Crios Greymantle |
Crios steps toward the fiery orc that just attacked Eldon, but as he swings his staff he channels just a portion of his power to bring his target into crystal clear view. He notices a small favoring of one leg over another and realizes in an instant where to focus his strikes.
Power attack+bless Flurry one: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Free=Power attack/Swift=Arcane Accuracy(+4), 5' step and flurry.
Temporary Alias |
Crios's first attack knocks Shirish to the ground! While she lies unconscious her body continues to smolder.
In case you'd like to hold the second attack, you have the option.
Crios Greymantle |
Crios would hit her one more time, just to be sure 'cause she is dangerous! We can always question the drummer if it can speak common. That and if Kivuli doesn't kill it first, ;) .
Orophin Telemnarn |
Orophin drifts into the room, and unless the orc is dead will reach out a hand to stabilize her.
"Fire, bringer of warmth and life!" he says in a slightly dreamy not-quite-there voice.
Temporary Alias |
Crios pounds the orc into submission, while Orophin keeps the life from slipping out of her completely.
Crios Greymantle |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Dag'nabit! ;)
Waki Huro |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
He would go after any enemy still fighing...assuming the map is showing two active combatants.
Regaining his senses, Waki is unaware of what transpired, but sees a foe still standing and draws the strange kukri blade to replace the two he lost.
Pay you will for that!
kukri?, bless: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 1 + 1 = 16
for dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Adjust for whatever mods the kukri has
Kivuli Greyfeather |
sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Kivuli step forward. He notices the drummer is holding up a false front. he lowers his blade slightly, "No needing to die like fire chief. You stopping, we stopping. OR You am fighting, we am killing. Chosing is you."
Ready and action. If he takes any action I percieve to be offensive in nature, I stab him.
Necress Nyx |
Necress doesn't know quite what is happening, but seeing Kivuli hold back, she readies an action to command the orc to fall prone if it attacks.
DC 17 Will save
sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Eldon García |
Eldon is taken by surprise by the flames. He rolls against the wall putting them off while Crios finishes the flamy orc "What the hell?! He burned my new cloak!"
Sense motives: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
The elf then quickly moves towards the remaining orc, but seeing others are waiting for his reaction, he prefers to take a defensive stance "Surrender now orc!"
HP 11/41 (I guess evation does not apply, thus all the fire damage goes in)
AC 32 (total defense + acrobatics >=3)
Temporary Alias |
@Eldon: Evasion does not apply. The Reflex save was to keep from catching fire.
Waki's strike draws blood from the last upright orc, who collapses in a heap in the corner. It's just a decorative +1 kukri.
Stabilization: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
As the haze of battles lifts, there is one dead orc (Zurgo) while the other drummer (Thrash) lies unconscious in the corner.
The orc leader (Shirish) continues to smolder in the center of the room, both unconscious and stable.
Orophin Telemnarn |
Seeing Eldon badly wounded, Orophin lays a gentle hand on the elf.
"Be well my friend, and let your body recover its energy."
CMW: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (8, 4) + 4 = 16
Crios Greymantle |
As Eldon's burns rapidly begin to heal thanks to Orophin, Crios breathes a little easier and comments aloud, "Thank you Oro. Your healing is very much appreciated. "
Crios then bends down and begins to search and disarm the orcs. Wary of the smoldering one, once he comes to her , he tentatively pokes her fallen form with his staff and begins to prod her outfit for any signs of hidden valuables.

Temporary Alias |
Feeling around on the smoldering orc chieftainess finds that she is very hot to the touch. 3 points of fire damage for each round you spend fiddling with her body.
She has a suit of studded leather with bone chips where metal rivets would normally be (which detects as magical), as well as a leather glove that is lined with jagged chunks of obsidian (masterwork cestus).
More updates to come in a few hours...
Temporary Alias |
The dead orc and the unconscious orc each have the following gear (as there are two instances of each item, you can attempt each of these spellcraft rolls twice):
The burning chieftainess has a similar cloak, though the embroidery around the outside is significantly finer.
Between the two of them and their belongings in the room, there are also 2 masterwork chain shirts, 2 masterwork scimitars, 2 masterwork drums, and 12 javelins.
The orc warleader continues to radiate flame. Her armor detects as magical, as does a single potion at her belt.
Note: While the orc's body burns, removing her armor will cause 3 points of fire damage each round. It will take one character 1 minute or two characters 5 rounds.
You have one orc corpse, one unconscious orc, and one unconscious orc that is on fire. What do you do?
Waki Huro |
Waki will recover his dropped blades.
"Ordinary orcs these were not. Cultists of some dark power they seemed ."
Eldon García |
Eldon breathes relieved when Orophin applies his healing knowledges "Thanks for your cares. Whom is the god I shall give a prayer back for his kindness?"
The elf casts detect magic and starts inspecting the magical items.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

"We should continue exploring after picking up all the stuff and tying up the still alive orcs. We can come back later for the flammy armor"
HP 27/41
Necress Nyx |
Necress can't tell what the cloaks are, either, but does successfully identify the potion.
"This will heal wounds," she says, offering it to any of the injured.

"I'm not sure about the cloak either and I don't blame you for not reaching through the fire to inspect her items. That's why I used my staff for a prod first. She is just to hot right now. How about we have Orophin douse her with some of that summoned water to put out the flames? "

Temporary Alias |
Assuming that happens, to smooth things along:
Orophin casts create water above the orc, which stymies the flames in a small spot on her body for a brief moment, the flames quickly reignite.
Crios Greymantle |
<snap's fingers> Darn it! I left that in my other character's pack.
"Well that doesn't work. I would guess the fire will keep coming back until she is dead. There won't be a good way to tie her up like this, as the ropes will burn through in no time."
He shakes his head and then with a solemn look to his party he continues, "I would imagine you might frown upon our killing her under these conditions. We only have two likely choices, with a third I highly discourage. We can leave her here, possibly to face her yet again if she somehow gets healed by more of her allies, or we can kill her. The third, and far less desirable choice, is to heal her to consciousnesses. I am of the mind that she will certainly try to kill us if given even half a chance. I leave the choice to you all."
Oh the moral dilemma!
Kivuli Greyfeather |
"She made-ing choice worshippings evil. No redeemings her. Me will doing it." With that, the rogue cautiously approaches the smoldering priestess. He identifies a vulnerable spot in her armor and sinks his estoc into her flesh.
Coup de Grace damage + Sneak Attack: 2d6 + 10 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 10 + (1, 5) = 24
You automatically hit and score a critical hit. If the defender survives the damage, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die. A rogue also gets her extra sneak attack damage against a helpless opponent when delivering a coup de grace.
DC 34 save vs death
I'm okay doing this slow enough to be interrupted in case anyone has a compelling reason to save her.
Orophin Telemnarn |
To Eldon Orophin offers a smile. "All life is beauty, and the mistress of beauty is Shelyn."
He is too distracted to note the work of Kivuli until it is too late to do anything about it. A tear, quickly evaporated by the heat, runs down his cheek.
"Yes, she was evil, and which of us have done no evil in our life? But now she is dead and no good can come of her, except as food for the creatures of the woods."
He creates more water, washing clean the body, and hopefully cooling down her armour.
Crios Greymantle |
With a gentle hand upon Orophin's shoulder, Crios nods in understanding. He then deftly moves to Kivuli and offers his thanks by way of a friendly pat and a curt nod of approval. "これは、行わなければなりませんでした。ご決断いただきありがとうございます。" he says in tien.
After the thorough search of the bodies reveals what it reveals, the party ties up the remaining living orc, stripped of weapons and armor, and leaves the room for further exploration. They remain wary as they travel for other orcs that may still be about.
All buffs on Crios, with the exception of see invis(long duration) should be down by now with all the searching, tying up of the orc, examining the magic items etc...
Waki Huro |
Waki watches as Kivuli finishes off the woman. Indifferent to her fate.
the tengu gives the room one more quick search while waiting.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Press on we should. More orcs may come looking.
Temporary Alias |
Kivuli's estoc finally manages to put out the fire- -though perhaps not in the manner he had hoped- -her last breath exhaling in an explosion of flame and dead orc flesh.
From what it looks like, this would hit Crios, Waki, and Kivuli.
Parting Fire Blast: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) + 6 = 18
Crios Greymantle |
AWESOME! Well not by Crios' or the other characters' perspective of course, but I think it is. Ouch! Just funny timing for me to see something like that. I just read that power last night for one of my characters and thought, "nah'. it's too dangerous to have in case I fell next to a friend."
As the body bursts in flame, catching Crios and several of the others unaware, it's sends Crios reeling back, burns crisping over his exposed flesh. "By the gods!" he yells in pain after the inferno has passed. "That was unexpected. How on earth did that happen?" seeing the flames have finally died down, quite literally, he urges the party to get as far from this orc as possible and soon.
"If I may, friend Orophin, please may we have the blessings of your healing once again?" Crios backs away from the charred and quiet corpse of the once burning orc, more out of reflex than any conscious decision.
Kivuli Greyfeather |
Crap. my last post got eaten. There was coughing and sputtering and shock.
Orophin Telemnarn |
"Be sure, you may all share in the abundance that is life."
Once again the oracle reaches out his consciousness, borrowing life from all that is around, the insects in the air, the orcs nearby, the trees on the surface above. When he is full, full to bursting, Orophin releases it all in a burst of healing energy for those around him.

Kivuli pulls out a wand and taps it to his chest. As his wounds continue to close, the wayang's movements seem to become more self-assured.

Activating the Wand of Infernal Healing. Full health in seven rounds.

Waki Huro |
Waki nearly topples in pain from the blast of flames. He is relieved by the quick healing.
"Evil fire spirit from her expelled at the end ."
Eldon García |
"Ouch! That must hurt!" Eldon seems impressed by the blast.
Eldon feels better as Orophin channels more of his energy "Waki, Kivuli, shall we explore the next rooms? You have showed to be sneaky as a shadow"
The elf marches on a exploration of the south-western rooms of the complex, in the hope the rest of the party will follow up.

Waki Huro |
Waki would accept some of the healing by Kivuli or, if he is willing, hand his clw wand to Orophin for assistance.
Healing appreciated would be. Then ready to proceed I am.
Orophin Telemnarn |
Can I get a curernt HP check from everyone? Just trying to work out channel vs CLW vs CMW. No real need to waste wand charges with Orophin around.
Kivuli Greyfeather |
If we waited 7 rounds, I am full. I can drop a charge of Infernal Healing on Waki, but if I can save that because you are going to channel or spell, that would be fantastic!
Crios Greymantle |
My stat line has my accurate current hp and max hp listed, so as of now I am down 7.
Orophin Telemnarn |
Seeing many are still injured, Orophin once again goes through the process of borrowing life energy and redistributing it to those who are needed.

"Thank you for life's blessing once again, Oro. Now we must catch up to Eldon, for I think he has the right of things. Let us be gone from this room, for we have much left to discover."
...and with that Crios follows after Eldon, offering him magical light by which to see. or not if that will ruin your stealth and there is already some form of illumination ahead.
Crios Greymantle |
Crios casts detect magic and maintains it, looking over the rooms as they pass.
Kivuli Greyfeather |
Kivuli catches up and joins Eldon in scouting.

Waki bows deeply to Orophin in thanks for the healing.
Much thanks I owe.
He follows the others back out and south.
Temporary Alias |
This room contains little else than broken weapons and the
eye-watering stench of fouled smallclothes.
The haphazard piling of them suggest that even the orcs didn't want to go too far into this room. The uneven mound shallows out towards the entrance to the far west end.
Fast-forwarding to the next room. (Bottom left-corner room).
This room appears to be untouched by the orcs, but for fear or another cause is impossible to discern. The southernmost wall has an inscription of a sun carved into the wall, with a katana attached with pitons bisecting it.
The katana itself shows a lot of dust on the blade, with less (but still a significant amount) on the hilt. Beneath the inscription is a plainly decorated sarcophagus.
Orophin Telemnarn |
religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Orophin looks around the room, and checks the Katana for signs of magic.
"I wonder why they left this alone? Seems odd for an orc to leave a weapon behind..."
Crios Greymantle |
Hurridly reading the poem, Bensik passes the book around. "So she died in battle, victim to orcs’ treachery. If we can locate this ruin and retrieve the samurai’s remains and her blade, we can present them to the Knights of Ozem for proper burial.
Know Religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
To be fair, even with a failed roll we did all see the picture of the three samurai and this looks somewhat similar so tell me if I am off base with Crios thinking this...It is the goal of our mission to find the blade and her remains.
"I am not sure about this inscription but could it be what we were sent to find? It looks somewhat like the sun picture with the three samurai, and that looks like a samurai blade to me. You don't suppose there are more than one in here do you?"
Temporary Alias |
The blade does radiate magic!
It is certainly fair to assume this blade- -unlike anything else you've seen- -is likely one of the Yohanatatsu's. It does show signs of famahe, as the poem suggested.
