Azrael the Talon |
Azrael keeps a close eye on Valais as they continue to dwell deeper into the secret chambers.
At the sight of the workshop of horrors, the human maintains a calm demeanor as he attempts to digest the sight. "What is this?" He asks, no one in particular, but hopes Valais may shed a light. His eyes scan every corner of the room, deciphering any possible lurking dangers that may be hidden.

Just throwing out some rolls that might be relevant.
DM Elan Morin |
Azrael and Sheela hear some low sounds coming from the elf, some sort of moaning maybe? Yet, with his level of medical knowledge Azrael cannot be sure about the elf's affliction, if any, or even if the prisoner is still alive or not.
Valais spies inside the room for a second beofre turning her head away:"It's disgusting, but yes... that's Thurl's handywork indeed! Sssslice and ccccut, sssstab and ssssew! We get Thurl and we feasssst!"
Does someone get near the elf? Don't forget to move yourselves on the map please
Sheela Kolphan |
With no doctors in the house, Sheela decides to approach the poor elf.
Heal with Heroism!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
"I'm so sorry...what is afflicting you? Is there any way we can reverse this? Or at least... ease your pain?"
Idril Bladesong |
Idril's jaw clenches at the disgusting sight. He draws his wand of healing and infuses the tortured elf with some positive healing energy. He nods to Sheela, appreciating her efforts and speaks to the poor soul in Elven.
"Easy brother, let us help you. I swear on all that is holy I will let no more harm come to you. Tell me son of Kyonin, who did this to you?"
Idril will expend a charge from his CLW wand to heal the elven test subject.
Vrothum |
Vrothum keeps an eye out for any unexpected guests.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
What's wrong with them? Are any of them savable?
Valentynne |
If Thurl has experimented on the elf the same way he did on Valais, Val is half expecting for the healing wand to harm him instead, when that happens he's ready to use his link to negative energy to heal the elf.
Healing demons... Who'd've thought I'd be doing that for a change.
DM Elan Morin |
According to the map only Valentynne and Sheela have approached the body.
As soon asn Valentynne and Sheela approach the body they realize it's long dead. The sounds it's emitting come from somewhere else. And a few moments after they ascertain this the corpse's distended belly literally explodes sending a powerful wave of negative energy, viscera and spores all around the place as dozens of arm-length, wormlike tentacles erupt from the abdomen.... unfortunately for them the two pathfinders have no way to avoid being invested by the horrid substances.
Sheela and Valentynne take 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 points of negative energy damage (Will DC 16 half). Both of them also need to check Fortitude against a DC of 16
You can now search the room which has another door leading west as well.

Idril shields his eyes as the poor dead man's belly explodes. His eyes widen as he recognizes the substance that coats Sheela and Valentyne.
"Careful! Sheela, Valentyne, those are Abyssal spores. Parasites...there is no telling the damage they will cause if they take hold!
Idril tries to recall any knowledge of how to stop or treat the spores.
He will cautiously search the room after the spore situation is sorted out.

Big FAT no on both. I guess I don't need to update my HP now xD
"By Gorum's shield! Whoever left this elf to rot here will have to pay for soiling my armor" He'll try to find some clean rags in his bag to wipe some of the horrid entrails off.
Sheela Kolphan |
Sheela almost pokes the body before it bursts.

Clearly the proximity and the sudden shock surprised her. Luckily Grandmama taught her to cover her mouth in case of abyssal parasitic infection. "Hmpf." She wipes the goo off of her.
"Well, that was a mess." She pulls out a wand. "Is anyone here good at using wands of Cure Light Wounds? I can wing it, but..."
CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 6) + 2 = 9
"Valentyne, if you want you can use my wand. Let's see what's in the next room." Sheela moves to the western door.
Vrothum |
You guys alright in there? Ooh? That looks unpleasant, lets hurry on out before anything else happens. Vrothum will follow on behind Sheela occasionally checking on Valais making sure she's doing alright.
Azrael the Talon |
cant update map currently.
Concerned, the masked human searches around the room a little more thoroughly for signs of danger, or anything useful.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
If he finds nothing will continue to the next door
DM Elan Morin |
Friendly remainder: please remember to move your tokens on the map when you take action, thanks
After the unpleasantness with the dead elf's body the rest of you enters the gruesome room and opts to avoid further exposure to the noxious place by entering the next door to the west. Aside from the negative energy damage Sheela seems unaffected by the spores while Valentynne appears a bit shaken by the experience.
Inside the next room you find another scene from a nightmare. Clawed limbs, scaly torsos, and other large body parts hang from large hooks connected to the ceiling by thick chains. Along the walls, large canisters and jars hold dozens of smaller body parts suspended in clear liquid. The room ambient temperature is somehow extremely low.
Valais shakes her head in disgust muttering something under her breath.

This is the work of a mad man, he will pay for this. Valais I can't imagine how hard this is for you, and I have to admit that I'm worried that whatever else we discover may bring on horrible feelings and memories. I want you to know that you don't have to continue if you don't want, and we will take care of this for you. You have my word!

Sheela wipes herself down with Valentyne's rag. "In some circles, sharing a wet garment would be a symbol of courtship. I hope you're not trying to court me while we're 'on the job'." She grins at the aasimar while wiping herself off.
"Huh." Sheela begins looking for magical auras as she looks at the frozen body parts. "I think we can rule out Thurl's intentions of goodwill, here."

"Unless you love the heat of battle and rains of blood, it was not a courting gesture.
The Society may need a long time to correct it's path after Thurl's transgressions, and further, to prevent it from happening again."
Moved Rogar to the cold room.
Sheela Kolphan |
"You know if you changed two words in that phrase, you could melt many hearts." Sheela quips. "But it sounds like you're in work mode right now!"
Vrothum |
Well, anything else of interest? If not I believe there was another door leading to the east, shall we continue on? If given the go ahead, Vrothum will head to the other door, stop give it a once over, then turn to Azrael. Given what we've seen up to this point, would you like to check this door for traps? Vrothum will look around for anything out of sorts around the door, then ask Azrael to do the same just to be safe.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
DM Elan Morin |
Sheela doesn't discover any magical auras inside the room, besides the wand Vrothum's found, which emits a moderately powerful conjuration aura.
Idril scans the room muttering, somethimes the other two voices making themselves being heard, but nothing she says seems to make much sense anyway, aside from the fact she never entered this place before and it clearly disgusts her.
Azrael the Talon |
Posting Rate should revert normal now!
Unable to make sense of the papers, Azrael picks it up to show the trest of the Pathfinder later.
He follows behind Vrothum with caution, shield high ready to open the door leading to the next room.
Vrothum |
Any one else want this wand? I have no use for it.
DM Elan Morin |
Stairs descend from the west into this flooded chamber. Stagnant water opaque with grime and scum fills the chamber, which is featureless but for a rusting metal door to the north and several eroded runes near the waterline.
"I remember this place..." Valais says "Last time I came here I was tempted to try escaping through the water. In the end I decided to avoid that route... something did not seem right about its smell.
A DC 20 Knowledge(arcana) check is needed to make sense of those runes, otherwise you need to decide what to do: explore the water filled chamber or move down the other end of the corridor?

"I can hold onto the wand, Vrothum. I can try to activate it blindly if we need to."
Sheela takes a look at the runes.

And she shrugs.
"I'd like to stay out of the water, honestly. I've been covered in enough grime for one day."
"Unless... you want me to summon something in the water to take a look around. Oh! I could conjure a water elemental to scout around!"
Sheela Kolphan |
"Okay, um. I'll summon a water elemental, then."
Sheela begins to cast Summon Monster II, and tries to conjure a Small Water Elemental in the center of the pool.
"Okay Master Splashy. Do you notice anything out of the ordinary in the water? Please take a look!"

With such a tight, confined space, Sheela decides to stay back and begin calling upon the power of Sleep .
Casting time is 1 round, so the spell won't go off until next round. DC 17 Will Save to resist.
"See? This is why I don't want to set foot in weeks-old water."
Meanwhile, Master Splashy moves forward a bit and waits for the creature to approach it.

DM Elan Morin |
Sheela starts to cast while her elemental prepares for a fight. Vrothum's arrow pierces the thing's skin yet it just sticks into it without causing any apparent damage. Not so with Azrael's dagger, which seems to have some effect at least.

The water is 8 feet deep. Do you really want to enter it? If so you need swim checks in order to approach the monster.
Valentynne and Rogar seem confused about what to do while Valais curses... all 3 of her voices do, yet she approaches the room's entrance:"Keep out of the water! It's deep and that thing can swim better than you do... probably"
As this happens the monster closes on the elemental, easily avoids its attack and slams its disgusting mass down on it!

Sheela has a scroll of Touch of the Sea. She will ready an action to cast it on the first person adjacent to her who asks for it.

So I think we should revist this strategy, I didn't think the water was going to be that deep when I plunged in, but it seems like a terrible idea to fight this thing in the water. Do we have access to sleet storm? It's not on my spell list, so...
Sheela gives Rogar a high-five. As he does, he feels his hands and feet change slightly, like a duck. The scroll Sheela was holding burns up. "Get swimming out there."
"If that doesn't work, I brought a scroll of Spider Climb with me, too."
Vrothum |
I found the wand of sleet storm and it’s on my spell list, so it’s on yours as well 3rd level spell, however it appears that the other two are fine with fighting the creature in the water and casting it now would just blind them both. I’ll hold my turn for now as I’m interested to see how the DM is going to rule a few things first.
