Here is a potential crunch for my dwarf skald. I'm working out his backstory still, got a bunch of thoughts/ideas rolling around in my head. Unnamed Dwarf Skald: Unnamed Hero

Definitely count me as interested. Set 1 Dice 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 2) = 11 - 1 = 10
Set 2 Dice 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 2) = 11 - 2 = 9
Two interesting sets to work with. I'll come back later once I have an idea what I might use.
Character death: No one wants to see their character die, but the enjoyment comes from being put in situations that are "threatening." If death happens I'm okay with it.
Character Short Bio:
Alexander grew up admiring everything his father did. He loved the gleam that would come off his dad's armor after it was freshly shined, the intimidating look that came across his face when he was hidden behind his tower shield, and most importantly how safe Alexander felt with his father nearby. As far as Alexander was concerned, there was no one better in this world to have as a father. Alexander would often help his father with donning his armor prior to him heading to his guard post and wonder what adventures his dad would get into during the day.
Many children eventually grow out of this stage, or some of the admiration diminishes, but not for Alexander. At the age of thirteen, he began training to join the town militia himself. His father was recently promoted to captain of the guard, and Alexander dreamt of being one of the soldiers under his father's command. Training continued for many years, until eventually Alexander became part of the militia himself. It was an event that Alexander will never forget as his own father was the one to give him his sword and shield and welcome him. By this time, Alexander was approaching his nineteenth birthday. On the eve of this day, Alexander was assigned his first night at post; however, a night spent celebrating with friends would soon turn into one he wishes he could forget. Alexander failed to arrive for duty as was expected of him. His father took it upon himself to stand in place. That was the night the giants came out of the forests. Everyone had heard tales of these creatures living nearby, but none had ever seen one. The town was unprepared and caught unaware. Many men died that night, but the only one that mattered to Alexander was his father. Eventually he would find his dad, crushed under the trunk of tree, barely clinging to life. The last words his father spoke to him were simply "I love you son." It was already heart-wrenching for Alexander dealing with his father's loss, and it only worsened when his mother arrived. She knew Alexander was supposed to be on watch. Alexander could never shake the feeling that he had disappointed his family. That night he packed his things and left town, hoping to find a traveling caravan he could work for as protection. All Alexander hopes is to one day return home, and hopefully restore some honor to his family. Character Crunch: Alexander Bain

I know, I like keeping to the original plan. It gives the character more flavor IMO. I find that with point buy it's much easier to fall into the trap of minmaxing. I will get the backstory up today.
James Keegan wrote: It doesn't look like you factored in the +2 ability score bonus for being a Half-Orc. Are we not using racial bonuses for our characters? Since I put the stats in order, my Dex was originally 11. I added the +2 to it making it the 13 now. GM MG wrote:
Goramar is NE, but he is very much an opportunist. He will utilize whatever means necessary to better his standing, if that means working with a team, as he has done before, he will do it.
Below is my take on a half-orc cutthroat slayer. Goramar not the easiest person, but he's always in for anything that could improve his situation. I still need a backstory and such, but I got a great idea where he's headed. I used Goramar's free Relic of War on a rapier. For his additional gift I opted to take the Mask of the Lost. I have some thoughts on how to tie it into my backstory, and that if a curse does exist on it, Goramar will be none the wiser for now. Let me know. Let me see what I could possibly get on stats, then I'll try and make a decision of what class I would roll with. 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1) = 8
Some low numbers for sure, could be interesting. I'll think it over and come back and let you know what I've thought up.
Introducing Marcus Sorel, Cleric of Inanna. I don't have any character crunch right now, just looking to see if the background would fit into your world. I wrote this recently, and it has been awhile since I have done something like it. Background: As far as Marcus knew, everyone lived the way they did. Religion was a part of their culture and who they were. Marcus just followed the path that he was shown, the path of Inanna. His life was devoted to Inanna and the teachings of love. As a child, Marcus would attend the teachings by the priestess Arian and she would teach the children of the town the ways of Inanna. Arian would teach Marcus the importance of love within our world. Without it, life was incomplete, shallow. But love had a darker side that many oft overlooked. Love breeds hate in many ways. Arian had tried to teach the students this part of their religion too, but no one seemed to take special notice of these teachings, Marcus included. For them, life was entrenched in the pursuit of love, after all what could go wrong when seeking out the most beautiful part of life? Marcus befriended the priestess Arian’s daughter early in life. Tadyn and Marcus were often seen together. As the years progressed, Tadyn and Marcus grew closer and their understanding of Inanna’s teachings only grew. The two were inseparable. Arian continued to teach the students as they aged, but for some, the teachings started to fall on deaf ears. Marcus began to feel he had reached the pinnacle of understanding of Inanna’s teachings as his love continued to grow for Tadyn. Marcus wasn’t the only person who felt feelings for Tadyn however. While Marcus and Tadyn were often noticed together, people generally failed to take notice of the third in their party. Liam and Marcus were practically raised together since their parents were siblings. Before Tadyn had become such an important person in Marcus’ life, Liam and Marcus did everything together. It didn’t bother Liam too much early on always tagging along with the two of them, but eventually he started to feel like his presence was unwanted. Marcus would often insist on Liam taking a different route home so that he and Tadyn could be alone, only furthering the amount of betrayal Liam felt from his friend. He began to despise Tadyn, for not only had she and Marcus fallen in love, she had managed to take his best friend from him. On Tadyn’s 22nd birthday, Marcus had made the decision to request Tadyn’s hand in marriage. In their city, it had become accustomed to make such proposals in a garden on the edge of town. It was there Marcus would ask for Tadyn to wed him, and they could go on the rest of their lives following Inanna’s teachings. They could finally conclude their teachings of Inanna with the sacred vow of love and marriage, or so Marcus thought. Marcus needed Liam’s help in getting Tadyn to the garden so that he may propose to her properly. He told Liam to find Tadyn and tell her Marcus had a special plan to celebrate her birthday and bring her to the garden. As night fell, Marcus still stood in the garden waiting. It was at that time he finally saw someone approaching, but it was not his bride to be. Liam walked from the shadows, his face distraught. “Tadyn has fallen” Liam said, “on our way here she collapsed and she is deathly ill” Liam continued. Liam managed to leave out the information regarding his role in Tadyn’s condition as he continued to explain the dire situation. Marcus collapsed and tears flowed down his cheeks. Marcus would arrive next to Tadyn in time to see her before she passed. That day, Marcus began to understand the other side of love. He was angry, bitter, and hated everything to do with Inanna. He followed the teachings, but did so out of obligation more than desire. Love had scarred Marcus as his love was taken from him. The teachings of Inanna continue, and Marcus still attends them and listens to Arian speak, but the emotions that used to be present have all but died within him.
I have never being a GM/DM before for any game but it is something I would like to pursue. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to look for a local tabletop game to learn the craft for doing so. With all this in mind: 1. What would the community recommend doing to prepare to GM a game?
Like I said, it is something I'm considering based on any and all information the community might be able to provide me. If it turns out that it's a bad idea to try and get into doing it for the first time on PbP then so be it, but I wanted to evaluate the community's thoughts first. If I were to go about PbP GM games, I would almost exclusively do PFS scenarios since my time is lacking, as mentioned previously, that would prevent me from having enough time to develop a scenario myself. I have enough time I would be able to manage everything, I believe, but not enough to build something myself. Any information the community can give me would be great.
Sorry I misunderstood the pp part as I copied Evan. Thought it was platinum pieces. So that should be 0 and gp should be 41.89 -Posted with Wayfinder
Name: Mike Quinlan Day Job: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 -Posted with Wayfinder
In agreement with everyone else. If we can would love to continue on. For some reason Wayfinder won't let me post with Markas since he's my first character. -Posted with Wayfinder
I would be interested in doing something like this. It is something I have always wanted to try and I don't know of anything local (and would prefer to not find something), so I would be a little slower than the majority at getting everything correct. I have played D&D before (albeit only a few times), so if you would be really to help a newbie out I would love to be a part of it all. I'm trying to build a Human Fighter right now. Let me know if you guys would be willing to have me. |
