Dismoon |
Edging to the smoke's boundary she sends forth a blinding shaft of energy, pure shadow extracted from the planes she has inverted with lost formulae.
Blinding Ray, ranged touch: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 - 4 = 16 against blue
lack of concentration maintenance on the smoke means it will last only one more round
Lulwa "Lulu" al Qaisi |
Lulu moves behind a pillar and takes aim at Green, wrapping a bit of thread in aether and propelling it at unearthly speeds toward the caster.
Blast: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
for: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
GM Lamplighter |
Round 5 (continued)
Lulu, Muroi, Dismoon, Natalia, Therin are up!
Lulu blasts Green again, but a magical barrier stops the attack. (mage armor, not DR)
Muroi launches another magic missile at Blue.
Dismoon fires a blinding ray, and connects despite the cover. Blue shakes her head and suffers the ray's effects.
Natalia, you are up!
Natalia Markovich |
Grimacing after being struck by a magical bolt of energy, Natalia steps 5 feet to the northeast and attempts to strike the enemy healer with her dagger.
Dagger vs Blinded foe: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage + Precision Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1d8 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (2) = 4
Soumral Arlindil |
Hm, standing up will be a move action. Am I still allowed a 5' step? Depending on that one of the two below.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Soumral Arlindil |
I suspect the same. Unfortunately I can't do anything else this round then. Unless I can draw a dagger as part of my standing up move action for throwing my standard action is wasted.
Natalia Markovich |
I believe you can 5' step after standing up, you just can't 5' step if you take a move action in which you actually move squares.
GM Lamplighter |
Actually, I used to believe as Soumral and Therin suggest, since it seems to me that standing up involves movement. However, a "move-equivalent action" is not the same as "having moved" according to the consensus. In grey areas I tend to err on the side of the PCs, but expect table variation - either call is "legal" depending on the GM in question.
GM Lamplighter |
Round 5 (continued)
Soumral grabs her rapier, stanmds up, and steps toward the fray.
Blue steps behind her allies and once again channels positive energy, avoiding Ahmad and Soumral. 1d6 ⇒ 1 EDIT: She's blind and can't target people with selective channeling, so everyone gets the 1hp of healing! Natalia and Therin, you also benefit from this healing.
End of Round 5!
GM Lamplighter |
Round 6
Green shouts, "Look, Pathfinders, all we want is the stuff you found. You can leave here, and even take your dying friend, or you can fight it out, maybe win, maybe lose... but your friend will be dead for sure. Stand down, or he gets it." He raises his hands in an arcane gesture, ready to cast.
I rolled Sense Motive rolls in another thread, and will reveal the rolls after you decide what you do. Read the spoilers for your PC only to see what you think about what the man says.
Lulu, Muroi, Dismoon, Natalia, Therin are up!
Dismoon |
Unwilling to give up the secrets they have found, whether or not he is being truthful, Dismoon advances and attempts to set them all on fire. Raising her crossbow as a focus, a great fan of flame rolls forth.
Using arcane bond to cast burning hands, hopefully additionally applying the 'catch on fire' part of the spell description. Will draw area of effect in a sec. DC 14 reflex
dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Muroi I |
Muroi smiles ironically. "Well, we all must die in some point. But, I doubt we will do it this day." Muroi tries to seem confident. Muroi focuses his sight on the blue, the healer, walks forward, moves his hands and says "Lluvia de meteoritos."
Minute Meteors: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Muroi moves forward, next to Therin, and casts Minute Meteors. Reflex save negates this damage. Save DC is 15. If she is blind, I guess she can´t evade it.
GM Lamplighter |
OK, waiting on Lulu to resolve things.
Muroi: actually, the blinded condition doesn't prevent you from making Reflex saves, but I will apply a penalty since it makes sense.
Lulwa "Lulu" al Qaisi |
Blast: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
for: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Lulu's answer is a speck of clothing fiber propelled at incredible velocity toward Green.
Soumral Arlindil |
Soumral shifts her head slightly so she can take in the man who has made the offer.
"You are a fool to try bargaining from the position of strength, when yours is the obviously weak position. And you are a liar."
She then brings her rapier up with a flash and leans forward into a thrust, letting her weight drive the point of the blade into the warrior with the sword.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
GM Lamplighter |
Round 6 (continued)
Lulu begins to enact her telekinetic blast, and the Green Man's frown deepens. "Very well," he says, and casts a spell of flame in a cone in front of him. fire damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Reflex save - Natalia: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 - 4 damage
Reflex save - Dismoon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 - 2 damage
Reflex save - Soumral: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 - 2 damage
Lulu finishes her blast, missing Green.
Muroi casts minute meteors at Blue. Reflex save: 1d20 + 2 - 5 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 5 - 2 = 0 The balst hits her full force and she crumples to the stone floor.
Dismoon casts burning hands, catching all of the bad guys and Ahmad in the cone of flame.
Reflex save DC14 - Green: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 - full damage
Reflex save DC14 - Yellow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 - half damage
Natalia steps in and slashes at green with her dagger. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Therin moves up.
Yellow slashes at Soumral with his longsword. longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23crit confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Soumral staggers, badly wounded.
Soumral brings her rapier up with a flash and leans forward into a thrust, letting her weight drive the point of the blade into the warrior with the sword. Yellow's eyes open in surprise as he slumps forward and collapses.
End of Round 6!
Natalia Markovich |
Natalia rolls her eyes as the last enemy flees, but decides she's too injured to follow. Instead she turns her attention to Ahmad and tries to staunch any bleeding he's still experiencing.
Heal Check to stabilize: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Therin Baldaros |
Therin kneels beside Ahmad and calls forth a healing wave from his hand.
heal: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Sweat appears on Therin's brow as he repeats the ritual.
heal: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Now that he is not at Death's door, come closer and let me heal us all...
channel×2: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 1) + 2 = 9
if anyone else needs more let me know
Soumral Arlindil |
I'd have Soumral help out with something, but if I've calculated the last round of combat correctly she's at 0 hp. Conscious but that's about it. She'll just sit out the wrap up in the shrine and follow along with the rest of the party when they're finished. Don't want a paper cut or to stub a toe dontcha know. :p
GM Lamplighter |
Dismoon charges after Green while the rest of the group heals. Ahmad returns from death's door, and the group recovers slightly.
Meanwhile, on the surface, Dismoon charges after the fleeing mage. After a few seconds he stops suddenly and turns, dropping his staff. "OK, I give up, ok? Just don't kill me." Dismoon, you can deal with this however you'd like, just let me know.
Now with less time pressure, you can do a careful accounting of the trove of records found in Eylyssia's hidden chamber. There are several finds here which have not been made public, confirming Selmius Foster's suspicions that she was holding out no the Society.
As you head back to the Grand Lodge, you hear cheers coming from the direction of Starstone Cathedral. from the word on the street, another crusader has decided to attempt the test of the Starstone: Sir Roderick will ride his horse across the chasm to the cathedral and hope to enter, becoming a god. The crowd roars in the distance, and then suddenly turns to cries of horror, then fades to silence. As you reach the Lodge, you hear that Sir Roderick has become yet another Failed Aspirant, having learned that gravity is a harsh mistress.

In Dreng's office, you report the details of your adventure, and his eyes twinkle. "Amazing how a routine errand led to such discovery, isn't it?" he smiles. "That is the mark of a true Pathfinder - the ability to recognize opportunity and seize it, following wherever it may lead. Remember that."
You have the opportunity to RP out the end of the mission at this point. Well done! I will get Chronicles posted asap - please ensure I have your PFS number, Character number and Faction if I don't already.
GM Lamplighter |
Several days after your adventure, you each receive a letter:
Pathfinder,
Your recent investigations and recovery of agent Eylysia’s papers have already yielded results. Under my direction, a team of scholars has tracked down the long-retired Society ciphers the gnome used and translated many of her entries. Although several of these records present valuable leads, our contact Amenopheus has identified one that is especially timely and exciting.
Osirion’s borders have not always run where they do today—Ancient Osirion has survived for more than six millenia, and its dominion stretched to Nex and beyond. However, opportunities to study the land’s earliest days are few. The ruins that Eylysia identified in northern Nex are ancient in the extreme, dating back to the Age of Darkness, when desperate survivors of Earthfall sought refuge any way they could. Eylysia reported that the Arclords of Nex had left the ruins largely untouched and under the guardianship of the local girtablilu; there are no signs of further explorations since her report. This site may very well provide a pristine view into the lives of those who experienced theAge of Darkness, allowing us to expand our understanding of that period.
Venture Captain Roderus is taking great care in selecting the agents to delve into these ruins. While I would not normally recommend that agents as new as yourselves delve into a mission so fraught with potential dangers, you show promise and may very well be prepared by the time he is ready to launch the expedition. In the meantime, if you can help me identify other promising agents to take on this project, I would consider it a great service.
Highest regards,
Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin
Therin Baldaros |
Guys, i healed for a bunch...you are both conscious
Therin looks after his wounded colleagues and then helps with the searching for any pertinent to the Society.
Once back at Dreng's office...
Glad to be of service to the Society, sir. If you need my assistance, you have but to merely ask. I will most likely be at the temple, as usual.
Natalia Markovich |
"Well, that was a little more difficult than I anticipated, but all's well that ends well, I suppose." Natalia says, looking satisfied enough at the group's success.
Lulwa "Lulu" al Qaisi |
"Girtablilu? I remember a story about them---they guard the doors of gods long forgotten, before Sarenrae..." Lulu shakes her heads and grins. "Rather nice to be able to mention something like that. In Qadira I'd be labeled a heretic."
She nudges Muroi. "We're being put on a mission, I think."
Sorry to disappear for a few days--I was moving.
