Scare Crow |
Know Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
"Orb!" Scare says as he stares down the undead on the throne. "Give!"
Seline Spiritbound |
Seeing the creature in front of her, Seline will take a few moments to channel her mental power, calling upon an additional spirit to aid her. When finished, hot molten wax begins dripping from Seline's fists onto the floor, and she gets an even more wild look in her eyes than normal. Full-round action to trance the Waxworks.
Kerastes |
Kerastes involuntarily steps away from Seline while he waits for the undead's reaction to Scare's eloquence
Orophin Telemnarn |
Orophin moves into the hall.
"Who are you?" he asks
"Do I speak with the shade of seven fingers?"
diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
DM Kludde |
Sevenfingers! Accursed be that name! the ghastreacts to Orophin, then to Scare Orb? What are you going on about? Speak clearly, for I have no orb to give. And I ask again, what is your business here?
Orophin Telemnarn |
"We seek the Orb of Stars, which is supposed to be buried here. Now I have answered your question, you have yet to answer mine. Who are you? And how are you bound here?"
DM Kludde |
I am Rajhan-Vol, one who briefly served the name you mentioned as Bosun. Alas, his traitorous ways were many, and he left me to rot in these underground realms, knowing the polyp would claim me and transform me into this!
There is no orb here, none that I know of. I will allow you to pass, if you bring me a sacrifice, for I hunger for flesh...
Kerastes |
Kerastes's jaw drops "A sacrifice? Are you insane? We will not do such a thing!"
Cirri Merryweather |
"No sacrifices here... I think it's time for you to rest." Remember, you're helping them pass on Cirri. Put on your braveface.
If Seline's going, Cirri is right with her.

Return to the earth!
Quarterstaff+1, Two Handed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Seline charges straight for Rajhan-Vol I'm assuming my charge happens before Cirri moves up, attacking him with an unarmed strike.
unarmed: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23

Seline is sickened for number of rounds: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Both Cirri and Seline manage to hit - the quarterstaff squishes into the morbid flesh, and Seline - despite her revulsion - manages to land a hit as well.

The lone festrog attacks Cirri. bringing her down in a series of vicious attacks, and starts feeding on her flesh. It seems to grow stronger almost instantly.

Seeing Cirri fall, Orophin quickly moves up to the magus. Reaching out a tender hand, he lets forth a small trickle of life energy - this drawn from himself - not from the surrounding world.
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Cirri Merryweather |
That leech dropped Cirri from 12 to 11 Con, so her max is currently 8 HP.
"Good, he's gone. Maybe that awful stench will go..." Cirri lets her guard down, and the Festrog takes advantage and digs its claws into her. It's too much, and Cirri collapses. Oh no oh no it's gonna eat me it won't even digest gosh they are scary
Cirri gasps, conscious and face down as she feels Orophin's touch. She's alive, and that's a welcome relief.
After Orophin's cure, Cirri is back up to 8.
Cirri will delay to see if the party can kill the creature. If this doesn't, she will stand up (provoking an AoO) and Total Defense (bumping her AC to 18)
Seline Spiritbound |
Seline five-foot steps around her allies to double-punch the last festrog and put it out of its undead misery.
unarmed 1: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 = 9 <+1 bless

Unfortunately, I think both of those attacks miss. :(
DM Kludde |
Cirri, I think you're at 1 hp, then, you took 17 points of damage from the festrog.
Seline puts in two tentative stomps as Cirri is brought back to the living - much to the dismay of the festrog. Neither of Seline's blows connect with the rotting creature.

With a girlish giggle the Phantom steps into the wall leaving a slimy stain where she passed through. A few moments later she appears from the wall behind the festerog. Double move, movement through the wall counts as difficult terrain. Scare steps up taking advantage of the flank and swings his scythe.

Cirri Merryweather |
Oh boy, that's not good. I hope that Festrog rolls poorly!
DM Kludde |
The magic missile hits the festrog, but it is not sufficient to bring him down.
The creature, having had a taste of Cirri, takes another bite out her, leaving her on the ground once more. He then starts defending his prey by clawing at Seline, one of the claws causing a deep wound that will surely fester if untreated.
With the creature having tasted more flesh, it seems to strengthen once again

DM Kludde |
Just as Seline comes in for a slightly-too-wild swipe, Cacumattus delivers a zapping touch to the festrog. It jitters and shocks until it finally comes to a rest.
Combat over!
There is a sea chest next to the throne of Rajhan-Vol, which bears a coarse inscription :I leave you this as wages for your loyal service from now to eternity, my ambitious traitor—S.E.”.
The orb of stars is not here.
Cirri Merryweather |
Cirri should now be at 3 hp
"Ow...And I thought the Leech bite was bad. Thanks, everyone." Cirri stands back up and dusts herself off, leaning on her staff for support.
"So...what's in the chest?"
DM Kludde |
The chest looks benign to Seline. Unlocked even.
Scare Crow |
As the group gathers around the chest Scare closes his eyes and concentrates. The Phantom gives a nod and a giggle and dispears into the wall again.
Phantom is moving through the south wall to see what is behind the rubble. He is using his shared vision ability to see what the Phantom sees. I took a peek if you don't mind Kludde.
Breaking his concentration Scare says, "Come." Leading the way to the rubble he points "Stairs." The Phantom comes back through the wall and follows Scare.
Kerastes |
"Wait a second Scare, we should heal Cirri and Seline. Orophin, is this a good moment for you to imbue us with Shelyn's grace?"
No idea if you have channels left, I do not mind using my wand
DM Kludde |
In that case:
Beyond the secret door is a narrow set of steep stairs descending into darkness. After several dozen feet, the stairs end in a solid stone door carved to resemble an immense scowling face.
Beyond the rubble a heap of coins and other valuables lies piled in the middle of a room. The largest item in the pile is a gem-studded copper sphere. Though completely motionless, the light on the sphere seems to flicker and fade like a desert mirage. There's a single undead creature inside, lurking, as well.
Wow! That's a pretty killer ability...
Cirri Merryweather |
"Also, I wonder what's in the chest. I mean, it's closed and stuff and I got bitten by a thing for this."
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 17 Anything obviously wrong with it?
DM Kludde |
Inside the chest are 10000 silver pieces, only a tiny fraction of Sevenfinger's wealth.
Cirri Merryweather |
"Wow, that's a lot of money. No gems though. Oh well. Lead the way, Scare."
DM Kludde |
With the digging equipment provided by Calisro, it is possible to clear the collapsed hallway. It would take quit some time though, and it is fatiguing work.
Clearing the hall takes 6 hours and requires a DC 10 con check in order to avoid becoming fatigued
Alternatively, with the help of phantom, the party has a good idea of where the secret door leading to the hallway and stairs down is.
Cirri Merryweather |
"Thanks Phantom. You giggle a lot, huh? I can't believe Scare says more..." Cirri waits for the hidden stairs.
