess of the sun. The city guard is prepared to ambush the murderer, but they need help—help of the kind that adventurers are so good at providing. What is the sinister truth behind these violent acts?
Recruiting 6 Players for the 16-page Free RPG Day module Dawn of the Scarlet Sun. Standard PFS rules apply, credit will be given.
Levels 4-6, with the additional option of playing one of the slightly-tweaked iconic pregens, available as a free PDF download here. Aside from a silly little homebrew I'm working up, this will be my first run at GMing a PbP, as well as for PFS; I have nearly twenty years of RPG experience, and have the pleasure of playing under Pathfinder rules since the beta. I have ran several successful table games during that time as well.
Recruitment will end Friday, April 8th, 11:59 PM Eastern Time Zone.

I'm interested in making a character for this. I've been looking for a game to play a character I have backed up based on Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist. (RP wise anyways xD) Just need to know the character building rules
I'm running this module for Pathfinder Society credit; as such, a character would have to be built according to the given rules; for this particular case, you would have to play as one of the included pregenerated characters, which can be found somewhat in the middle of the page I linked in the first post. You would still be able to receive credit for the module, however you would not be able to generate a brand-new 4-6th level character for it.

So here's what we're looking at.
baja1000 - Are you interested in playing a pregen for this?
grimdog73 - Pregen
Necress Nyx - Oracle 4
Bulgo Bluefoot - Pregen Pally
Balomar - Did you make it to 4 over the weekend?
Waki Huro - Ninja 4
ElegantlyWasted - Sounds great! I don't get to pick-and-choose when it comes to PFS; I have to pick the people who sign up first. If one of the others no longer wish to play, you're in!
There's still several days left, and if we get further interest, I'll run two tables; I don't mind letting everyone play even if I don't get credit for doing it twice. With the lower APL of this group, though, I would be hesitant to put the 4th levels in a group smaller than 6; this module can apparently get rather difficult, and it's recommended it be the full 6, unless the party is full 6th levels.
So, if we get a couple more, we could split the group into PFS characters and pregens. We'd need 3 more to fill out the non-pregen group, and the pregen group can go with those already listed. If more people want to play pregens, that's also fine! The party can be mixed.
For those interested in playing with already-existing PFS characters, please find a way to provide me with your character sheet, your inventory tracking sheets, and at the very least, your most recent chronicle sheet (though I would prefer to see them all). You can take pictures, and upload them somewhere, if you do not have access to a scanner; if you do, I would much prefer scanned copies. Google's great for stuff like this, and you can either post a link, or PM me one.
Thanks!

Yes, he did make 4th... it was a GM credit. I've never used him in a PbP, so his profile needs to be updated.
I'm leaving town for vacation tomorrow and back next Wednesday. I'll have some access to the boards (Anniversary Vacation to Napa, CA with the wife, so she may ban gaming!). I can scan my chronicles when I'm back.

Lunch didn't happen; I was actually hungry.
So the breakdown now is this:
Necress Nyx - Oracle 4
Balomar - Pally 4
Waki Huro - Ninja 4
Bulgo, grimdog, and Elegant: We still have two spots. Bulgo and Grimdog, you were both kind enough to drop out to keep the table at the appropriate size. All of you are welcome to come back; two pregens and another level 4 should make the party power high enough to handle everything, assuming you all would still like to play.
Allanen - Shaman 5: I don't have enough for a second table, or to feel comfortable leaving the 4s to their own devices. As you were the last to pipe in, if the above three still want to play (and this post doesn't draw in a few more) then unfortunately I'm going to have to ask you to sit this one out. I'll be sure to bookmark your profile, and if I run another PFS game, I'll shoot you an invite.

(...)I will point out that in PFS you can play with 7 and its actually easier online than at a real table. (...)
Posting a quote I copied directly from the Guide:
Legal Table Size
The minimum table size for a Pathfinder Society
Organized Play session to be considered legal is four
PCs. Table size is capped at six PCs. In cases in which
you simply cannot seat four players, you may run a table
of three players, and play an official level-appropriate
pregenerated character in order to meet the minimum
table size of four PCs.
Conversely, if seven players show up to an event,
rather than turning someone away from the campaign
altogether, consider adding a seventh person to the table.
These situations should be extremely rare and should only
be used as a last resort to sending someone home without
the chance to play.
It goes on to mention splitting the tables, but this module is markedly difficult (according to nearly every review on here), and I'm almost certain that even mixing the pregens with the existing characters wouldn't create a viable (and survivable!) party if we split now. I'll shoot a PM to one of the VOs of Online, to see how I'm supposed to handle this recruitment process properly; theoretically, dozens of people could "show up," but it's not really inconveniencing anyone like an IRL event would.
If it's cool to run with 7, is everyone else fine with it? And if so (and I'll copy/paste this in a PM to you Al), it doesn't bother me any at all!

So after conversing with the Online VL, it's entirely my call if I want to take 7 or not on here. With 7, the APL is 5, and I feel like that will be a good level.
Everyone pop into discussion, and I'll get this actually rolling in a day or so.
@Grimdog - Absolutely. If, at the very top of the sheet, you can put a bigger, bold ([ bigger] is the code, if you didn't know, without the space) title reminding me that it's actually one of the NPCs, I would appreciate it.
Same applies to anyone using a pregen; no need to take up alias space if you have one unused.

GM Æroden |

is this profile ok for you? I have to add the stats yet...
Yep, looks good! And to answer your other question, yes, you may spend the gold they have available once the session begins; you have to actually tell me what you buy, just like with a regular character. However, you can not sell any of their equipment, except as a last-ditch effort at the end of a session to pay for a Resurrection and the like.
Just to be clear though, if you don't use the holy water, you don't get to carry it over to the character you apply this credit to; neither will you be able to keep any items picked up, unless they appear on the chronicle, as per normal.

I am only a player in this game and not the decision maker but we seem already to be a little heavy on iconics and the word is that this is not an easy mod. While I would love for everyone who wants to play to get to play it might be that we would be better off with more actual characters who are generally better built and equipped to deal with the problems presented in this year's scenarios.

GM Æroden |

As it stands right now, we have the following:
Ezren Pregen - Wizard 5
Allanen - Shaman 5
Necress Nyx - Oracle 4
Waki Huro - Ninja 4
With the newest interested:
Arion Duvamil - Pally2/Oracle2
Vailis - Some level 4
SkipperD - Several choices 5/6
We were originally going to run seven before a few characters died; if the three of you newest are interested in running with 7, I feel like the survivability factor is pretty good.
Pop a dot into gameplay, and if you have any convenient way of getting me your sheets, I would appreciate that, but at this point, I'd rather assume to trust and just get this thing started. Once everyone checks in, I'll post up the intro and we'll finally get going.
To my current players; thank you for sticking around. Waki - I definitely appreciate you popping a note into the Flakseed Lodge; I'll have to remember that resource for the future.
Game on.

GM Æroden |

umm...you forgot about me....
Oh, my apologies grimdog. Please fill out your alias with the character's stats; I had not heard from you, and seeing your profile blank led me to believe you were no longer interested.
Okay, so addendum:
Arion and SkipperD, you were the first two to arrive; if one of you do not feel comfortable in a group of seven, speak now, or else go on in.
Vailis - I'm terribly sorry; I've already extended the group to 7 players, and I can not do 8. If one of the above two wish to step aside for whatever reason, you can come in their stead, but otherwise I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to catch the next one.
