DM Elan Morin |
You spend the next couple of minutes talking to Sir Ilivan in a reassuring manner. Upon becoming alert, he straightens himself and shakily tries to mount his mare, slipping in his stirrup on the first try and nearly falling back on the ground. He waves off any attempts to help him, incoherently mumbling that he is fine.
You can attempt a diplomacy check to have Sir Ilivan explain what happened. Followers of Iomedae may get a bonus... (or maybe not!)
Valentynne |
diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
"Sir Ilivan, most of us noticed something amiss, we started hearing voices and Titus struck at me before howling like a raving madman. Are you familiar with these feelings of unease? Are you well? You fell from your mount, do you require healing?"
Titus Minicius Parthicus |
Appolgies Valentynne, I am not sure came over me my goodman, but by Aroden I swear I mean you ill will or harm.
shaking my head and grateful I did not kill or seriously maim anyone, I walk to the fall craven knight, wondering what new curse might be afflicting her mind and body.
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
sense motive: 1d20 ⇒ 19
DM Elan Morin |
Who among you is a follower of Iomedae? And is there anyone willing to assist Valentynne with diplomacy? If no one else does and/or the diplomacy roll still isn't enough Sir Ilivan will simply mumble something under his breath before closing himself into stubborn silence
Vrothum |
Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Sir do you know what just happened? Are you alright?
DM Elan Morin |
Full disclosure: for this check to suceed you need a roll of 20 at least. Valentynne rolled 14, which increases to 16 with Vrothum's help. And I ask again, is any of you a follower of Iomedae?
Titus Minicius Parthicus |
Titus is a follower of Iomedae
diplomacy aid: 1d20 ⇒ 19
What is going on that we do not know, that we need to know in order to accomplish something like one of Iomedae's great deeds by Aroden my goodman.
DM Elan Morin |
Sir Ilivan seems undecided then his walls break down and he explains himself:"During the Fourth Mendevian Crusade I was but a young recruit filled with dreams about glory, honour and dreaming I would be the hero who would close down the Wound itself, casting out the Abyss from the land. I now recognize I was vain, stupid and arrogant. During one particularly fierce battle a shadow demon got the drop on me and possessed my soul. While under his control I was forced to slay 2 members of my platoon before being restrained. It was as I were just a passenger in my own body, unable to prevent myself from committing such heinous acts and forced to look as my possessed limbs did the demons' bidding. It was only through the divine powers of clerics of Iomedae that the demon was cast out. It was not so different than what happened moments ago and I musty admit losing control terrified me to the very core of my being".
As the crusader finishes his story it seems that confessing his past failures had some sort of therapeutic effect on the crusader. After a while he gives you a genuine smile and says:"I now realize I was wrong. We must save those men. Let's go! It's not too late for us to save them but we need to hurry!"
So you jump back in the saddle and quickly cover the disatnce separating you from the abyssal riders.
A dry, narrow gulch follows a dried-up creek bed appears to have been the site of numerous battles. Rusted weapons, broken arrows, and the occasional skull are strewn about the landscape. The walls of the gulch narrow, creating a natural choke point.
The walls of the dry gulch are only 8 feet in height, and its walls are pocked with holes and other easy handholds. Scaling them requires only a DC 10 Climb check. Before I add a map I need to ask: how do you approach? Do you have the means to hide your approach or do you want to try to be stealthy?
Azrael the Talon |
With such a virtuous group, I understand we will go in guns blazing! Loud trumpets signal the arrival of the demonslayers. lol.
If possible, I will take 10 for a 12 on climb.
"We must be close to them... Best keep your guard up." Azrael motions pointing his kukri to the rotten skulls.
DM Elan Morin |
As you approach you see a pair of dretches led by a powerful brimorak demon stand around a huddled group of Mendevian soldiers clapped in manacles. It's evident the demons have driven their prized captives hard, and it was near here that several passed out from exposure and exhaustion and are tormenting them while waiting for their march towards the Worldwound to resume.
Unfortunately your arrival does not go un-noticed and the Brimorak brays something in its foul language before pointing his flaming sword in your direction...
Rogar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Idril waves his hands and utters arcane words calling forth magical protection for himself then draws his dark blade, channelling more arcane energies into the black metal.
Idril will take a standard action to cast shield and a swift action to spend 1 point from si arcane pool to empower his black blade, adding +1 enchant for a total of +2 enchantment bonus on the weapon.
Vrothum |
Vrothum begins casting Enlarge Person
DM Elan Morin |
@Rogar: no. Unlike Sir Ilivan's your mounts would go mad in the presence of creatures such as the demons.
Idril casts a protective spell and empowers his sword.
Vrothum start casting a spell to increase his own size.

Everyone but Rogar: DC15 Reflex save of suffer 6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 5, 6, 1) = 20 damage
One of the dretches starts executing the prisoners while the other dretch moves towards Rogar!
The demon bites on the first crusader's throat, slaying him!
As this happens Sir Ilivan points to the north were dust clouds are raising from the ground.
The crusader steers his horse in their direction and commands:"Pathfinders! Slay the accursed brimorak demon and save those men! Don't worry for their reinforcements! I will hold them off as long as needed!" then he gallops away to meet the oncoming horde.

the map board appears to be off, with no terrain on it....I will check back later to complete my actions
DM Elan Morin |
@Titus: someone erased the map. I restored it as it was and moved you up 6 squares towards the enemy
Titus and Azrael manage to avoid the worst effects of the brimorak's conflagration. Not so Idril who suffers heavy burns from the fireball.
All of you were healed to full hps during your stay at the fort btw

Rogar the Righteous |
Rogar will charge the dretch coming at him.
atk: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
dmg: 2d6 + 15 ⇒ (1, 3) + 15 = 19
Go back to the pits of hell you foul beast
GM want to point out i get a plus 2 for my wanded divine favor because of my fates favored trait. Thats why there is an addition 2 on atk and dmg instead of just a plus 1
DM Elan Morin |
Vrothum suffers the full effect of the fire unleashed by the brimorak, but he proves resistant to some of it.
Rogar charges and almost cuts down the dretch with one stroke of his falcata. Unfortunately the demon's supernatural resistance saves it from an untimely death!
"Fool! Hell is for the weak! We are of the Abyss!", the dretch says as it immediately retaliates.
Attack roll (claw 02 vs Rogar): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 -> Damage roll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack roll (bite 01 vs Rogar): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 -> Damage roll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Only one of the creature's attacks pierces Rogar's armor.
The other dretch tries to execute a second crusader...
The demon grievously wounds the crusader but this time he fails to kill the man off.
The Brimorak brays again and suddenly living flame engulf its right fist. Then it prepares to hurl the sphere of fire at you as he advances in order to have a better line of sight...
Meanwhile Sir Ilivan keeps advancing on the upcoming demon reinforcements.

Valentynne |
The very human blooded aasimar finishes casting his spell, before moving towards the enemy.
I'm assuming the spell will make its effect at the beginning of my next turn.
Vrothum |
Vrothum will charge the brimorak, rage, and claw him. Vrothum's beastly appearance reappears as he lets his hatred take over.Lets see how you fair against opponents that fight back! Vrothum lets out a bellowing roar that sounds like a dragon as he lunges at the brimorak with searing red eyes. [Large, Raging, Charge, Power Attack]
Charge: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 132d6 + 15 ⇒ (6, 4) + 15 = 25
Vrothum is too consumed with his hatred for the demons that his strike is too wide.
Azrael the Talon |
"Cowards!" Azrael yells for the Dretch's attention shuffling himself towards it. As he does, he releases the clasp of his shield in attempt to cause the creature to fumble.
Throwing Shield vs CMD, Trip, 15ft: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 - 2 = 17
Move 30ft, free action to throw throwing shield. If the attempt is successful in tripping, Azrael will move to threaten the Dretch, else he will ready attack if the Dretch moves adjacent to Azrael.
Cold Iron dagger,PA: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 - 2 = 13 S/P: 1d4 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 4 = 8
SM: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
DM Elan Morin |
If I understand correctly Azrael atacks blue, right?
Azrael advances and throws his shield at the dretch who was butchering the crusaders. His aim proves true and he causes the wretched creature to fall to the ground!
Meanwhile Idril and Titus heal themselves, while Valentynne and Vrothum attempt to complete their spells I believe you need to check for concentration against the fireball damage. In any case Vrothum's attack misses

Vrothum |
Sorry I misunderstood I thought because I spent the whole round casting, rather than spending 2 standard actions that I didn't need to make the concentration check. That being said do you want to take my above roll as my concentration check making it a 4 meaning I lose the spell? or have me roll it now? I'll go ahead and roll a 1d20, and let you make that call.
Attack or Concentration: 1d20 ⇒ 10
That would be an 11 for Concentration or a 19 for Attack.
Claw dmg: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Either way I loose the spell, so it doesn't really matter.
Rogar the Righteous |
sorry in korea sight was down yesterday my time when i checked.
Rogar will swing at the beast again
atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
dmg: 2d6 + 15 ⇒ (1, 2) + 15 = 18
also gm the second atk hit because of my charge
Valentynne |
The fireball was thrown on Round 1 before Val took his first turn, and he didn't take any damage after that. Should he still roll for Concentration? But for the sake of speed, I'll leave the roll here.
Concentration: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Idril Bladesong |
I had same question as Valentynne, but will also roll for sake of speed.
concentration: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Idril, still smoldering from the fireball attack, draws a wand and tries to channel positive energy to get himself into fighting shape.
Idril will draw wand of CLW and use it on himself.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
DM Elan Morin |
Val is right. He casted his spell after the fireball exploded. He gets to keep the effect. The same cannot be said for Vrothum as he started casting before the fireball went off. Idril does not need to roll concentration since his spell only needs a standard action (and not a whole round like enlarge person) to be cast
Rogar easily cuts down the dretch before Vrothum can do it for him. Idril decides to err on the side of caution and casts additional healing upon himself.
The dretch Azrael caused to fall to the ground roars in anger and tries to attack the vigilante from his prone position!
claw 02: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 3 -> Damage roll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
bite: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 - 4 = 1 -> Damage roll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
No attack finds its mark and the vigilante would be left free to retaliate, if not for the brimorak's intervention!
The brimorak points at Azrael's weapon and suddenly it starts to become boiling hot! At the same time the foul creature advances towards the assembled pathfinders, its hooves leaving a flaming trail behind him...
@Azrael:DC14 Will save or the spell takes effect on your weapon
In the distance you hear the clash of steel on steel and bestial yells of rage and fury.

Double move.
Azrael the Talon |
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Yashh!
Azrael turns in quick succession striking with his cold iron daggers in attempt to bring the Dretch to it's knees. The human shows no mercy.
Cold Iron Dagger,TWF,PA: 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 - 2 - 2 = 15 S: 1d4 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 4 = 8

As Vrothum closes in he draws his warhammer and in one fluid motion gives a fierce uppercut swing to the jaw of the demon.
Idril Bladesong |
Wincing in pain and still injured from the blast, Idril takes a deep breath and fights against the pain and breaks into a run toward his fellow agents fighting the brimorak.
The magus speaks quietly to his blade "Yes, I am going. Patience Ankar."
Full round action to run, movement indicated on map.
