Why am I not being called? I have been on the list a very long time (although I have been up there as "capsocrates", I will change it to "caps").

You are still listed in the 'on pause' tab. Maybe you were mistaken in the tabs? Don't know the exact position since I added but have been low in the sheet for quite some time also.
There were a couple of calls in december where the same names kept showing up. Because none of them responded in those calls, I removed them, so that future calls would move quicker. I believe your name was among them.
In general, I apologise for the long waiting times alternated with sudden calls. I'm trying to give a bit more look-ahead of what is to come now (check the 'calling for games' tab for what I'm thinking about - no guarantees, though).

That was solved pretty quick! Fingers crossed that I will enter a game soon also ^^ They seem pretty hard to come by in the recruitment threads.
if you're not finding it here, try and find the 'flaxseed lodge' in the recruitment threads. There's several (pretty good!) GMs there that frequently recruit for new games.
Also, with PbP gameday coming to an end, there's a good chance there'll be something of a wave of new recruitment around Feb 1.

Derek, and any of the other people I've called: if you have played Glass River Rescue, then the next game I'm planning to start is 5-02, the wardstone patrol (a 3-7 game). I've indicated approximate start day, so you can already go ahead and jot down your player (please use player name, so I know who you are - it's a lot harder to figure out with character names)
I've only just read the blog post, but yes, that definitely sounds interesting. I'm trying to get into a regular schedule where I have two or three tables in parallel with staggered starts (so I have a new game starting every 2 weeks). I might make one of those tables 'core' by default.
For now, I'm approaching it like 'hard mode': if everybody wants to do it, we do it.

how does one go from your 'pause' list to the player 'queue' list?
If you're coming back from a game, just copy (ctrl-c or apple-c) the line on 'on pause' and paste it at the bottom of the player queue (ctrl-v or apple-v)

Hmm, the new configuration works alright for your games, but what about when other DMs come to pull from the list? How can they do it in a fair manner?
And what's to stop someone who just joined the thread from reserving a spot that someone who has been waiting longer would have wanted?
Hi Kludde! I was on the list ages ago and since have been rightfully removed. I thought when you said "I'll give a shout to the next players", you meant via PM and then I stupidly neglected to pay attention to this recruitment thread. I had thought that you'd simply stopped running through this list. So, so glad to see that isn't the case.
In any case, I just wanted to say a big "well done" for continuing to do this. For first timers especially, it is a magnificent boon - but it's an awesome gift to the whole community. You're a legend.
Will add my name to the list (and pay attention next time) if my current raft of PbP ever lets up. Thanks again!

There's a lot of things I'm trying to achieve here, and I'm trying to figure what is the best way to do it.
Primarily, I'd like to give as many players a go at a PbP game. I'd like to create a fair 'first-come, first-serve' like system. I'd like players to actually get a game after they've been waiting.
There's a lot of secondary objectives: creating a place where other GMs can recruit, trying to encourage players to pick up GMing, creating something of a centralised PFS PbP community.
I think the list system did a great job at keeping track of names of interested players, but my impression was that waiting times were just too long to work anymore. In the last recruitment round I got three responses out of 14 names. My hunch is that a lot of times people either missed the call, or had stopped looking at the thread - for neither of which they can be blamed, really.
In comes the new system: it's still a waiting list, but you can choose the game you want to be in and have an approximate idea of when it will start.
The transition is - admittedly - messy. I encourage everybody who is on the list and still actively looking for a game to speak out. So I'm doing the following:

I've tried to put everybody who indicated a preference on the transition list somewhere on the games list. The transition is now closed - it you're looking for a game, just enter your name directly in one of the open spots.
Some things you'll notice:
- There is an extra 5-02 game, that I've filled up. A lot of people indicated they wanted to do 5-02, so I'm starting a second table. Fine with me.
- I've put 'reserved' behind every name that I put in. Please remove that comment to indicate you want to confirm joining the game.
Feel free to shuffle you name around. Please only enter your name once for now (I tried to mark all duplicates, might have missed a few).
Some things I could not resolve:
- bluedove, Wei Ji and cuatroespada: I might be plugging in a game of penumbral accords somewhere (quite possibly between 503 and 504, timewise).
