Karasuma is positive that all traps are removed. The trap leads to another level down. Two trapdoors rest in the southwest and southeast corners of the chamber, whose walls and table are covered with maps. Two green-tinted glass windows, each roughly ten feet in diameter, look out to the canyon floor below.
The room is empty, and a quick search uncovers no traps. The two trapdoors lead to the lowest level, by means of two ladders. Only 15 feet separates the northern and southern walls, and the southern wall is home to a 15-ft.-wide set of ominously large teeth. The teeth are in the process of opening up, overlooking a battlefield 100 ft below. A battlefield upon which a battle rages. A single metal lever rests to the west of these odd teeth.
The middle of the room is shrouded in darkness.
Nobody has darkvision, right?
You are on the second floor, looking down onto the third floor, of which the south side overlooks the battle. It's a steep drop...

Note that the floor count from the top: the second floor is above the third floor. I'd assume Naggy climbed down like the rest of you - I was just skipping an uninteresting, empty room to move things forward.
On the second floor, Ahnastasios find no special magical items, while he noticed that evil permeates the Worldwound, not in the least in the lower floor of the building.
Brae-Hagen looks ready as Sifvery casts a shield spell, and Dvalin blesses the party.

There is not a lot that Karasuma can do in terms of buffing the party or even self-buffing. His gear is what his gear is, and he's on the shallow end of party power.
HOWEVER:
That being said, there IS a way he can contribute, and that's by attempting to discern the nature of the lever, and the current position thereof in relation to the gaping maw, and if manipulating said lever could produce a positive result or a negative result for the party based on current information...

A Heavyload belt! It's mainly the tower shield that has an armor check penalty of -12 though, but it's in her flavor to never take it off as it has a double function as her walking frame.. So far it has led to many a hilarious situation at my lodge.

Karasuma inspects the lever from afar, and gets a hunch that the opening of the maw and the lever may be connected.
Naggy peeks down the hole, and identifies a darkness spell, combined with a displacement spell. The man looks like a half-fiend, but it's not entirely clear to Naggy what that means.

He makes some arcane gestures, and as he completes, the west side of the bunker fills with a green gas that obscures all sight, and which causes the eyes to water as the result of a horrible, unspeakable scent.

Sifvery and Naggy are not in the area of effect. You are where you are located on the map - the green are is the stinking cloud (which has spread over two levels). Second floor is above the third floor: the trapdoors on the second floor lead down to the third floor's ladders.

You gain temporary, intuitive insight into the immediate future during your next attack. Your next single attack roll (if it is made before the end of the next round) gains a +20 insight bonus. Additionally, you are not affected by the miss chance that applies to attackers trying to strike a concealed target.
it's a little-known but extremely useful rider effect of the spell! :)
I believe Ahn would be correct in this case, as the spell level is not high enough to interact with the darkness spell.
