Idril Bladesong is the son of a renown swordsman and protector and the troubled daughter of a notable elven noble house. He has a twin sister named Alena. Idril?s parents were champions for good and attempted to start a kingdom in the River Kingdoms that was a focus for good in that troubled land. Unfortunately, several external forces worked against this vision and destroyed the kingdom before it could become established. Idril?s mother was killed by a mysterious force of Abyssal origin. Devastated, his father sequestered his children to Kyonin were they were given sanctuary in the house of his deceased mother.

Idril, being a half-breed, had a difficult time among the elves. His keen intellect and budding martial skills sharpened in his youth due to constantly having to match skills with his elven peers. Prior to coming of age, Idril?s father disappeared and his whereabouts remain unknown. Before his disappearance, Idril?s father taught him the use of his ancestral weapon, the katana. Idril grew in skill in his father's absence, developing prowess with the blade as well as inheriting his mother's family gift for magical learning.

Idril travelled from Kyonin upon attaining an age that allowed travel on his own. No one knows where Idril went to perfect his study and Idril is very secretive about his journey. Upon his return, Idril carried Arkanan, a magical black katana. He has not shared with anyone how this blade came to be in his possession. Idril has taken it upon himself to carry the legacy of his parents into Golarion, but has decided to "improve" on their methods. This improvement troubles the family of his mother as Idril's tactics appear brutal at times. Nevertheless, he now travels Golorian in search of wrongs to right, goodly causes to champion and, most of all, for the ultimate fate of his father. He has decided to join the Pathfidner Society to use the organizations resources to discover what happened to his father.
