Background
When asked about her past, Annalísa usually tells she was kidnapped as a young girl. In truth, she doesn't remember how she ended up as a child for sale on a slave trader's market. Sometimes she suspects her family gave her away or sold her to slavery, but she would never tell it to anyone. Since she barely remembers her original family, she invented her own family name, coming with a well-developed story about loving parents who were killed during the pirate raid that captured her as well.
Having passed between several traders as a girl, she was often beaten and abused, until she reached her final owner, one Pietro Bal. She began serving him by gathering alms from passers by. Pietro had a monthly contest for his children; whoever collects the least amount of money would be horribly disfigured in front of the others, in order to drive them to get more money - and assuming disfigured children will bring in more cash. Annalísa was lucky enough never to suffer that fate, getting income through begging, stealing, running minor errands, performing on the street and so on. At one point after a few years, her best friend Kisha fell ill and was unable to collect money for herself for an entire month. Pietro didn't care about such things, and for the entire month Annalísa evenly shared her income with Kisha, keeping an additional silver coin to herself. When the month was over, Pietro tallied the sums and found out that Kisha was indeed last, despite Annalísa's efforts. Annalisa was forced to watch as Pietro burned half of Kisha's face, as she was torn whether she could have done anything else to help her friend. After Kisha's death a few days later, Annalísa decided to run away, despite the risk of suffering public disfigurement if Pietro and his thugs would catch her. The next day she fled the city, running away as far as possible and trying to scavenge whatever she could from the wilderness. She kept moving away from the city, starving and exhausted until by chance she met a wandering circus. The manager refused to help her unless she would promise to serve the circus for five years, receiving a small stipend and doing whatever was needed. With little alternatives, Annalísa accepted and was forced to wear a collar marking her semi-servile state. While at the circus she moves around filling various positions and slowly opened up to the other performers, even entering a relationship with a knifethrower, Zitek. In one of the circus' most popular acts, Zitek would throw knifes all around Annalísa as the audience expected. However, Annalísa would catch the last dagger and then throw them all back at him unexpectedly. Life seemed as good as Annalísa allowed herself to hope for.

Things changed all of a sudden when Pietro himself came across one of her shows. Although she hoped he would not recognize her, he managed to sneak into the circus at night and entered her tent while she was there with Zitek. At the first sign of Zitek trying to defend her he was cut to pieces in front of her eyes. Pietro moved towards her, but she managed to escape while shouting for help. The villian and his henchmen disappeared. During Zitek's small funeral, Annalísa decided to leave the circus and avenge what was left of her life. She tracked down Pietro and his two bodyguards, and assassinated the latter in the middle of a brothel. With all her hatred, she tortured Pietro before letting him die, forcing him to pay for her ruined life. After looting the corpses, she built herself a small fortune which she then spent travelling to the great city of Absalom, where she decided to join the Pathfinder Society. She wasn't sure if that was the right move; however, she couldn't think about too many other alternatives that could use her skills without asking too many questions about her past.

Annalísa is 25 years old, stands about 5'5 and seems to have been through a lot. She is usually hardened and callous with strangers, although when opening up she might enjoy a laugh among close friends. She doesn't like talking about herself and is ususally reserved with regards to others, still harboring fears that like all previous important figures in her life, something will happen to them (she sometimes thinks she has been cursed to have everyone around her harmed, and invents various stories as to why that might be). She is serious with regards to her job and once she gives her word she will do anything to keep it. Having experienced so much, she believes the world is a dangerous place, and while trying to do good as much as possible in her daily life, she is often ruthless on missions or when facing people who try or tried to harm her. She would give alms and food to beggars on the street, but will have no problem torturing prisoners for information or executing foes - even those who try to surrender.

She has recently finished her initial Pathfinder Society training, and is ready to go on her first mission without a mentor.
